Love In The Rain

Chapter 2

Unwanted

Believe in what you think is right. Believe in yourself. Life may go terrible, but there will always be someone that cares for you. Find that person and hold them close. Let them love you and love them back. -Me

"Sparrowkit! You can't hang out with Rainkit anymore!" my sister mewled angrily, "She isn't worth two fish scales!"

"She's worth it to me, Maplekit," I snap. "Just mind your own business. We're almost apprentices! The Clan leader said that if she could last until she was old enough to become an apprentice, then she could train."

"That's when Sootstar was leader. You know Icestar isn't going to let her! Why should she? She's a worthless fiend with nothing better than to make you feel sorry for her! All you ever talk about is her. I want it to go back to when you cared about some other cat! Like me!" Maplekit breathed heavily. Her eyes dilated in the sunlight, the amber glow to them piercing my body severely.

My body shook with anger. She's right though. Why would Icestar want Maplekit to? She's still really week. I just wish… Shaking my head, "Icestar will follow whatever Sootstar had said. He made her his deputy for a reason, didn't he? Sootstar trusted Icestar."

My eyes dart toward the bushes then back at my sister. Her body stood rigid. Her tail lashed, and she howled, "If that is Rainkit, StarClan so help me…" She headed toward the bushes. Thinking fast, I jump in front of her, praying to StarClan Rainkit was strong enough to run away. "Get out of my way."

"No. Just because you don't like Rainkit, doesn't mean the rest of the Clan is going to hate her!" I mew.

Maplekit's tail lashed, smacking the reeds. "If you haven't noticed," her eyes grew smaller with hatred, "The Clan already hates her. That fish-brained kit isn't going to make it in this Clan." Maplekit took a step forward, "The Clan is never going to accept her." She continued walking forward. Nervously, I walked back. "You shouldn't like her, ever. She is just trying to win you over." My hindquarters hit the rock. "If you don't stop talking to her, I'll make sure to ruin your life. Don't think I can't."

I took a deep breath in, and was about to speak when she continued, pushing her nose into my face, "You need to get a life and stop dealing with wannabe warriors."

My ears jerk back as I hear a whimper of pain, and watch as Rainkit jumped out of the bushes. She pushed her way past Maplekit and me, and ran through the stream. A trail of blood followed her. Most likely from thorns in her paws.

Maplekit's snort of laughter through me into a rage. My vision was soon covered by a red haze. I couldn't tell what I was doing anymore. Soon, I felt my scruff being pulled at, and I yelped. The haze soon disappeared, but the red was still there.

"Sparrowkit! What did you do?" Lionstrike exclaimed.

I was dizzy, and the sudden height wasn't doing any good. As soon as I was set down, I looked around. I couldn't have done all of this, good I?

My eyes widened as I saw Maplekit. Her body was limp on the ground, coated in blood. I tried to detect the rise and fall of her chest, but there was nothing moving. My mother was sniffing around, and her eyes were hurt pools of amber.

"What did you do, I asked," Lionstrike commanded, cuffing me over my ears. The force was so strong it knocked me off my paws.

His golden fur was fluffed out, his claws unsheathed. His green eyes were fiery pools of anger and sadness. I scooted backwards, landing in the stream.

"Get out. Leave the Clan," Lionstrike mewed strongly. His voice carried throughout the camp. "You just killed Maplekit."

My eyes widened, and I felt my body give a shudder. I managed to stutter, "I didn't mean to!"

The rest of the cats in the clearing looked at me, eyes filled with hatred and horror.

"This was to be expected!" Icestar called, walking calmly out of the Leader's den. "It's what comes from the terrible kitten that is Rainkit. StarClan was giving us another sign."

Cheers of agreement rang through my ears. My throat felt dry, my stomach was tumbling, and my legs were weak as RiverClan's leader continued.

"Sparrowkit should no longer live in the camp. He doesn't deserve to live in this Clan. He has brought shame to this Clan," Icestar yowled. "You know what he did? He killed his sister! For her!" Icestar's blue eyes were cold with satisfaction. Her tail pointed toward the direction of Rainkit.

The poor light gray kitten was shivering with fright. Her sky blue eyes were clouded with pain and confusion.

"Exile them both. If they are found anywhere near RiverClan camp, kill them," Icestar ordered.

Flamewhisker and Jaymist padded over, taking hold of our scruffs roughly. It takes all my body control to keep from yelping in pain. Rainkit didn't have enough strength to have self-control. Her yelp sounded throughout the camp, and through the territory. Flamewhisker tossed his head in the air, pulling Rainkit's scruff harder. Her body curled up, trying to keep her weight higher up.

"Good! Keep them away!" a voice sounded from behind us. Cheers of agreement could be heard behind us, and I couldn't keep from sniffling.

We raced through the forest, my heart pounding in my chest. Rainkit let out a cry every time the warriors jumped over a rock or log. Her pitiful cries made my pounding heart ache, and I couldn't help but close my eyes, trying to tune out the pain. My eyes closed, and everything faded into blackness.

I open my eyes, everything blurry in the sunlight. StarClan? Where am I? My eyes soon adjusted to the light, but not before I had heard Rainkit's weak mewls.

The light blinded me very easily, but my urge to get to Rainkit was stronger. Soon, I was back on my paws listening closely to Rainkit's mews that got weaker with each heartbeat.

I found her under a bush; her body was scratched terribly and was bleeding in different clumps. "Rainkit…" my meow sounded weak. It was raspy in my throat and it felt like I swallowed thorns. The beating in my heart sped up, as her small blue eyes opened weakly. She gave a weak purr when she saw me, but then coughed. Scarlet red droplets formed at the edges of her mouth.

A shadow loomed over us, and I turned my head frightened. A dark red warrior stood over us, and their scent reeked. "What do you think you are doing?" he asked. His voice was deep and commanding.

Looking down at Rainkit, I felt my legs grow weak. Her chest was no longer moving, and her eyes were closed. My eyes closed, and I fell to the ground in a heap. Voices were fuzzy and wavy. I gave way to the darkness tearing at me, and soon I grew unconscious.

AN: I know you are going to hate me! I'm sorry for not updating in a while. Some things happened, and I haven't felt well in a while. Hope you enjoyed this! I already started the next chapter, so it shouldn't be as long!
