Elena POV
She had wanted to get back together with Dean so badly. She wanted to forget the past three years and just go back to being Elena Winchester. But she couldn't. Losing her first child had almost ruined her. Losing a second? That would kill her. Sure, she could be extra careful, get on the pill and whatever, but once she went back to Dean, she knew she'd want a baby.
Yes, he had offered to run away with her, but how could she ask him to do that? He loved being a hunter, and he loved being with Sammy and Bobby. Hell, she loved him being a hunter. Knowing that he could save her from anything made her feel safe, before she lost the baby, that is.
She couldn't let Dean give that life up. She knew if he did, he would regret it later. And she didn't want him resenting her anymore that he already did. After Bloody Mary was killed, Elena would return to her ordinary life, and she would never see Dean again. She wanted to, so much, but she knew it would only hurt him more if she let herself fall again.
The brunette changed and went into the kitchen, pouring herself a cup of coffee and making some toast. It felt like she had never left. Everything was in the same place it had always been. Hell, Bobby had even kept her favourite mug, as if she would come back someday and stay forever. Even the room she and Dean used to have was the same. The same comforter lay on the bed. The dressers were the same. The pictures were all still there. She would even bet that her clothes were still in the drawers, which warmed her heart.
"You know, you still take your coffee the same." Sam smiled at Elena from the entrance to the kitchen.
"Black, like my soul." She smiled softly, remembering her favourite phrase.
"Sammy… do you hate me for leaving?" She asked quietly.
"I could never hate you Lena. You left because you were scared of something. I don't know what it was, but I know that you left for a good reason. You're still my best friend."
She smiled and put down her coffee, going over to Sam and hugging him tightly. "Thank you, Sammy. I missed you and Dean and Bobby so much."
"Then stay with us this time. We can go back to how it used to be. Whatever you're scared of, we can protect you."
She shook her head sadly. "I can't Sam. If I do… it could happen again. I could…"
"She could lose another child." Dean finished off, entering the kitchen.
Sam gasped. "Lena… you were pregnant?" He went to her immediately and hugged her tightly.
Dean sighed and joined his brother and ex on the floor where she cried. "Lena… we'll protect you from Bloo… her but you need to know that she's not the only one that will come for you. We think that Heaven and Hell have teamed up to hurt you, because you are the one person that we love more than anything or anyone else.
Elena looked up. "You mean… this isn't the end? If she dies… there will be more?"
Dean and Sam nodded.
Elena sighed and sat up. "Okay… so it looks like I'll be here for a lot longer then I planned." She smiled and then got up, moving towards the front entry. "I'll be back. I didn't really bring enough clothes."
"Let us come with you. That way we can figure out which mirror she might be using as an anchor." Sam said, giving her the puppy dog eyed look.
Elena sighed and nodded. She decided to let Sam drive, so that she didn't have to worry about mirrors. Elena sat in the back seat, and Dean sat with her, comforting her when she began crying because of what they had told her.
He hugged the doppelganger to him and sang softly in her ear.
Someone's always coming around here, trailing some new kill
Says I've seen your picture on a hundred dollar bill
And what's a game of chance to you, to him is one of real skill
So glad to meet you
Angeles
Picking up the ticket shows, there's money to be made
Go on and lose the gamble, that's the history of the trade
And you add up all the cards left to play to zero
And sign up with evil
Angeles
Don't start me trying now
'Cos I'm all over it
Angeles
I could make you satisfied in everything you do
All your secret wishes could right now be coming true
And be forever with my poison arms around you
No one's gonna fool around with us
No one's gonna fool around with us
So glad to meet you
Angeles
She looked up and smiled at him, her eyes teary. "Dean…" The song he sang was one they had danced to at their wedding. He would sing it to her when she had bad dreams, or when she needed comfort. "You remembered."
"Of course I remembered, Lena."
She smiled again. Caught up in the moment, she softly pressed her lips to his, letting him know that even though she was afraid to be with him because of last time, she still loved him. She wanted to be with him.
She finally pulled away and blushed. Then she laid her head on his chest and fell asleep.

Dean POV
Dean looked down at the sleeping angel in his arms. She had kissed him. She still loved him. That alone made him feel like everything was right in the world. He was so in love with her, and she was in love with him too. He knew that now. And that fact would only make him fight that much harder for her. His Lena. His wife.
Dean saw Sam smiling at the two of them from the front seat. "Dude you are so whipped." He laughed.
Dean smiled and cradled Elena closer to him. "Ya, I am. But I'm okay with it."
Sam grinned and laughed softly, before turning back to the road. The two Winchesters sat in comfortable silence, while Dean continued to stare at the perfect woman in his arms. He leaned down close to her ear, and softly whispered. "I love you, Elena."
Elena Gilbert had expected her Saturday to be just like any other Saturday. She was going to go to the Mall with Caroline. Then she'd come home and cook dinner with Jenna. Next she'd meet Bonnie in the park to go over the criteria for the latest project they had. Then, she'd write her diary entry, and head to bed. This was not a normal Saturday.
Shopping with Caroline and cooking with Jenna had gone well, but when Elena went to the park, she didn't meet Bonnie. While waiting on a bench for her friend, she received a text saying Bonnie couldn't make it. She was stuck at a family thing with her dad.
Unfortunately, that meant that Elena was left alone in the park. She stood to leave, but was suddenly trapped in an embrace by a man. They revealed themselves soon. It was a vampire.
Having known Stefan and Damon for about a year, Elena knew how to handle herself. She didn't have a stake on her, but she was surrounded by trees that she could easily turn into makeshift weapons. She sent a kick to his stomach and then kicked him in the head.
He quickly righted himself and grabbed her. She managed to get it so that he was between her and a tree. Elena lined herself up with a sharp, thick branch, and rammed her and the vampire back into the tree, lodging the branch in the vampire's heart. She felt his grasp loosen as he desiccated. Elena sighed in relief, but froze when she saw two more figures coming towards her.
"Hey, don't worry Miss. We won't hurt you. We hunt monsters." She breathed out. They were like Alaric then.
The men finally came into full view and Elena's eyes widened at the shorter one. He was so attractive! And she felt this inexplicable pull towards him. She finally pulled her eyes from his and looked at the taller one. She smiled. "Hi. You're a little late. He's already dead."
The shorter one chuckled. "Shoot. You handled yourself pretty nicely. My name's Dean. This is my brother Sam." Her eyes widened in recognition.
"You're looking for my uncle. He said to expect you boys soon. You're helping with a demon problem… aren't you?"
They nodded, amazed at her guess.
"I'm Elena Gilbert. Alaric is my uncle and a hunter."
She smiled and led them back to her house. "Ric! Jenna! We're home!"
I know! It's so overdue! But I had writer's block for so long. I'm finally out of my writing slump!
