I know what you're thinking, I haven't updated in forever. I am going to be totally honest with all of you because I have a good reason, I completely forgot I had written this. Thank you to the person who left Me a review that reminded me about it. I apologize for the wait and the shortness of the chapter, but I wrote this in five minutes because I felt bad. Better chapters are to come, but it may not be until the end of the week because I have finals.
On the bright side there was one less indestructible weapon in the arena, on the other hand Thor was strong with or without Mjolnir and by the sound of things he was pretty angry. He didn't think L'oreal would actually try to hurt anyone who wasn't his little adopted brother, but it was time to suit up. He didn't know these people well enough to trust anyone not to attack.
It took a while to get the suit on without the help of JARVIS, who Loki had apparently disabled, but after a while he managed it. He was just in time too, because right as he finished an angry looking Sif stepped out of the trees that surrounded his couch. He would have to remember to kill Loki when this was all over. He would have preferred a little warning before she came. not all Asgardians were as strong as Thor, but they did possess some superhuman strength and it could mean serious trouble for him if he weren't fully suited up.
Tony held up a hand in greeting, hoping that she was still wandering around like him. He wasn't sure he could bring himself to fight her, she might beat him and he would never get over the humiliation. A full ironman suit against one person without anything? It didn't help that she was a girl, and even though he knew that being a girl didn't affect anything in battle if they knew what they were doing, not everyone was of the same opinion. "Hey there, gorgeous."
"You dare call me anything but my real name?" Her voice was menacing, but after she spoke she clapped a hand over her mouth.
"Woah there! Just being friendly." Only then did he seem to notice that there was something wrong. "Is there a problem?"
"Loki!" Sif bellowed, "What have you done with my voice?!"
Tony was more than a bit confused, her voice sounded fine to him, though it could certainly do with a bit less shouting. She had the same accent as Freyja, and he now was able to better appreciate Thor's more easily understandable voice.
Loki's voice came back on over the speakers, "I've just made a small adjustment so that people can understand you. None but we Asgardians speak our native tongue, so none of us need to confuse the simple creatures."
"SIMPLE CREATURES?!"
The shout came from directly above them, and they looked up to see Natasha holding a dagger like she was about to throw it. Right at him. He knew he needed to be watching her.
"Well hello there my little spider, trying to kill us?" He gave her his signature smirk, thankful for her short temper when it came to the menace in the speakers.
"Screw you Tony."
"Time and place?"
"You disgust me." She swung out of sight.
"You know, maybe we should start calling her Tarzan. That was pretty impressive." Tony muttered under his breath. He looked back down to find that Sif had gone and he was alone. "Well then, that was rude." He walked into the forest with one question on his mind, would he really have to kill these people? Not that he was an overly moral person, but he didn't just senselessly kill people. He hoped they would find a way out of this before it came to that.
He wondered where Pepper was. She obviously wasn't in the game, he hadn't seen her in the circle, but he knew that if Loki was here then he could be doing something else in another part of the tower. Maybe he was doing the same thing with the maitinence workers on another floor and Pepper was with them. He certainly hoped not. She may be able to defend herself from a few people, but he wasn't sure what her odds would be against twenty three. Hell, he didn't know his own odds. Most of these people probably had superpowers, and all he had was his brain, and he wasn't sure how that was supposed to protect him from a god.
Speaking of gods, how was it that Loki was here? Shouldn't he be in some sort of Asgardian prison? Really, those people needed to start paying more attention to the nut ball, he could kill the entire city, and then what would they do, slap him on the wrist? Their prisons were way too relaxed. He would make a point to talk to Thor about it.
Of course, he supposed it was possible that Loki was controlling things from far away. Another realm seemed like a really long reach, but he supposed it could easily be possible. He might be speaking through JARVIS because he had no mouth to speak with here, and it wasn't like there was some sort of room with a microphone where he could just sit and talk over the microphone. The whole thing was computerized, it didn't work that way.
He could have spent the rest of the day thinking about how exactly this was happening, but if he stayed here he was far more likely to be caught unawares, and he had a feeling that this Mystique woman would be perfectly happy to kill him where he stood.
