(I don't own fairytail)
"Alright, guys, i'm going home." Lyon said finishing of his drink and heading out the door.
"Already?" Toby whined.
"Yes, i'll see you tomorrow." Lyon replied with a laugh.
Lyon walked out of his guild, towards his house. Magerat Town. It was a fairly large city, it was about the size of Magnolia, but it wasn't a very long walk to his house.
He was just getting his keys out when he saw a someone sitting on his steps with a hoodie on.
"Uum, excuse me? Can I help you?" Lyon asked cautiously. The person didn't look up but replied.
"Lyon, I need to talk to you." The person said sounding like he was about to cry but he was holding it in.
"Gray is that you? Wow never seen you wear a hoodie before." Lyon chuckled.
"Can I just talk to you for a few minutes without joking?" He asked staring to shout a little now, Lyon was taken aback.
"Uuh, yeah sure. Come inside." He wqlked past Gray who stood up. Lyon unlocked he's door, a little rattled about what Gray was doing here.
They walked inside. Lyon put his keys on the kitchen bench and gestured to the couch. Gray walked and sat on the couch without making any eye contact to Lyon. He kept his eyes fixed on the wall opposite them. Lyon followed him.
"So, what brings you to Magaret town?" Lyon sarted. "Oh, sorry should have asked. Did you want a drink or something?" He asked. Gray shook his head.
"Ok then." They sat in sisilence for a few minutes. This was awkward, at least for Lyon that is. They haven't really had a serious talk in ages, actually come to think of it, they never have had a serious talk about anything. It was a few more minutes until Lyon was about to speak but Gray cut him off first.
"I'm sorry!" The raven blurted out suddenly. Lyon was confused.
"What are you sorry about?" Lyon questioned, shocked at this sudden outburst.
"At the beginning of last yeah, before the whole mess with Avatar and Alverez. Did you- did you go on a job with your team?" He asked still not making any eye contact with Lyon.
"Uum, yes why?"
"Did- did you suddenly get these weird shocks or something?"
Lyon thought for a moment. He vaguely remembers getting some shocks suddenly and had to stay in the imfirmary for about a week, but how would Gray know about that.
"How do you know about that?" Lyon quedtioned. They lapsed into silence again before Gray replied.
"Well that might have been my fault." He rrplied anxiously. He still hadn't looked up and he kept twisting his fingers around nervously. Lyon scoffed.
"Seriously? You're fault? You need to stop blaming yourself for this stuff. It was just some side affects from a spell that I got hit with on that job." He laughed but then stopped as soon as he realised that Gray was crying. Gray crying? Now that was something you don't see everyday.
Lyon hesitated . He didn't know what to say. He was never great in these situations. He wanted to say something but he didn't want to accidently say something that mightake things worse.
"Uum- Are you ok?" He tried, man he was bad at this.
"It was my fault." He choked out. " I chosE you to get hurt.I chose you to get hurt when I could have stopped it. But NO! IT WAS MY STUPIDITY THAT COULDV'E GOTTEN YOU HURT. I couldv'e just called it quits but once again my stupid desire for revenge got in the way. It was my own bloody fault!" He sobbed. He covered his face in his hands, tears pouring through them.
Lyon opened his mouth to speak but he didn't know what to asay, he was shocked. He had never seen Gray like this before and what was he talking about? His fault because he wanted revenge. For what?
"Uuh, Gray? What are you talking about?" He looked at Gray, hoping that he would give him more imformation to what he qas talking about. Gray still had his head facing down at the ground. He calmed down a bit removing his hands from his face and taking deep breaths.
"In Avatar, they made me choose." He started, his voice low and wavery. "I had to get them to trust me, you know? For the mission so I had to do wverything they told me to do. There was this one tedt when I had to choose." He gulped before conitnuing. "I had to- I had to choose between you and Natsu. They had lacrimas showing you guys. I was so angry that they even new where you were, let alone even knew you. But I had to play it cool, to keep up my facade. So Ibhad to choose if one of you were hurt, who would it be." His vocie starting cracking and a few tears dropped down his face onto the table. "And I chose you and I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He finally looked up to meet Lyons eyes and Lyon gasped. Aside from the tears, he was shocked to see the black markings on his face. What were they doing there? Aren't those part of his devil slaying magic?
"Gray." He breathed. Gray looked back down again and covered his face, tears still pouring down. Lyon walked around the table to the couch where the younger ice mage was. Lyon didn't know what to do, so he hesitantly sat down and wrapped his arms around Grays shoulders. Gray tried to pull away but Lyon held on tight.
"Hey it's ok. I'm not mad at you or anything. Look i'm alright now, ok? It's ok Gray." He continued to hug the younger mage. What was he supposed to do now?
"Aah!" Gray shouted suddenly. Lyon removed his grip on Gray and looked at him. Gray had his hands clutched at his chest. Lyon pulled of Grays hoodie to see if he was alright. The black markings were covering most of his body now, the other eye glowed purple and the black markings had reached across his whole face. Suddenly, Lyon felt like he was sitting on ice. In fact he was. Purple ice now covered the whole couch.
"Gray are you ok. Calm down." Gray blinked away his tears and stood up. He looked at the couch then down at his feet. Each atep he took, there was purple ice now following it.
"I'm so sorry Lyon. For everything." Then he ran out of the house leaving a trail of ice (a/n Pun included) and a shocked Lyon.
