Title: Distorted Image

Summary: The horror stories circulated, but Mello was never one to believe in ghosts... That is, until he encounters an elusive redheaded boy.

Disclaimer: I don't own DN, and this idea is hardly original.

Author's Note: As promised- this is the poem that L mentioned on Page 39.

Special Collector's Edition
Lores, Gore, and Horror of the 19th Century
Featuring Tales of Matty DeadBoy

DeadBoy's father took a whack
Left the boy blue and black
With the rope, tied him tight
Took away his will to fight
Grabbed some scissors, cut his hair
Cut his clothes, made him bare
Dipped metal points beneath the skin
Dipped it deeper, shoved it in
DeadBoy screamed and cursed and howled
As blood poured, he solemnly vowed
"I'll be back, I'll shame your name"
"I'll be back to finish the game"
With this final testament
DeadBoy's final moments spent
He bled out on the floor
His father tried to hide the gore
Hid the body in a box
Buried beneath some dirt and rocks
Just as -in death- the child swore
His spirit roams 'til furthermore.
