Rin woke up to begin and live out another day, she sighed and moved her blanket back as she sat up in a kneeling position and then let out a tired yawn. The birds were chirping and the leaves rustled with the morning wind and she smiled getting off her bed and folding the blanket into a square and going to her yukata stand putting on a light pink layer and then a baby blue layer and next was a cream colored layer with a yellow with a gold strings making an outline of a checkered pint, with bright pink flowers and petals everywhere, the gold was a beautiful gold and she put her hair up in a bun.

Jankostu told her to always have her hair in a bun it was proper and kept her hair out of her way. She grabbed her tabi socks and then put on her wooden sandals and looked at her image in the mirror she sighed and felt sad she hadn't see her family in over a decade, well actually eleven years. Feeling sadness begin to make its way into her heart she shook her head and got up moving to the window looking out at the bright blue sky.

'Why should I be sad? I can't even remember their faces…' She looked at the trees they were a beautiful and lush green the smell of morning dew on the grass filled her nose and she smiled taking in the color of a few wild roses that were close to her bed room window.

Rin turned to the door making her way out of the room she sighed and closed her eyes before opening her door, she could remember the first two weeks she was here. For those two weeks she wasn't trusted or allowed to leave her room…

Little five year old Rin woke up the next day after she had come here, she felt sick and her heart hurt thinking of her mommy and daddy. The pain in their faces… 'I can't make them suffer I must get out!' With that thought driving her she ran to the bedroom door and tried sliding it open only to find she couldn't, she pulled as hard as she could only making her land on her but and wince feeling the pain.

She looked at the door and screamed hitting it hoping to rip through it or make it fall over, she landed on the floor. Rin opened her eyes and felt pain on her back, her lips began to tremble as she got up again and charged at the pounding her little fists on the door "Let me out! Let me out! I wanna go home! I don't want to be a princess! I want my mommy and daddy!"

Rin pounded her fists on the door as much and as hard as she could resulting in them becoming red and starting to bruise, she was starting to struggle to have any breath. She used all her air as energy into her fight "Please! Let me go!" Suddenly a man's voice was heard on the other side of the door "Please be quiet or Lord Jankostu will come and beat some sense into you."

The little girl who just had her family, her friends, her crush, and her dreams ripped away from her and now this man told her not to fight? She shook her head falling to her knees into a sobbing heap on the cold wooden floor, the man spoke again "Good, now behave." This made her gut turn and her temper flare with even more of a struggle coming from the tiny little girl, she looked around her room and grabbed the bottle of ink and threw it at the door making the vile shatter and glass rain on the floor in a slowly forming puddle of ink as it flowed down the door.

She looked around for something else and grabbed the box next to the yukata hanger it was really heavy but for some reason she felt unbelievably strong right now. With her new found strength she threw the box hard at the door making a big dint and she smiled breathily heavily and grabbed the yukata stand and screamed running to the door and snapped the stand in half with her falling on her back again. She didn't play any attention to the small shards of glass in her feet and ink covering them.

Suddenly the door opened to reveal a woman who looked ready to kill the woman snarled like an animal and marched towards Rin grabbing her by her throat and threw to against the wall "What the hell do you think you're doing you little fucking bastard?! Throwing things to try and escape?! I worked hard for these things! Want to see how it feels to be thrown?! I'll throw you!"

She walked over to Rin who coughed and held her throat with tears running down her cheeks, Jankostu marched over and back handed her making Rin fall face forward into the floor again. Rin wept as Jankostu threw her against the mirror and then against another wall. Rin's eyes were closed as she cried and shook from fear "I…I-I jus-st w..want mommy a-and daddy." Jankostu looked down at her and huffed throwing her raven black hair back behind her shoulders and turned around, Rin opened her eyes to see the woman wearing a white yukata.

'I woke her from her sleep.'

"Forget about them! They weren't even your real parents! Your real mother is worm food and your father? Well no one knows who he is. Rin you are a female tribute, your only purpose for life is to be given be offered and then later killed."

"k-killed?"

"No one ever returns and demons are known to eat humans… when you die you will be protecting everyone, like your so called parents."

"I-I'll protect them?"

"Yes, and any children they might have. You will protect the whole village, and besides you'll get to see your real mother in heaven. So being offered in your case isn't bad, but don't try to escape anymore!" With that the strange lady left and Rin was left to her own thoughts as she curled up into a ball crying her eyes out in her new and destroyed room.

'Mommy and Daddy were sad. They weren't happy I was chosen… I'll make it back to them alive then I won't have to be offered. I won't give up!'

Rin shook her head smiling at the old memory as she walked into the hall 'A lot of good fighting did for me. I also tried escaping through the window and got an even worst beating resulting in even more and severe beatings she felt tears burn her eyes at the last and most traumatic beating she suffered.

She was six for a year she had not stopped trying to escape, but one night when she finally made it through her window without being caught she smiled as her feet touched the ground. She hadn't been allowed to go outside, but with guards she was allowed to wonder in the mansion. The grass felt good and cold on her feet, she was lucky not to have suffered any scars from the glass she stepped on her first night and no permanent injury physically that is.

Rin smiled and ran as fast as her feet could carry her but then a twig snapped and she whipped around to see a group of men who were not villagers but were dressed in torn clothing had old rusty and damaged armor and nasty appearances look at her as they held a torch in hand "Look boys what a cute little girl… and she is all alone."

Feeling something in her mind telling her to run she took a step back and bolted into the eastern direction and heard horses approach 'No, they have horses?!' A man jumped off his horse diving for her, Rin dodged just in time and screamed in fear. She kept on running with all her might as tears poured down her eyes she screamed 'Daddy save me! Daddy save me!'

"DADDY!"

Rin heard a distant screaming of her name and ran that direction she smiled she had almost forgotten her father's voice "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" There was a man in armor his long waist length raven colored hair was tied in a long pony tail. The man had silver armor chest plate and red samurai armor and ran towards Rin with two men behind him, Rin's eyes widened 'That's not daddy! Those two men are-!'

The man with the long pony tail jumped in front of Rin as a man she recognized from the place she had just escaped from it was her guard that stood at her door during the night, the other guard was her day guard. The two were the ones who had taken her to Jankostu's in the first place, her night guard ran and scooped her up in his arms and looked at the one who had charged the trio of nasty men "Jankostu! What about Rin?!"

The man with raven hair clashed swords with the leader of the trio and pushed with all his force making the leader fall on his but in the dirt and roll to avoid being killed by Jankostu's sword "Lock her in her room I'll be there shortly."

One nasty man chuckled "Shortly? Not a chance!"

The guard holding Rin ran towards the mansion as her day guard ran to help Jankostu, Rin looked at Jankostu and couldn't help to blush 'He is so beautiful… Wait! Jankostu i-is a…a HE!" About ten minutes passed with Rin sitting on her bed with her night guard at her door as he sealed her window shut, with what she didn't know and didn't ask but there was something on it. When she had tried to move it the window didn't budge.

Rin waited and waited her bedroom door slammed open to show a man with armor covered in blood his face had anger and fury written all over it. He stormed over to her as Rin scurried away trying to be as small as she could in the corner shaking, he grabbed her throat and squeezed hard. It hurt to breath and she heard a squeak come from her as he screamed at her "DO YOU THINK THAT WAS SMART?! I'LL MAKE SURE THAT NEVER HAPPENS!NEVER! RIN I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO KILL YOU IF YOU SEEK DEATH THAT MUCH!' He saw her face turning blue and threw her as hard as he could with all force onto the floor and then as she was struggling to catch her breath wrapped her hair around his hand yanking her up as she wasn't touching the ground but looked at him with teary eyes "But if I killed you now we would need another offering… oh I know, how about that mother of yours? Hana was her name right we could offer her for having such a disrespectful and dishonorable daughter! We can have your father sent as a offering too, your parents will suffer more than they already are because of their mistake for taking in sinful trash like you. Kikyo must have been whore to have a daughter like you, not even telling the villagers who your father was! If she had he would have had you and you never would have been a offering!"

She cried as he grabbed her throat again and smiled "If you want to hate or blame anyone blame your whore of a mother! But if you don't want your parents to die then live as a princess! Next time I will kill you!" With that he threw her so she hit her head on the wall and passed out; when she woke the next morning she was covered in black bruises.

Rin felt a tears pooling in her eye, she looked up to avoid shedding it 'That was the last night I was able to talk…. Now I'm just a mute. But Jankostu said that might make me live, I wouldn't annoy the western lord as much if I couldn't speak. I was now sixteen and next month I would be offered to my fate, which was most likely death.'

I walked over to the dining room where I would eat my breakfast and go back to my room to write a letter to Kohaku. 'He and I stayed in contact with letters and he often asked me how I could live on knowing our fate as tributes. My answer was always, we have a role to fulfill…'

The rest of her day she spent under the closest tree with a scroll and her two body guards watching her as they had every day and every minute. Rin was reading a scroll out the forest and nature, it always interested her and made her happy to read about the wonders she wasn't able to see since she allowed past the garden of the mansion.

This was the only way she could see all the flowers and animals while staying where Jankostu allowed, she wouldn't be killed. She had just one more month she smiled 'I can make it.' Suddenly she looked up to see the man who resumed to dressing like a woman after his battle that night "Good morning Rin what are you reading?" Rin turned around the scroll to show him he looked at her curiously "Why would you want to read about this stuff?"

She shrugged and smiled she hadn't forgiven him and never would, he took away her voice, her freedom and her fight to live that night. However she knew she had to put on the best act so he wouldn't hurt her she really didn't want another beating, last time he took her voice what would be the next thing? That is what scared her, she took a breath and resumed reading as Jankostu sat under the tree with her and the two guards.

Twenty nine days passed quickly leaving only one sunrise and one sunset before she would be offered…

I have put my other stories on hold, because I wanted to think of more complex story lines and outcomes. But I have a great idea for this love story, so tell me what do you think will happen.
