The day after the Hiitachin twins had served detention due to a certain Hyuuga, Hikaru had realized that he may have been harboring a certain crush towards the demure blue-haired girl. Due to Kaoru making him realize this, Hikaru had been acting painfully awkward around Hinata. Sometimes he would stutter, or he would just plain out avoid her instead of teasing. Of course, this was only when he was by himself. As long as Kaoru was around, he could act normal around Hinata—without his twin, he was just an awkward turtle. The last one in the group, Haruhi, would just observe silently and comment when needed.
"OI! Hinata-chan, you forgot your school bag!" Kaoru called out, pointing to a blue bag Hikaru held up in his hand—a smirk was planted on their face.
Hinata swerved around and blinked, trying to register what they said. Her face turned pink, and she her mouth formed an 'o'. Taking tiny steps, she advanced towards them. "A-Ah! I forgot about t-that." She smiled sheepishly, "I guess I was really e-excited for class to end. Ha..ha…" When Hinata made a grab for her bag, Hikaru pulled it out of her reach.
"Tsk tsk, Hinata-chan. One would think that an heiress of the prestigious Hyuuga clan would know the secret word," Hikaru teased, chuckling. She blushed.
Haruhi rolled her eyes and elbowed his rib, promptly taking the bag from his hand and giving it to Hinata. "T-Thank you Haruhi-chan," Hinata mumbled, averting her eyes away from Hikaru. "W-Well, I gotta go! I can't miss my club practice." She rushed out of the classroom, ducking her head down in embarrassment.
"Honestly you two. Can't you guys go one day without teasing her?"
They both replied simultaneously, "Nope."
Kaoru then commented calmly out of observation, "Did you two notice that Hinata-chan said she's going to club practice?"
"…."
"CLUB? MY DAUGHTER JOINED A CLUB? HOW COME I WASN'T TOLD ANYTHING?" Tamaki cried into Kyouya's shoulders dramatically, shoulders shaking vigorously as he sobbed. "HINATA-CHAN DOESN'T LIKE ME!" Everyone rolled their eyes at the childish manners Tamaki displayed.
Kyouya lifted his hand and patted Tamaki stiffly. "There, there. Hyuuga-san joined the martial arts club and didn't want to worry you. After all, a fragile girl shouldn't be surrounded by the male species." Kyouya said the wrong words because in response, the blonde cried even harder at thought of Hinata being beaten up. Or worse—molested.
"Martial arts club?" Kaoru asked, blinking. "I didn't know that Hina-chan did martial arts."
Hikaru furrowed his eyebrows. "But she's so tiny and fragile. There's no way someone like her can fight." He then added as an afterthought, "No offense, Honey-senpai. It's just, Hinata-chan's a girl and she's really shy. It just seems like if she punched someone in a spar, she would apologize immediately and give up."
Honey's wide eyes glowed with happiness, "None taken, Hika-chan!"
Kyouya cut into the conversation. "You forgot about one important factor."
"What would that be?" the twins asked.
"She's a Hyuuga."
"What does being a Hyuuga have anything to do with her ability to fight?" Hikaru retorted. Tamaki stopped his dramatic crying abruptly and gave Kyouya a question look, also curious about the information gatherer's reason.
He sighed and pushed his glasses up to the bridge of his nose. "The Hyuuga clan were born and raised to fight. It is one of their major talents, and they excel at it greatly. Hyuuga-san, being the heiress of the clan itself, must have been trained harder than anyone else if she was to take over the clan one day. Especially since Hyuuga-san is a female. People do tend to look down on a woman. This is of course, my speculations."
"Ah. Kyou-chan has a good point right there!" Honey exclaimed, humming. He played with his stuffed animal—Usa-chan, the pink bunny and smiled in contempt. "I wonder if she's good."
"At fighting? I believe so. If not, we can always ask Fujioka whether her fighting capabilities are stupendous."
Everyone turned to look at Haruhi. She furrowed her eyebrows. "What?"
"Is Hinata-chan an amazing fighter?" the twins questioned, gazing at the innocent cross dresser intently.
Haruhi blinked, taken aback by their question. She tilted her head and tried thinking back to the past. "Mmm...There was this one time in middle school when one of her friend Haruno Sakura got into a fight with another girl named Karin. Hinata-chan had stepped in and ended the fight completely with a few simple moves, knocking them both to the ground in a blink of an eye. If I had to sum it up, Hinata-chan's fighting style is magnificent."
"Whaa! Haru-chan, did that really happen?" Honey gasped, amazed. Maybe he should challenge her to a fight one day. He wondered who would win. He glanced at Mori, and Mori only shook his head. Honey frowned. His best friend might be right. He may end up hurting her really bad. She was a girl too! He didn't want to put her in the hospital.
"Yeah."
Honey clasped his hands together, "Wow! That's so cool!"
"OH! I HAVE A GREAT IDEA!"
"Not now King," Hikaru and Kaoru chorused, ignoring him.
"HEY!" Tamaki pouted and stomped his feet on the floor. "I was going to suggest that we go visit her!"
There was a silence. Finally, "That's actually a pretty good idea, king."
Tamaki grinned, "Right?"
"I guess we can take a day off," Kyouya stated, nodding. He needed more information on the heiress. He snapped his laptop shut and put it away, opting for his trusty black notebook and a piece of pencil.
"All right! Field trips!" Tamaki, the twins, and Honey cheered, throwing their fists in the air.
Haruhi sighed. "I feel sorry for Hinata-chan."
"Hn. I agree."
The cross dresser glanced at Mori. "Did you say something, Mori-senpai?"
Mori shook his head.
"Oh."
Why was Mori always ignored?
The Host Club hadn't expected the club to be so crowded when they arrived; a bunch of girls and boys surrounded the front entrance, cheering quite enthusiastically until the door had been slammed shut in front of their face in attempt to keep the atmosphere quiet and peaceful inside. In the end, the Host Club left the building and watched from outside and through the windows. Haruhi blinked owlishly and tilted her head to the side. "She's the only girl in there," she idly commented.
"Females in the high class have no need to learn martial arts. They always have body guards to protect them, "Kyouya stated factually. He pushed up his glasses and began recording his notes. "We do have somerare cases, but the only females in the high class society required to learn martial arts would be the Hyuuga clan. Their clan has a reputation to keep up. Exhibit A: Hinata-san."
In the clubroom, all of the members were lined up in order from weakest to strongest with Hinata in the center. It seemed as if Chika was testing her strength's limit and endurance. For that very moment, the world felt like it had sped up for everyone. One by one, Hinata was slowly knocking them down. She wasn't harsh, nor did she cause any physical pain. The heir simply took only necessary steps and jabbed certain areas to make them numb for a few minutes before claiming victory. Hinata had been quick, sharp, and precise with every hit. Her face was calm and blank; it contrasted to the way she normally acted—which was shy and anxious.
"Amazing! She's almost done fighting all the members and she hasn't even broke out into a sweat yet!" Tamaki exclaimed, pressing his face against the window. His face was filled with pure awe.
Haruhi furrowed her brows, thinking. "This is the first time I have actually seen her display her abilities. Back in junior high, she was a pacifist so she rarely got into fights." She then remembered that high class people had the need to show off for the sake of one's good reputation. Kyouya, knowing fully well what the cross dresser was thinking—smirked.
"I really want to fight her," Honey mumbled. His warm brown colored eyes were glistening with interests and excitement. He wondered if he finally found someone that would be able to match him in a spar for once. He had definitely mistaken her for weak when she was the complete opposite of that. "Do you think she would be able to keep up with me, Takashi?"
Mori shifted his eyes, the side of lip twitching slightly in amusement. "Perhaps."
Honey smiled.
Meanwhile, the twins were off to the side chattering quietly amongst themselves. Kaoru had begun teasing his brother adamantly, "Have you fallen even more in love with her~?" A slight pink dusted Hikaru's cheeks, and he threw a glare at him. Kaoru grinned with satisfaction. "Was that a yes?"
"Oh shut it, " Hikaru mumbled, abashed. He had never seen a girl fight so gracefully and be good at it. The thought of Hinata being stronger than him was a bit strange and made him feel slightly emasculated. However, he did notice some things. Hinata was gorgeous. The way her movements were so quick and fluid like water, how breathtaking it was when her eyes sparkled as she claimed victories, how her dark blue hair whipped through the air when she jumped back, and the curves. Like, what the fuck. Since her uniform size hadn't finished being custom made yet, she was only wearing a tight tank top and sweatpants. Why, just why, did she not flaunt her body when it was perfect? Hyuuga Hinata was so unique it scared him.
Kaoru, noticing Hikaru was dozing off, slapped him. "Oi! Stop being a pervert!"
Hikaru jumped a bit and threw his twin a death glare, "I was not!"
"Pleeeaaase. I'm your brother. I know what you were thinking." Crossing his arms, Hikaru pouted because he knew his twin was right. Kaoru laughed lightly. "I'm not going to say what you're thinking. It's too cheesy and embarrassing."
"I'm going to kill you one day, I swear," Hikaru groaned.
"Now you won't. Cause you luuuurrveee me!" Kaoru grinned.
"Hey guys! Their club meeting is finished!" Tamaki yelled. He had a wide smile that stretched across his face. The smile itself was child-like and creepy. "I got the entire thing on video! Did you know that she never even broke out into a sweat?"
"I'm s-sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to please d-delete it," a girlish voice intervened. Everyone stopped what they were doing and changed the directions of their eyes to the left to see Hinata standing in her casual clothes. She was shifting back on forth awkwardly, blushing deeply. "The v-video could be used against the Hyuugas to try to f-find w-weaknesses in our f-fighting style," she mumbled, twiddling with her index fingers.
Hikaru gulped. Oh hell, her body looked great in casual clothes instead of those ugly yellow gowns. He saw how she directed her eyes at him, and he immediately slung his arm over Kaoru to let him know that he needed him to act. They both asked her in a teasing tone, "How did you get here so quickly Hinata-chan~? Did you run outside because you missed us?" Perfect. They executed the façade perfectly.
If possible, her cheeks turned from rose pink to cherry red. "I s-saw you guys outside watching from the c-corner of my e-eyes."
"Hina-chan, you did great!" Honey complimented, eyes sparkling with admiration. "Do you think we can spar one day?"
She smiled. "O-of course." Everyone else started throwing in compliments one by one—with the exception of Kyouya and Mori, who just nodded in approvement. Hinata felt her self-esteem raised slightly, happy to receive praises from such well-respected people. "T-Thank you so much. I a-appreciate it." She then frowned. "B-But I still need the v-video to be deleted."
Kyouya tsk-ed silently. The data was valuable and she wanted it to be erased. Scanning his notes repeatedly, he decided that perhaps it was enough for the day. He would eventually get a video another day—whether she liked it or not. Taking the video camera from Tamaki, he took out the SD card and gave it to her. "Here you go, Hyuuga-san. You may personally destroy it if it makes you feel better."
Her lavender colored eyes bored into him innocently. Reaching out, she took the chip slowly and they made contact with another's hand. Kyouya's eyes widened a fraction, feeling a spark run through his fingertips. Hinata took the SD card but jumped a bit. "Ouch!"
"What happened, Hinata-chan?" Haruhi asked, concerned.
Hinata frowned, examining her hands. "It felt like I just got shocked."
Kyouya observed silently, So I wasn't the only one. He stared at Hinata and she returned it too, albeit shyly. To say the least, he was surprised she managed to look him in the eyes at all without passing out. He's heard from most people that he was very intimidating. A girl like her gave the impression of being squeamish and lacking confidence. He wondered where some of her inner strength came from.
Hikaru looked back and forth between the two and suddenly had a foreboding. Things were not going to go as planned for him. A deep grimace marred his handsome face. He exchanged glances with Kaoru and they both nodded. Throwing their arms around Hinata again, they shouted, "Let's go home!"
"E-Eh?" She was disrupted from her staring match with Kyouya, taken aback when the twins had suddenly wrapped their arms around her. "H-Home?"
"Yep!"
She checked the time and gasped—eyes widening and mouth dropping. "I'm s-sorry! I have to go! My friend is w-waiting for me! I'll see you t-tomorrow!" She bowed repeatedly and ran off hurriedly, as if a devil was chasing after her.
Tamaki peered at everyone and coughed, penetrating the silence. "Shall we go home?"
That night, Hiitachin Hikaru could only think of one thing: "I hope Hinata-chan notices me more."
Reviews are nice. Yes, I did update. Surprisingly.
