Chapter Three: Visitors

(Do not Own Inuyasha)

Knock Knock

"Momma!" a young child cried out. "Momma!"

The young child shook his head at his day dreaming mother. The child shook the young mother faster as the knocks on the door became more rapid. The shakes were harder with more force, pushing her over falling onto the ground. She shakes her head side to side relieving the small amount of pain. The young woman looked at the small child.

"Oh I'm sorry Kane." she smiled. "I guess I was day dreaming again."

"Momma," he tugged on her long elegant kimono, "there's someone here."

She walked to the door, opening it to notice a young man. He was dressed in a warriors outfit covered in golden plates, a sword hung down at his side. Kane walked to his mother wrapping his arms around her legs to see this stunning man in armor.

"Lady Kagome." the man called out, "The emperor wishes to speak to you."

"About?" she asked.

"Your son?" he spoke.

Kagome moved her hand in front of her son. She became angered the emperor had allowed her to heal the sick in his town even with her half-breaded son. After four years he wants to speak to her now about her son. This fumed the young mother.

"What about?" she asked

"You ask to many questions." another voice laughed.

The small group looked around noticing another young man this time on a white stallion. The young man approached the small yet lovely home of the priestess. It was none other than the emperor and a small army.

"You brought an army!" she gasped, "We've done nothing wrong!"

"Oh no you haven't." he laughed, "I came to see I told you myself, well asked myself, you see I get awfully bored in my castle so I decided to talk to you. These men are here as my protection."

Kagome's son popped from behind the young mothers legs noticing the large horse. He ran up to the horse playing with it's tail as it flipped through the air.

"As I was saying I want to see if your child would learn to fight, to gain an education on my-behalf."

"What?!" Kagome was amazed.

The emperor went eye level with the small boy placing a hand on his tiny head. Kane quickly ran from the emperor back to his mother's side.

"Even with his demonic blood he would be a great asset." he stood once more.

"My child will not be used as a weapon!" Kagome yelled slamming the door in the emperors face.

"My Lady the offer still stands," his voice reached out through the door, "it's a great opportunity for him."

"Leave at once!" She yelled.

She fell to the ground, grabbing hold of her son. She didn't want her son to leave, she wouldn't have anybody. Her husband disappeared, to her knowledge he may be very well dead. Many thoughts ran through her head. Kagome opened the door, noticing the emperor still stood before her.

"I decline, he can do so much more then just be your lap dog." she held back on the tears, "I don't want to loose him, and I know you would take him away."

"Ah, all my efforts, and here I thought you would agree." he sighed, "You will soon find out that you made the biggest mistake of your son's life."

The emperor soon left disappointed at the priestess decision. Kagome just watched as he left, she thought she would be killed for defying her lord or even him taking her son by force.

"Momma?" Kane called to his mother.

"Yes?"

"He's funny looking." he laughed.

Kagome smiled at her silly son. He resembled his father down to every detail, his piercing blue eyes, his pointed eyes, his fangs, his tan skin, and even down to the tail that swayed back and forth. He resembled more of his demonic blood line rather then the human blood.

"Kane its getting late, take a bath and go to bed." Kagome ordered her son.

"Ah!" Kane whined, " do I have to?"

Kagome pointed to his room with a stern look on her face. He frowned slugging his way to the bathroom, never once did he stop pouting. Kagome shook her head following her son. Night began to engulf the blue sky. Kagome slept in her bed, as Kane looked out the window. He gazed out into the starry night. He watched the stars pass by twinkle in the night sky. He noticed a figure perched on the outskirts of the castle walls. The small boy strained his eyes to see if he could notice what this figure looked like, to see what this shadowed stranger but his eyes became heavy and he soon feel asleep with his head resting on the window seal.

"Kane!" Kagome grabbed her sleeping son, "You will hurt your neck like that."

"Sorry momma!" he yawned.

The days turned into nights and every night Kane would stay by the window seal watching his shadowy stranger. And every morning his mother would find his asleep on the window seal. She wondered why he slept there. She knew it wasn't comfortable for him because he would complain throughout the next day in pain. Kagome decided to watch her son throughout the night. The next couple nights all he did was look out the window wagging his tail every so often.

"Kane." Kagome spoke stern.

Kane slowly turned around to see his wide awake mother tapping her foot.

"Yes momma?" he shivered at her in fear.

"What are you doing?"

"L… L… looking at this thingy." he pointed outside. "its always outside sitting."

"What?" Kagome scrambled over to the window.

She peered out the window. She looked left to right and then right to left. Kagome even went outside looking around and saw nothing.

"Kane, there's nothing out her!" she told her son, "Go to bed now!"

"But momma!" he tugged her night gown. "I'm not joking."

Kagome patted her son on his head. She grabbed him by the hand and went back inside their small little hut.

"Get some sleep."

The next morning, Kane was upset since his mother found nothing in the shadows. He knew he wasn't just dreaming up his shadowy stranger, Kagome noticed her son depressed still looking out the same window. She walked over to ther gloomy boy with his breakfast.

"Sweetie , eat your breakfast," she smiled at her son, "I will be going out later tonight… and I will be up during the night to see what this 'stranger' is?"

Kane's gloomy attitude flipped like day and night, he smiled jumping up for joy.

"Really momma?" he started jumping up and down.

"Yes really.' she placed his food in front of him. "I'm rather curious. It might just be a neighborhood cat."

"I'm excited momma, you will see." he began eating his food.

The hours past and Kagome left to aid the sick in the village. Kane stayed home. He tried reading and writing when his mother was gone, but today he ran into the town to play with the local children, waiting for his mother near the clinic house. Kane peeped his head through the clinic doors, looking around for his mother.

"Oh, Kane!" a woman spoke, "Don't worry your mother is just about to leave."

"Good, me and momma are going to have fun," the young boy laughed as he saw his mother appear from behind the door.

"What are you guys going to do?" the woman smiled.

"We're going to stay up all night!" he giggled as his mother came closer.

"Well I hope you have fun." she smiled again.

"Well hello Kane," Kagome was about to pick up her son, "I didn't know you were coming to walk me home."

Kane ran into his mothers arms, jumping into her. He couldn't stop moving he was to excited. The mother and son made there way back to their home. Soon after they walked home, night fell and the boy still couldn't keep still. Kagome walked near the window glancing out, she noticed that there was in deed something climbing the wall. She made her way outside, closer to the wall squinting her eyes. She noticed that the shadowy visitor looked all to familiar. Kane ran towards the window about to scream for joy, but was stopped by his mothers hand. Kagome quietly came closer to the wall masking her scent. She noticed the shadow perched on the wall stared near the window waiting to see the boy.

"Well, well never thought you'd show your face here." Kagome smirked.

"Guess I got caught now, didn't I." the shadowy figure spoke out.
