Hi there it's been a few months, thanks for reading.

I don't own Fairy Tail.

Ch. 3 Back to school!

Natsu was hesitant but reached for the door anyways. He smiled that wide grin we always did and knocked on Lucy's house door.

"Hello?" said the maid.

Natsu smiled and the maid gestured for him to come in as Lucy slipped pass him and ran up the stairs to her room to retrieve a new outfit for the day.

"So I guess I'll see you later. Bye da-" a door sounded as though it had just swung open.

"What did I say about speaking to me through my office door?" A stern man's voice said.

"It's not like I'm going to bother changing in stupid dresses and bother coming in like that every time." Lucy said stressing her words. In response he gave her this upset look which unsettled Lucy. She bit her lip and ran down the stairs, rubbing her eyes. "Why do I ever bother." she muttered under her breathe.

"Luce?" Natsu asked concernedly.

"Let's go Natsu." Lucy said as she grabbed his wrist quickly.

Natsu grumbled a bit to himself trying to figure out what to say next to her. Was she upset? Was she mad?

"Um-you're okay right Luce?"

She tightened her grip on Natsu and sighed "Yeah." Natsu could hear her uneasiness in her voice; he could feel her grip slowly loosening and then tightening.

"I'm here for ya Luce! We'll have an awesome day." Lucy brightened up, laughing at Natsu's slang.

Once Natsu had walked Lucy to school he wanted to introduce her to his friends. "Who's the girl, Natsu?" a boy with dark hair asked.

"This is Lucy, she lives across the street." he said proudly.

"Hey there Lucy." said the blonde boy, "the names Loki." he said in a flirtatious voice. Lucy had to admit he was attractive.

"Nice to meet you Loki." she said as the tall, handsome teen closed the gap between them.
Natsu didn't seem to mind which interested the other boy beside Loki.

"I'm Grey. Nice to meet you." he inched closer, taunting Natsu. To Greys liking Natsu responded as he thought he would. Natsu had taken notice of his closeness and began to fight Grey who was more than willing to spar.

A few girls wandered nearby and one of the girls started approached the group being introduced to Lucy. A short blue haired girl bumped into her; she was wandering, looking for her friends.

"Ouch!" the girl wined.
Lucy was shoved a few steps away. Rubbing her arm she asked "You okay there?"

"Oh sorry, I was-," she looked around and was surprised, "Natsu, are you friends?"

"Yeah. Nice to meet you, I'm Lucy Hearfilia."

"Hi, sorry for earlier Lu-chan. You can call me Levy."

Lucy nodded; she was strangely delighted to meet another girl especially since it was easy to talk to someone so tiny and cute.

"Where's Gajeel?" Levy asked while she was turning in circles searching, tippy-toeing as she scanned the school halls. Lucy giggled thinking of Levi beside Gajeel.

"He's coming, he said he was going to take Wendy to her school."

"That's cute." Levy said, "But I'm not sure whether he'd want you telling me that. You know how he-"

"How I what?" Gajeel said suspiciously.

"Gajeel, nothing, Lu-chan and I were just going, let's go." Lucy trailed behind her new, flustered friend.

"So you live around here right?"
The blonde nodded as her home she once cringed at brought her thoughts of something good for once.

"I live across the street from Natsu's house. You should come over some time."

"Really?"

"Yeah, we could have a sleepover!"

"Sounds like a plan."

Lucy had looked around and noticed her pocket book on the ground; she reached for it, putting it in her purse.

"You read?" asked Levy.

"Of course. I love books. In my spare time I write stories"
Levy nodded excitedly telling Lucy how much reading things meant and asked her if she could read Lucy's stories when she finished. Lucy was quite happy finding out that Levy loved books. She thought that they seemed to have a lot in common. Lucy told her clever blue haired friend to come over tonight.
She was more than willing to do so.
Gajeel crept up behind the two girls asking, "Lucy, um could you do me a favour?"
Levy was curious and listened closely.

"Yeah, sure thing, what do you need?"

"Could you pick up Wendy at F Tail primary?" he asked quickly and under his breath, Lucy couldn't catch what he had just said and gave a confused face in return.
Levy nodded and answered for her, "Sure, we'll pick her up after school. No problem."
Lucy had come to the conclusion that Gajeel doesn't speak much but when he does its almost unheard.
Gajeel continued to grumble responses to Levy's energetic questions. She must have spent enough time with him to intently hear him like he was at average volume. In fact they looked rather cute together and seemed to suit each other.

Two boys, one quite skinny and the other slightly large came running to Levy.

"Jet, Droy!"

Levy was on more than good terms with the two. Gajeel awkwardly acknowledged the 'Levy adoring fans' and left.

For a moment Lucy thought that Gajeel liked Levi. She laughed it off and proceeded to her first period class.

"Lu-chan!" called Levy. She ran towards Lucy who had been in conversation with Natsu. Lucy told Natsu that she'd see him later and waved goodbye. Lucy then left with Levy. The two girls ventured to Wendy's Secondary school next and as they walked they walked along a riverside. Men in boats on the stream warned the two to be careful. The two laughed and Lucy continued guaranteeing Levy that they wouldn't get hurt because she had never gotten hurt from it.

Once they could see the school they hopped off the higher ground.

"Hi Levy!" Wendy came running to hug her then Lucy, "Where's Big Brother?" They explained how Gajeel was busy and to come over to Lucy's house for now until Gajeel could pick her up.
Once they arrived at Lucy's house they quickly settled in. At first, it was about books the older teens had read but it eventually became a question and answer game. Wendy was still full of questions for Lucy as was Levy.

"Hearfilia Inc. sounds cool Lucy. Does it really bother you when people know?"
Lucy was a bit frightened to have Levy know and looked to see her reaction.

"Lu-chan its fine, it doesn't matter what your background is, as long as were friends you're just like one of us."

"That's almost what Natsu said." Lucy said as she laughed.

"I know. That's where I got it from. He's really something."

"Do you like him?"

"Oh. Naw. I do remember his childhood friend liking him but it was when they were small. So no competitions there don't worry he's all yours." Lucy's eyes seemed to pop. Levy gave her a glance indicating the surprise was reasonable.

"It's not like I want him to myself like that's, he's just, sweet."

"Anyway-" said Wendy as she broke through the silent stares being exchanged back and forth through both teens.

"-Lucy, you should just be you." Wendy's astounding smirk filled the room with a light atmosphere.

"Thanks Wendy." said Lucy.

The boys came to pick Wendy up. Granted, she had actually fallen asleep on Levy within the upper floor. Lucy instructed Gajeel to the top floor. She smiled at Gajeel's reaction once he tried to find ways to pry them apart without waking then. Her giggle grew as Natsu slipped his hands onto her waist.

"Natsu!" she breathed in an exhausted voice.
He slid his hands away and mouthed 'surprise?'

'Very' she mouthed back as her eye brows rose. Her cheeks puffed and Natsu thought it was cute.

"That's adorable." Gajeel said loudly with both girls in his arms.

"Speak for yourself." Natsu said defensively.

"Gajeel you couldn't just leave them?" He grumbled back a possible 'maybe', "I get that you don't want to leave her but we could have one big sleepover."

"I think I'd be fun." answered Natsu quite quickly. Lucy picked up her landline and whispered "Tell father that we have friends over but they will stay in my room." A house maid responded with, "Mistress I don't think your father would mind." Lucy sighed and left the conversation as that. Lucy put the phone down aggressively. "You okay Luce?" asked Natsu.

"I'm- I'm fine." she huffed.
Gajeel sighed as he had to bring both girls back up to Lucy's room. Lucy instructed Gajeel to leave the girls on the bed. As he laced them down they both instinctively clung to him, pulling him down with them trapping him in their grasps. He signed and decided to get comfortable. Lucy gestured to the large arm chair which could fit them both.

"I can sleep on the floor." said Natsu.

Lucy dragged him onto the chair and he tried to give her as much room as he could. Both drifted off and morning came.

The next school day came and Lucy woke up with Natsu's arm around her shoulder. Her head was in the crook of his neck. They had one large blanket over them. Lucy flushed and calmly snuggled as if he were a pillow. 'He's just a pillow, just a pillow.' she told herself. She glanced over to Gajeel's spot on her bed. He laid there with tiny Wendy and Levy intently snuggling.

Levy had an arm stretched over Gajeel's leg and her cheek was pressed against his thigh. Lucy thought it'd be funny if she awoke like that and how would she react.

She smiled and then sighed once again. There was always something bothering Lucy. No matter how happy she would get she couldn't help but think something bad would happen. It was pessimistic of her, she knew that very well. That's why she found herself sighing all the time. It was frustrating but how can she not think of bad things? Lucy hoped to think differently but it was hard when her dad kept upsetting her. She was sure he wouldn't do it on purpose but it didn't change the fact that he didn't seem to love her.
