Restless

Robin rolled in her cot, unable to sleep and feeling more restless than usual. Which was saying something, since she usually felt on edge. With their army always on the move, fighting risen and rescuing villages, she never felt comfortable enough to let her guard down completely.

Sighing, she rolled off the cot, ripping her smothering blankets off. She started to the door of her tent, intent on going on a walk to get some air. She glanced at her jacket before shrugging and leaving it behind.

Robin crossed paths with Sully, who was on guard duty and spoke with her for a moment before settling beside a large tree. It was beautiful out and she always had enjoyed staring up at the night sky. For some reason, it made her feel like herself again but Robin wasn't really sure what that even meant.

A tree branch snapped and she stood to her feet in a flash, berating herself on not bringing a tome or her sword. A familiar head of red hair appeared in the dim moon light causing Robin to sigh out in relief.

Gaius froze when he heard her sigh, lollipop inches from his mouth, his hand traveling down to the sword at his hip. His dark eyes appraised her for a moment and Robin blushed, wishing she had brought her jacket with her. Robin wasn't used to people seeing her small form. (Though, she hadn't seemed to care when she saw Sully.) She rubbed her arms awkwardly before patting the ground beside her. He grinned after a moment and popped the red lollipop back in his mouth.

"What're you still doing up, sweetness?" He plopped down beside her, stretching out on the grass.

"I couldn't sleep. I'm feeling too restless for it." She responded before throwing a sidelong glance to the man and asked, "What about you?"

"Just woke up not too long ago, myself. Got watch after Red tonight." Gaius replied, stretching a bit. He pulled the lollipop out of his mouth, wrapping his tongue around it before pulling it back in his mouth. Robin was surprised to find herself licking her own lips. Though, for the first time, she was sure if it was candy that made her do it. The thought made a blush rise on her pale cheeks but thankfully it was still pretty dark out. Gaius didn't seem to notice but Robin could never be so sure when it came to him.

"I can take it, if you want to. I don't think I'm going to be getting much sleep." Robin offered, pointedly keeping her gaze from his face.

She heard a slight pop from him and glanced over to see him studying her. He ignored her offer as he said, "you look different without your coat."

"I - uh, thanks?" Robin answered, feeling a little shy and confused.

"Don't worry about it, sweetness. I got watch tonight." Gaius continued but he noticed that she frowned pensively. "But I could use the company, if you'd like to stay." He offered her a piece of chocolate, surprising her and himself. He never shared his candy. Not with anyone.
