**Revolutionary HQ**

"Sir third general Steven has just arrived." A solider spoke as he saluted to the red haired man in front of him.

"Good, you are dismissed solider." The man spoke without turning towards the solider.

The solider bowed as he walked out, at the same time a silver haired man entered the room. "Thank you solider" the man spoke as he passed.

"1st General Lance." Steven spoke as the solider was no longer close enough to hear.

"So how was the boy?" The man now known as Lance questioned wasting no time as he stared at Steven.

Steven showed a smirk causing Lance to smile knowing that good news was imminent.

"Both he and Dawn show potential." Steven started. " However they both have a hard time controlling their emotions...While they are dedicated to the revolutions cause now they may make rash decisions that could cost them their lives." Steven spoke.

Lance crossed his arms and nodded. "I understand, hopefully as they gain more experience those rash emotions will evaporate. Did you manage to figure out what aura type they both were?" Lance questioned.

"Yes, Ash is electricity while Dawn is water a perfect combination." Steven spoke this time with a bit more enthusiasm.

"Great you told them to tell Brock to bring them here when they completed their training correct?" Lance asked

"Yes sir." Steven replied

"Good, our sources are saying that The Empire is holding some type of try outs to be in their royal guard. It's a bit risky, but I want the rookies including Ash and Dawn to infiltrate The Empire's guards and gather some information." Lance stated as he sat in a nicely carved chair and leaned his hands on the desk made of strong oak wood.

"Sir, excuse my rudeness, but do you really believe you should send those kids on such a high level mission already? I mean for pete's sake I know that while Dawn and Ash have shown remarkable potential they only just learned how to use aura." Steven spoke clearly not believing the rookies were ready.

"Steven. I make the decisions around here. Once they get here I will conduct a short test should they pass then they will undertake this mission if not then they will do another task." Lance spoke in a stern tone.

Steven sighed knowing he wouldn't win the argument, before his face lit up as he realized an important detail.

"Sir what about Dawn, she will be recognized instantly the moment any of The Empire's hierarchy spots her! Why would we give away our only hope without any guaranteed results!" Steven shouted

"True...I have thought about that, I'm sure that second general Cynthia will have no problem dying Dawn's hair blonde, and she will have to use an alias while undercover, but we will worry about all of that on a later date." Lance replied.

"Sir...That is risky are you sure that just changing her hair will protect her real identity..." Steven questioned a bit unsure.

"Think about it like this, who expects one of their greatest threats to just walk into their facility. I'm sure nobody will even give it a second look." Lace replied full of confidence.

"I agree sir, although I still believe this is a great risk..." Steven slowly stated.

"Well it is a necessary risk...I already have a agent inside The Empire's top ranks, but to pull off what we are trying to pull off they are going to need help." Lance said revealing more of the plan.

"Wait...What is he trying to pull off?" Steven questioned a bit surprised that an undercover operation was approved without his knowing.

"We're going to assassinate the king." Lance spoke in a serious tone to the now wide eyed Steven.

**Rookie Training Camp**

"Get up Ash!" Dawn yelled before directing her attention towards an attacking Skyla.

Ash grunted in pain as he slowly stood up, his eyes glanced at the cut that had made it's way on his shoulder before directing them at Pride.

"Come on Ash. I'll admit your sword skills have improved, but swordplay is my specialty." Pride bragged as he directed a cocky smile towards Ash.

"Ha, your bragging, but all you managed to do was cut a boy who has only trained with a sword a few weeks." Ash countered as he picked his sword up off the ground before an idea made itself present in his mind.

"Hey Dawn use another surf attack." Ash shouted towards Dawn who was easily holding off Skyla.

"I hope you know what you're doing Ash. SURF!" Dawn yelled as he directed her attack towards Pride.

"Really Ash this trick again. Come on now lets be a bit more creative sheesh." Pride spoke a bit disappointed as he nodded towards Skyla to split the wave again.

"Gus-" Skyla started before she was interrupted by a knee in her gut.

Pride's eyes widened as he looked towards where Ash had previously been only to see he wasn't there.

"Volt tackle." Ash said as he landed next to the now unconscious Skyla.

"SKYLA!" Pride yelled, but couldn't focus as the huge wave approached him. "Nice try, but..." Pride started before he noticed that he couldn't move his body. All he could do was prepare himself for impact.

The wave crashed onto Pride, leaving the white haired boy gasping for breath as the water faded away.

"What happened.." Pride questioned as he regained himself.

"Ugh...That hurt..." A weak Skyla muttered as she lifted herself up.

"Let me explain." Brock suddenly said as he walked towards the rookies.

"Why did my body not respond just now?" Pride directed his questioned towards the darker toned man.

"Yeah I'd like to know to to be honest...I was only intending for Skyla to lose from my that combo." Ash said with a laugh as he walked towards the group.

"You mean...You didn't know.." Dawn muttered holding her head in disappointment as she walked by Ash.

"Well you know, haha we won that's all that matters right!" Ash laughed before turning towards Brock. "So why couldn't Pride move."

"Well I thought you did it on purpose, but clearly that wasn't the case, but you see Pride got to cocky with his defense. While steel is strong against electricity enough of it can leave a lasting effect on any type called being paralyzed. Learn from this Pride you can't allow yourself to be hit by attacks. Having to much confidence in your defense will almost always weaken it." Brock explained in a stern tone giving Pride a disapproving look.

"Yet another advantage electricity has. Haha I'm pretty lucky." Ash bragged as he helped Pride up.

"I guess...But damn Ash I have to say these last couple weeks have done you good. Not only did you manage to tame Dawn, but somehow you've become the strongest one of us." Pride congratulated as he wiped his hands through his soaked hair.

"Well you know me and Dawn just realized we both have a common goal, and we are going to need each other in order to accomplish it." Ash said as he smiled at Dawn.

Pride looked at the exchange then laughed.

"Man Sky you were right. With these two there is no way things won't be interesting." Pride joked before Brock made his presence known again.

"Ash, Dawn...These 'goals'? Let me be the first to tell you your own personal objectives do NOT come before the army's.." Brock started. "Also let me say be careful to never give your real names to the enemy..They will not hesitate to use people close to you as tools. Remember that." Brock finished in a deadly serious voice.

Ash and the others all shook their head in understanding.

"By the way Brock, General Steven told me to inform you that we should all return to the main headquarters upon our exit of the forest. Apparently something big is about to happen." Ash suddenly stated.

"I am already aware of this. Steven stopped by and told me. So rookies rest up I'll set some clothing for you to change into. We will head out in the morning. Dismissed." Brock replied as he saluted and walked to his quarters.

"Dawn come on we have so much to talk about!" Skyla suddenly yelled as she grabbed Dawn's arm and dragged her to their quarters.

"And so there were two." Pride said awkwardly.

"Oh shut up, lets head to the rooms." Ash laughed as he began walking towards his quarters.

"Calm down boy whats the rush tell me whats up with you and Dawn." Pride said as he caught up with Ash.

"What about it?" Ash replied in a unconcerned tone.

"Dude...Don't act like two months ago she didn't hate you and would have probably ate a Caterpie before she willingly worked with you." Pride said in an amazed tone.

"Well you know...Like I said we just found out we had a similar goal. Nothing special." Ash repeated.

Pride sighed as he put his hands on his head.

"Well fine don't tell me, but I'm glad you guys got everything figured out." Pride stated before he slung his hand around Ash's neck. "Lets practice hand to hand combat before we head back." Pride finished.

"Sure, I should warn you though while swordplay is your specialty, hand to hand is mine!" Ash replied in a confident tone as he pushed Pride off of him and got into a fighting stance.

"Haha, we'll see. Ready." Pride started.

"Set." Ash continued.

"GO!" Both boys shouted as they rushed towards each other.

**Royal Palace Throne Room**

"TELL ME WHAT LEADS YOU TO BELIEVE THIS!" The king shouted towards a brown haired man .

The man hesitated a bit before replying, "Well sir our scouts have reported seeing Dawn with the revolutionaries or a woman who resembles her. I personally believe it would be wise to start planning for the possibility that the revolutionaries have discovered the chosen one..After all there is no reason to harbor her unless they were absolutely positive that she would be of use." The brown haired man informed the king.

"Great...IF by some amazing chance they did locate the chosen one they will almost certainly never accept peace...They will try to claim their land back." The king grumbled as he paced around his chair.

"If I may say one more thing as well." The brown haired man spoke as a smirk formed on his lips.

"Wipe that fucking smirk off your face Birch! What could possibly make you smile in this situation!" The king bellowed as he grabbed the man now known as Birch by his shirt.

"Well sir... along with the information that Dawn may be among the revolutionaries my scout also confirmed that one of our own has infiltrated the revolutionaries as well...If our Intel is correct we can assume that our agent is undergoing training as a rookie at their camp now, that is also were we believe Dawn is hiding at this time." Birch explained his smile getting larger as he explained the full situation.

The king slowly released his grip on the man's shirt as he heard the information.

"Haha...Great.." The king muttered his frown turning into a smile.

"The agent unfortunately can't communicate with us right now as that would put them at risk of jeopardizing their identity, but we will know soon enough whatever information they have obtained at their first opportunity to contact me." Birch informed Norman.

"Good..What is the name of the one undercover?" Norman questioned.

"His name is"

"Jesus Pride...I thought you were only good at using swords...You didn't say you were good at hand to hand to.." Ash complained as he rubbed his now swollen cheek from the hit from the white haired boy.

"Haha I told you I'm great!" Pride bragged sticking his chest out.

"Yeah Yeah whatever." Ash said with a grunt a bit annoyed that he lost even though he didn't put all of his effort into it.

"Here let me help you up." Pride offered as he held out his hand towards Ash.

"Nah I'm fine, I just want to lay down it's been a while since I've been able to just relax without worrying about getting attacked." Ash replied as he laid down on his back.

Pride nodded his head in understanding.

"You and Dawn must have been through a lot in that forest.." Pride started.

"Stop, to be honest I want to keep what happened in that forest between me and Dawn you know partner thing so even if you ask I won't tell you." Ash interrupted in a serious tone.

Pride sighed. "I suppose, well I guess i'll talk to you later I'ma go rest up in my quarters." Pride replied as he began walking back.

"Yeah I'll talk to you later." Ash stated as he closed his eyes.

"Come on Dawn tell me! What happened between you and Ash?" Skyla asked in an excited tone.

"Nothing." Dawn replied getting tired of the girls constant questioning ever since they walked away from the boys.

"Why won't you telllll meeee?!" The red haired girl pouted.

"Do you really wanna know?" Dawn asked as she moved closer to Skyla

"Yes please!" Skyla replied getting excited.

"Really?" Dawn instigated as she moved closer to the red haired girl.

"YES" Skyla almost yelled as her and Dawn were now mere inches apart.

"Too bad there is nothing to know." Dawn finished as she flicked Skyla's forehead.

"Ugh. Fine Dawn be that way!" Skyla stated with her tongue poked out.

"Haha sorry Skyla I just want what happened between me and Ash to stay between me and him you know? Something like only partners should know." Dawn explained with a small smile.

"AWWW thats so romantic!" Skyla exclaimed as she gave Dawn a hug. "I'm so happy for you!"

"Why are you happy for me? It's not like it's a big deal? Me and Ash just agreed to work with each other?" Dawn asked in a confused tone not noticing the sly look that Skyla was giving her.

"Oh don't play me you guys formed a much deeper relationship then that of just partners!" Skyla stated in a matter fact tone as if it was obvious.

"No. Nothing like that. Trust me." Dawn replied as she laid in her bed making it clear that she was done with the conversation.

"I hear you Dawn." Skyla replied in a knowing tone as she to climbed into her bed smiling at her friend clearly seeing her budding relationship even if Dawn didn't.

**One Day Later**

"Where is Ash?!" Brock yelled as he had gathered the other three rookies.

"Ugh...There's no way he really fell asleep out there right..." Pride thought with a sweat drop.

"Pride do you know where Ash is? Brock questioned as he noticed the look on Pride's face.

"Uh...I might. I'll go get him sir." Pride replied respectfully as he ran towards were he left Ash the day before.

"He's probably doing something stupid.." Dawn said out loud even though she wasn't really speaking to anybody.

-With Ash-

Pride ran to the location that he left Ash and sweat dropped as he noticed that the ebony haired teenager was still laid out fast asleep.

"You got to be kidding me..." Pride muttered as he stuffed his hands in his pockets as he walked closer to the boy.

"Hey dumbass wake up! It's time to roll." Pride said an annoyed voice as he kicked Ash.

"AH!" Ash screamed as he felt Pride's kick in his gut.

"What the fuck man!" Ash yelled incredulously as he stood up ready to fight the white haired male.

"Come on, everybody is waiting for us we'll be walking all day apparently." Pride replied ignoring the growling boy behind him as he began walking back towards the others.

"Hey everybody look what I found." Pride yelled towards the group as he made it back to Brock.

"Ash where were you?" Brock asked in a stern tone.

"Ugh..Sorry I fell asleep outside..." Ash replied in an embarrassed tone as he rubbed the back of his head with a crooked smile.

"Dummy..." Dawn said in a low voice.

"What was that Dawn, I can't hear you when you mutter things like a punk!" Ash directed his attention towards his partner with a smirk knowing she would bite the bait.

"I said DUMBASS!" Dawn yelled a animated vein appearing on her head, for some reason Ash could get under her skin so easily and make her show emotions even though she didn't understand how he managed to do it.

"Oh stop flirting you two." Skyla laughed as she watched the two.

"Let's just get the walk over with." Brock sighed not feeling like dealing with Ash and Dawn fussing.

"I guess they still don't get along that great...Well at least when it counts they seem to be much better.." Brock thought.

"Haha lets go." Ash laughed ignoring Dawn's outburst.

*Revolutionary HQ*

"Lance. I just received a pidgey from Brock he says that they should be here in a few days." Steven said to the red haired man.

"Great..Hopefully they meet my expectations." The main replied.

"Trust me Dawn and Ash have great potential... I think they might even come to rival you and Cynthia..." Steven spoke with a small smirk

"HA...I hope so that would be really helpful now that we are getting close to an important milestone in this fight." Lance replied with a chuckle.

**Royal Throne Room*

"So in a few days the try outs for the Royal guards are suppose to start...I hope this land can produce a handful of decent fighters." Drew spoke to his sister.

"Yes, all the preparations have been made we have three test one to test their Aura, one to test their endurance, and another to test their loyalty." May replied in a serious tone.

"Good...It's a shame we will have to kill all those who don't make the cut." Drew said with a dark chuckle not noticing the disapproving look in May's eyes.

"Why though brother?" May questioned her voice showing concern.

This caused Drew to stop laughing as he looked at his sister. "Simple if they have aura they have two choices. One be strong enough to be useful to me or two they die. I refuse to have the revolution gain any more followers." Drew replied in a angry tone not liking his sister's softness.

"Drew..." May muttered with a sad smile before he waved her out.

May walked out lost in thought. She really didn't like the direction that her brother was going in... At first she was proud that he managed to take over Kanto, but it seemed that the stronger he got the more heartless he became...It really was starting to give her a bad feeling. She almost wanted the chosen one to arise and stop him before he went pass the point of no return.

May quickly shook the thoughts out of her head. She felt disgusted with herself for even thinking that. She was no traitor.

"I have to get stronger..If I'm powerful Drew will have to start listening to more of my opinions." May said to herself figuring that she didn't have to hope for her brother's fall she could change things from the inside.

**Three Days Later**

"Ugh are we there yet?" Ash moaned as he and the rest of the group continued down a dirt road.

"Oh stop complaining Ash.." Dawn replied although she herself was starting to get worn out they barely had any rest since Brock said it would be to dangerous.

"How about you be a gentleman like Pride." Skyla laughed as she tightened her grip around Pride's neck to help her not fall off his back.

"Yeah be like me..." Pride muttered struggling to continue walking unable to even joke around. It was taking all of his concentration to not fall on his face.

"Fuck that..Dawn has her own two feet. I'll be damned if I put her on my back." Ash said in a stubborn tone.

"Is that your excuse for being weak?" Dawn narrowed her eyes towards Ash a idea coming to her mind.

"What was that?!"Ash yelled earning a laugh from Skyla and a smile from Pride who both knew what Dawn was trying to accomplish.

Brock listened to the conversation with a tiny smile. He had given up on trying to shut them up since they would only be quiet for a few minutes before Ash started complaining again. He had to admit he was kind of happy that Ash came around he couldn't imagine what the group would be like without him.

Brock turned around and looked at the group and sweat dropped as he now saw Dawn on Ash's back. He chuckled.

"Are you happy now!" Ash spoke loudly as he blushed from the closeness of him and Dawn. Sure he had carried her like this before in the forest, but that was a life or death situation he couldn't think to much into it..She smelled nice he thought to himself.

"You should be happy I'm even letting you carry me!" Dawn replied in a mean tone although she was happy inside that Ash was carrying her she was really tired of walking.

"See Ash doesn't it feel good to be a man?" Pride laughed now that Ash was experiencing what he had to deal with.

"We're almost there guys." Brock decided to speak up as he noticed they were about ten minutes from their destination.

"Finally! Let's go then!" Ash yelled as he began to run.

Dawn was a bit surprised at Ash's sudden burst of speed, but was also surprised at how easily he seemed to be moving with her on his back..Sure she wasn't fat, but she definitely wasn't a piece of grass. Ash didn't even seem to notice her.

"Where does he get that energy.." Pride muttered with a funny smile. "Can't let him beat me though! Let's go Sky!" Pride roared with confidence as he took off at the same pace as Ash.

"I'm glad they seem fired up now!" Brock thought as he ran to keep up with his rookies.

"Is that it?!" Ash spoke amazed as he stopped and looked at the wall surrounding what Ash assumed to be the revolution's hq.

"Yes, now we are going to meet with the first general. I need you to all to show respect when you meet him." Brock said in a serious tone.

"What is the first general's name?" Pride asked suddenly.

"It's Lance. He is a amazing man I've heard." Skyla swooned as she blushed.

"Don't be getting hot on my back thinking about some dude." Pride joked as he dropped the girl on her butt.

Dawn suddenly noticed the spark in Ash's eyes as he watched Pride drop Skyla so acting quickly she lifted her knee and attacked Ash's back causing the young male to grunt as he landed face first on the ground.

"Don't even think about it." Dawn stated as she looked at the defeated teen.

"Ahh...Guess you know me well." Ash groaned disappointed that he couldn't drop Dawn like Pride had did Skyla.

"Straighten up rookies. We're going inside now." Brock suddenly said in a commanding tone as he helped Ash up.

The group walked up to the huge gate of the wall surrounding the castle.

"How has this not been discovered by the Empire yet..." Ash though out loud as he looked at the wall still amazed.

"Halt! Who goes there?" Suddenly two guards questioned in a threatening tone as they pointed their swords toward the group.

"Stand down guards. I am Lt. Brock and these are the Rookies that I've been training." Brock replied clearly not threatened by the men.

"What is the password?" One of the men asked.

"Pokemon." Brock whispered just loudly enough that the guard could hear him. Nobody noticed however Pride smirk.

"Access granted, Salvation for Kanto." The guards saluted as they let the group go through.

SO what is a good excuse for the delay for this chapter? Lol to be honest I don't have a good one :/ I just lost interest in it for a month or so, but I've been reading tons of fanfictions while on my little break and I've gotten tons of ideas that made me just want to type. I was going to make this chapter longer, but I remember you guys saying 4-5k was enough for one chapter so I just stopped at 4k. Atleast you guys know I'm alive an I haven't dropped this story.

Look forward to the next chapter! I promise I won't take as long as I did for this one!
