-THE LION KING PART 3-
Slade stood in disbelief and anger. How was she able to overcome the collar? How was she able to control her powers right after breaking down in front of him? It made no sense to Slade. No matter how he tried to logically understand what happened, it boiled down to the bitter truth: Slade had just lost his apprentice. Eight years of hard work, teaching, and discipline gone down the drain. Starfire was to play an important role in helping him dominate the world, but now Slade had to recreate a whole new plan.
He could try to chase after the Tameranean, but without leverage and her powerful advantage, it would be suicide. Even if he confronted Starfire, she would not listen to him with her or Dick's life at risk. He would have to move on from with plans without the princess.
Yes, he was very angry. Once Dick was dead, he would attempt to kill Starfire. A foolish attempt, however. Chances are the alien would flee to her home planet. Is that where she's gone now? Or was she going back to the circus? Slade shook his head at the second option, for it was highly illogical. That only left one other place: Jump City. Starfire knew of Slade's plans to kill Richard. She would go there to warn him. Would the boy listen to her, though? From the sound of the end of their conversation, Slade felt confident that Richard and Starfire didn't leave on a good note.
Slade rushed towards the computers and typed away furiously to one of his contacts. He needed an apprentice, or at least someone with a decent set of skills to assist him. He clicked the 'send' button and allowed himself to relax. He hoped that Terra will respond as soon as possible. Now at the age of fifteen, Terra was the youngest professional mercenary in the world. It was still safe to say that she wasn't even close to being on Slade's level, but he enjoyed working with her. He enjoyed being around the young girl. He enjoyed how manipulative she was, and how easily and willing she followed orders. Slade knew on a deep level that Starfire would always be his first and best choice for an apprentice, but Terra definitely made close second.
"Now or never," he mumbled to himself. He walked further down the depths of the haunt, contemplating the latest events. This could still work... and it will.
Moments after Robin left them, Beast Boy was the first to recollect his thoughts. "Dude! He LEFT us!"
Cyborg crossed his arms, "I'm not surprised. This is his decision."
Beast Boy threw his arms up. "That doesn't mean he should just LEAVE us!"
"I can't believe how selfish you're acting! Robin has been away from his old life for exactly eight years, and he meets his childhood friend! Then you prevent them from falling in love, great plan may I add, and now Starfire has to go back to being a SLAVE! A slave who is FORCED to work with Robin's crazy uncle! Robin has one of those 'life changing moments' and leaves to avenge his parents and free his girlfriend, and YOU are just upset because he'll be gone for a while?!"
"Robin's our friend!" Beast Boy pouted, crossing his arms at the older teen. "Shouldn't he be there for us in our time of need?"
Cyborg shook his head and narrowed his eyes, "I was about to ask you the same thing." He turned to leave through the door.
"And where do you think YOU'RE going?"
Cyborg turned back at Beast Boy in anger, "Helping my friend! Robin may not know this, but he needs us! I'm going to help him in any way I can. Feel free to join me when you grow some sense!"
If it wasn't a sliding door, Cyborg would have slammed it behind him. Beast Boy was left by himself.
"You can't leave me! I'm just fourteen!" When he didn't hear a reply, Beast Boy scoffed. "Fine! I guess I'll just live here by myself then! HA! This is what I've wanted for years! The WHOLE tower to myself! No one to boss me around or anything! I don't need you!"
Beast Boy walked over to the TV and turned on his favorite video game. He turned it up to an obnoxious volume and began playing. Barely three minutes passed before he felt bored again. He paused the game and looked around for something else to do. He smiled and headed towards Robin's room.
"I am... BEAST BOY WONDER!" He was donning Robin's uniform. He pointed a finger in the air. "Titans! GO!" An hour later, Beast Boy had his fun and changed his clothes back. He looked out the window to see the sun rising. "DUDE! It's morning already! Man, I only slept for, like, an hour!" He noticed that he didn't feel sleepy and shrugged it off. After some breakfast, Beast Boy went outside and sat on the edge of the bay.
He thought of his friends. Beast Boy didn't know what he was feeling. Was it... guilt? He shook his head. He didn't want to think about that crap right now.
"You miss them, don't you?"
Beast Boy turned around to see a girl standing right behind him. She was wearing a blue cloak that covered most of her body, but Beast Boy could still make out her violet eyes and her pale-grey skin. He noticed how beautiful she looked as the rays of the morning sun hit her skin.
"Who are you? And how did you get on the island?" Beast Boy didn't know whether to listen to her or attack her. She was still an intruder, so he kept his guard up.
"I levitated. Some people refer to me as a sorceress. Others call me a witch, or even a demon. You can call me Raven. You didn't answer my question, Beast Boy."
He didn't ask how she knew his name. He was, after all, the only green kid in the city. He turned back to look at the sunrise.
"I don't know. I'm the youngest of the group, but Robin and Cyborg just left me to go on some crazy adventure without me."
"Did they leave you?" Raven asked. "Or did you leave them?"
Beast Boy turned his back to her at the question and thought it over. His eyes widened as he realized he DID leave them. He WAS acting selfish, and he felt horrible about it.
"Raven, I-"
He had turned around, but the sorceress vanished without a trace. He turned his head towards the city, fully taking in the sunrise now. He turned into a hawk and flew away from the tower.
Terra walked into the light of the dimly lit room. She wore a metal uniform with Slade's insignia on the chest. She was called down by Slade for reason's unknown, but by the sound of his voice, he wasn't pleased. And you should never displease Slade.
"Terra," the familiar, coaxing voice spoke from the darkness. "You have arrived. Excellent." The young killer looked ahead of her to see Slade's outline in his full uniform.
"What do you need from me, sir?" she asked. Since she killed that Grayson boy years ago, Terra adapted to looking at Slade with familiarity, despite his mask.
Slade walked forward, allowing more of himself to be seen in the light, "You do recall my apprentice, Starfire, don't you?"
Starfire and Terra went on several missions together. She knew her vaguely, though.
"Yes. What about her?"
Slade hesitated, as though to decide what to tell her, "Do not trust her. The princess is no longer an ally."
Terra could sense the bitterness in his tone. Looks like miss Pretty Eyes won't be getting any more shock therapy, then.
She bit her tongue to force herself not to scoff at that amusing thought.
"Yes, sir. So I'm guessing that the position for a new apprentice is open?" She asked hopefully. While Terra had worked for Slade several times, she was never trained by him. His training all went to Starfire, not that she deserved it...
Slade's answered, "For the moment, you will fill the position; however, we have more pressing matters at hand... We are going to fix your mistake."
"Mistake, sir?"
The man's eye narrowed at the girl, "Do you recall the Grayson boy I had you kill eight years ago?"
Terra became confused, "What does that have to do with-" She was cut off mid sentence by a painful slap to her face.
"He LIVED, foolish child! Because you never bothered to check his pulse," he sneered.
She rubbed her reddening cheek, "I'm sorry I failed you, Master. I won't make that mistake again."
"No, you won't," He led her to something large covered in a red sheet. He pulled off the sheet, revealing a large machine Terra did not recognize. "This machine is a chronoton detonator. Do you know what it does?"
Terra shook her head and looked from the machine back to Slade in great interest.
"If I plant in specific coordinates, then I would be able to stop time permanently in that given area."
"Stop time? Sir, wh-"
"We are going to freeze Jump City," he answered bluntly. He walked away from Terra. "Your objective is simple: Find Richard and kill him. This time properly. I want you to bring me his corpse to see in person. If you fail me, you'll regret it."
He spoke softly, in a menacing tone that caused Terra to shudder.
"Yes, sir," Terra quivered. "But what about Starfire?"
"Her fate will depend on her own actions. Unless you see her, don't worry about her. With her powers, she's too dangerous to face against you alone. You leave the princess to me." Slade wrapped his large hand around Terra's neck. He didn't apply any pressure, however, but the act alone was more than enough to get Terra's attention.
He leaned closer to her face, "By the next twenty four hours, I want someone's head on a platter. Be it you or Grayson. Do not fail me."
Slade let go. Terra stumbled backwards and massaged her throat, "Y-yes, sir. Yes, Master," she corrected herself. "I- I won't fail you."
Terra ran off and Slade smirked to himself behind his mask. His plan was going along perfectly.
Starfire flew as fast as she could. She had to warn Dick, or Robin, of Slade's plan. Her eyes widened as she stopped abruptly. She had the chance to KILL Slade. Starfire hit herself on the head and screamed Tameranean curse words. How could she be so STUPID?! Starfire felt guilty that Slade was still alive because she was selfish. All she wanted was to get out of her situation, which only placed Robin in a worse one.
Now that she thought about it, all of this was her fault. She should have known Slade would place a microphone in her collar, and despite what Slade told her eight years ago, she should have stayed at Haley's circus or tried to find Dick. When Dick's parents died, it should have been her comforting him. Starfire felt responsible for everything that's happened, and now, Dick's life was once more in danger.
Starfire growled in righteous fury. She wasn't going to make any more mistakes. Not now. Not today.
It is too late for me to go back to Slade. I am unsure that I could kill him now. I believe it must be Dick who can finish Slade.
She continued flying until she found the cyborg, Robin's friend. She landed in front of his car, causing him to serve out of the way. He got out of the car, and his real eye widened in surprise as he saw who blocked him.
"What- St-Starfire, right? What are you doing here?"
"I fear the worst for Robin. I was able to escape from my Master, whom I no longer serve. I am afraid, because he knows what I had done. Slade is planning to kill Robin!"
"Kill- Star, what? Why-"
"We do not have the time. Where is Robin? He must be warned!"
Cyborg held out his hands, "Calm down, he's just ahead of us. We'll find him in time."
Cyborg covered his eyes with his arm as dust rose from the ground. Starfire was already almost out of sight.
Dick knew that the first place he should look is at the circus. Haley's Circus was doing a performance a few cities from Jump. Dick was using his R-Cycle to get there. He could see the top of the tent from over a hill. It was early morning, and the sun was nearly blinding him. Luckily, his helmet protected his eyes from the harmful rays. Dick felt a sudden rumbling noise and felt the earth beneath him shake.
At first he thought it was an earthquake, so he got off his bike for safety. The next thing he knew, a large collision to the head caused him to fall forward. Dick looked up to see a blond girl in a strange, white uniform. Were eyes were glowing yellow. Why did he have this sudden feeling of deja vu?
"It seems you forgot about me already, huh, Dickie?" she teased. She put on a fake pout. "I'm hurt... But then again, I let you live." The girl sneered. "And I won't make that same mistake again."
Everything came back to him. That girl was Terra, the little girl who saved him eight years ago only to kill him. Dick survived, but he had a strong feeling that if he lost this fight, she would make sure her job is completed.
"You don't have to do this," he said hastily, pulling himself back on his feet. "You don't have to kill me."
Terra laughed in response. Dick went into a fighting stance, preparing for battle. There was no way he would have stood a chance eight years ago against a metahuman, but now he was ready. She got into position. Her legs were firm, yet spread as she lifted her palms up. She gave an evil snarl that did not compliment that little girl Dick knew eight years ago. Dick screamed a battle cry while rushing forward.
He pulled out his bo-staff from his pants pocket. It felt odd not pulling the weapon from his utility belt as he was used to, but he pushed that thought aside. Metal clashed against rock. Terra tried to use her powers to pelt Robin, but he was too quick for her.
A rock-covered fist collided with Dick's gut. The force of the punch knocked the air out of him. He wheezed and panted while fighting just to get back up. Terra used this opening to her advantage. She kicked the bo-staff out of Dick's reach. She got on the ground and swung her legs across Dick's, tripping him into the ground. Dick had one hand on his stomach and the other on the back of his head. Another sense of deja vu ran through him when Dick felt the bleeding.
Terra towered over the now defenseless Titan. Dick growled at that realization and swung a punch towards Terra's chest. She dodged it in time, while smirking at her victim. Terra lifted a rock the size of Dick's head and rose it far above the ground.
"Say hello to your parents for me," she mocked.
Dick was terrified. Terra was going to finish him off, like Slade wanted years ago. This was it. His eyes widened at the jagged rock lost altitude above his head. Too hurt to move, Dick closed his eyes and turned his head to the side. He mentally prepared himself for death. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad. After all, he would see his parents again...
No. He couldn't think like that. His parents would want him to keep fighting. If he were to die by anyone's hands, it would be Slade's.
He rolled out of the way just before the rock crashed against the road he was on.
Dick threw a punch at Terra. She stumbled backwards to regain her footing. She crossed her arms to block further attacks from the boy wonder. When Terra found another opening, she grabbed Dick by the shoulder and forced him into the ground. The terrain scraped his cheeks as he struggled to free himself from her grip.
Suddenly, Terra weight was thrown off of him. Dick got up, seeing Terra several feet away from him. She was unconscious. To his other side, he found Starfire. Smoke was fading from her fists and her eyes glowed back to their normal forest green color.
"Starfire..." Dick gasped. "How- What-"
The princess helped her old friend up, "I escaped from Slade. I came here to warn you. Slade plans to kill you. You must stop him! After you die, he'll take over Jump City!"
Dick's eyes widened, "No way."
"We have to stop him."
"I know. I'm going to confront him."
Starfire set her hands on Dick's shoulders and squeezed gently, "You do not have to do this alone, Dick. You have me, and you have your friends. We'll fight together."
"What? My friends?"
Right on cue, Cyborg's car rolls into view. He parks in front of the due, and the window is rolled down to reveal Cyborg and Beast Boy.
"Hey, man! We've been looking for you!"
Beast Boy got out of the car to confront Robin.
"Listen, Dude. I just want to say sorry for... being a jerk. I shouldn't have mess with your personal life, and..." Beast Boy glanced at the inside of his arm, as if he had something written on it, "I hope you'll forgive me."
Dick smiled at his friend, "It's okay. I forgive you. Right now, though, we have bigger problems."
That was when Beast Boy found the unconscious girl.
"Dude! Is she dead?"
"No," Starfire answered. "She will awake, but she works for Slade. We cannot trust her."
Beast Boy crouched down to take a better look at her, "She's very pretty. If she works for Slade, then would that mean that she's forced to?"
Dick shook his head, "I don't know. We'll leave her here. When she wakes up, she'll be able to take care of herself. Count on it." Dick got on his motorcycle, "Let's go. Starfire, lead us to Slade."
Starfire nodded and flew off. Beast Boy formed into a pterodactyl and flew right behind her. Cyborg and Dick followed them in their respected vehicles.
We're going to bring Slade down once and for all! Dick thought. And we'll do it together!
Starfire slowed to a stop near the piers. Though it was still day, the sky had darkened with gray clouds threatening rain. The teens quietly grouped up. Robotic guards blocked their path.
"We'll need to get by them some how," Dick said.
"How can we do that?" Beast Boy asked.
Starfire spoke, "We cannot attack them. If the Sladebots feel threatened, then not only will they attack, they will alert Slade."
"So we distract them?" Cyborg piped. "How do we do that? You expect Beast Boy and I to dress in drag and do the hula?"
"LUAU!"
I'm going to murder Robin, Cyborg thought. He was currently dressed in a grass skirt, with a flower necklace around his neck. Next to him was Beast Boy, in the form of a pig. He had an apple in his mouth, and if he weren't green, he would look very appetizing.
The guards stopped what they were doing to observe Beast Boy and Cyborg's performance.
"If you're hungry for a hunk of fat and juicy meat. Eat my buddy, Beast Boy here because he is a treat! Come on down and dine. On this tasty swine. All you have to do is get in line! Are you achin'?"
"Yup. Yup. Yup."
"For some bacon?"
"Yup. Yup. Yup."
"He's a big pig!"
"Yup. Yup."
"You can be a big pig too. Oy!"
Somehow, the pelvic thrust was enough for the Sladebots to feel intimidated enough to attack them. Either that, or Slade found out. Cyborg and Beast Boy ran off screaming while the bots chased after them. Meanwhile, Dick and Starfire snuck in through the entrance.
"Keep your eyes open," Starfire whispered. Dick nodded as they crept through the warehouse. Starfire led Robin through metal doors, to reveal a room full of weapons and electronics. He was startled by how different his uncle was now. "This room contains important weapons for Slade's master plans."
"To think I'm related to this guy," he thought out loud.
Starfire pointed, "There."
Dick followed Starfire's finger to see a large machine. It was one of several that he could identify.
"No way. Is that-"
"A chronoton detonator. Slade never trusted me enough to know his full plans, but he has hinted of using this machine."
Dick ran his fingers lightly across the device. How could his uncle, a circus performer like the rest of them, become such a monster? He killed people. And he was willing to stoop so low as to kill his nephew. Dick's eyes widened as he glanced at the timer. The machine would go off in ten minutes.
"The entire city would be frozen forever if this goes off. We have to deactivate it."
"What a wonderful idea, 'Robin'."
Dick's eyes widened. Starfire didn't say that. She and Dick turned around to see a man in a metal, two-toned mask. Dick recognized the voice enough to know who he was.
"Slade," he scowled. "Why are you doing this? What's the purpose?"
"For the same reason I killed your parents," Slade explained. "They were in my way. Which is why now, you have to die along with them... like you should have eight years ago." Dick and Starfire got into position. Slade continued, "As for you, Koriand'r, it was foolish of you to return here. You should have escaped while you still can. You will die along with your childhood friend."
"I wouldn't have it any other way," she smirked.
The mercenary ran forward towards the duo. Both leaped in opposite directions just in time. Slade swung an arm to Dick's neck, but he caught it in time and leaped over the fist with the swiftness of an acrobat.
Slade continued battling the two teenagers. Starfire and Dick, both equally determined for victory, fought back against Dick's uncle, as if they have been battling together for years. Without uttering a word, they held their own against Slade. They swung uppercuts to Slade's chin simultaneously, sending Slade backwards. Dick walked up and towered over him.
"It's over, Slade. You lost."
In a blink of an eye, Dick had strong hands wrapped around his throat, and Slade pinned his body to the ground. Dick didn't move in fear that he would be chocked further.
"NO!" Starfire yelled. She flew up to kick Slade away from Dick, but she was grabbed by a Sladebot. She struggled uselessly against the machine.
"You're mine!" Slade spat in the hero's face. "I'll break your neck and I'll make her watch!"
Dick struggled against Slade's grip. He blocked his airway, making him fight just for short, strained gasps. He felt his vision blackening, but fought to stay awake. He had to. He made it this far, didn't he.
Starfire screamed in anguish against the grip on her. Several more Sladebots had joined to make sure she stayed out of the picture. Dick's vision was darkening, but on the verge of passing out, he heard what he could have sworn was a bull.
The pressure on Dick's neck immediately ceased as Beast Boy knocked Slade off of him. He turned to see Cyborg blasting at the Sladebots restraining Starfire. Once she was freed, and the Sladebots were destroyed, they grouped together against Slade.
"Titans, Go!" Dick yelled.
With four against one, Slade knew he was outnumbered. He would have trouble against four vigilante teenagers. He summoned more Sladebots to the warehouse, and the robots surrounded the teenagers. With their backs against each other, each hero taking a side, they got into position.
Slade casually placed his hands behind his back and walked through the thronging of Sladebots, that parted to make a path for their master.
"If you want me, Dick," Slade drawled, "then I'm right here."
He growled and lunged forward, but Cyborg caught his shoulder, "Don't fall for it, man. He wants you dead. If you leave yourself alone, he'll kill you."
"I'm never alone," he replied, remembering his parents' words. "You can handle the Sladebots. I'll go after Slade."
"DICK!" Starfire shouted, but the nephew and uncle were already out of sight.
Their distress for a lack of a teammate quickly faded as the Sladebots attacked them. The three heroes worked as fast as possible to destroy all of them and find Dick before it was too late. In the midst of the battle, their failed to see a Sladebot type in coordinates into the chronoton detonator.
Dick chased Slade through the warehouse. He looked behind him only to get in contact with a fist. Dick threw a punch at the origin of the attack, but failed to meet his target. It was dark in the warehouse, the only source of light being where the windows were. Since it was cloudy, however, it wasn't much.
Slade back flipped onto an upper level, where large gears were churning. Dick followed with double the grace. The two ascended higher while locked in combat. Dick didn't ever register that they were on the roof of the warehouse until he felt the cold winds brush him. Thunder rumbled in the background, their clouds pregnant with rain. Dick kept his focus on his enemy.
He wished he still had his utility belt.
"That was weak, Richard. Your so-called 'friends' never taught you to fight properly, did they?"
That did it. With a growl, Dick punched Slade in the face, causing the metal mask to break. Slade threw off the mask in aggression. It was too dark the see, but then a blinding flash of lightning highlighted Slade's face, followed by a roaring thunder. This was the face of the man Dick used to be close with.
"Why?" He found himself asking suddenly.
"Why what?"
"Why did you kill them?" Dick demanded. "Why did you kill my parents?! We were family! You were family! We loved you! Why did you take all that away?"
"Insolent child!" Slade barked. "Do you think I would have ever achieved my goal with my brother and his wife breathing down my neck? You were supposed to die with them, Richard, but fate has only prolonged your demise. This ends now!"
Their hands locked as they attempted to push each other. Both had their feet planted firmly on the ground, but Dick soon found himself sliding backwards. Slade continued to push his nephew until he was on the edge of the roof. Dick's eyes widened as he glanced at the fall that awaited him. He wasn't sure if he could survive falling from this height. Even if he did, he would still be good as dead. Completely in Slade's mercy.
The teen growled and twisted himself from his grip. Without thinking twice, Dick swung a foot at Slade. The force was enough to push the mercenary back. Dick gasped as Slade stumbled and fell off the ledge. He ran to where Slade was standing not two seconds before and peered down in awe at the scene below.
Slade groaned in response to the pain searing through his body. He wouldn't die from this, and he knew it; however, Slade had to get to safety to recover. According to the damaged trash bins next to him, and the sharp pain in his leg, he must have injured it during the fall. Slade shakily stood back up, careful not to apply too much pressure in his left leg. He turned to limp away into the darkness when a familiar silhouette of a girl appeared before him.
When he saw it was Terra, he felt relieved. His voice was rash and hoarse, "Terra. Help me away from here, and all will be forgiven. The detonator will go off in about five minutes."
The pain returned to Slade's leg, and he grabbed onto the wall for support. While he talked, he didn't notice Terra pouring liquid around the disabled man. He could smell it, though.
"Help me, apprentice. Before they come. We're not currently able to take down all four of them."
"I'm aware of that, 'Master'."
The way that Terra said "Master" seemed off. Slade lifted his head. Unknown to the two of them, Dick watched, and his eyes widened. He knew what Terra was planning to do before Slade did.
"I'm tired of your threats, Slade," she sneered. "How can I be your apprentice when you never respect me? Sure, you say you do, but you don't mean it. You're nothing but a manipulator. A liar. And a murderer. And you made me kill for you."
Slade said nothing, but if looks could kill, Slade would have slaughtered Terra a hundred times over. Terra tried not to be intimidated as she continued.
"The first time you made me kill Dick, that was my first hint that you didn't care. I thought he was dead, and never once did you comfort me. I was a child, Slade! And so was Dick. But now," She smiled. Dick watched her in the darkening sky as she pulled something out of her pocket. It wasn't until a flame ignited did Dick recognize the items as a lighter and match. "you'll die Slade. Just like your brother and his wife. Just like so many others you killed. Like everyone you forced me and Starfire to kill."
She dropped the match and took a couple steps back to avoid the flames. Even from Dick's angle, she seemed terrifying. Part of his mind ached to jump down there and save Slade. He knew it was the right thing to do. But then, he remembered all the horrible crimes Slade committed. He allowed himself to breathe, at least thankful that it wasn't him making the final blow on his uncle.
Slade coughed from the mixture of the carbon monoxide and the pain in his lungs. He wanted to run through or jump over the flames, but he knew he couldn't in his condition. For once in a long time, Slade felt actual fear.
The familiar glow in Terra's eyes appeared as she lifted a chunk of cement with her powers. Dick knew that she wanted to kill him, and he wouldn't stop her. He turned back to find his friends. He didn't need to see any more to know what will happen to Slade. If and when Terra kills Slade, that would be on her, not Dick. Will he ever forgive her for the things Terra did to him? Maybe. But now wasn't the time to worry about that.
Dick found that Starfire, Beast Boy, and Cyborg were all safe, and the robots were all destroyed. All at once, the four of them exchanged smiles, grateful that everyone is safe.
"What happened to Slade?" Beast Boy asked.
Three pairs of eyes turned to Robin, "I pushed him over the roof. When he tried to get back up, Terra came and confronted Slade... She killed him."
A moment of silence passed as this sank into the teenagers.
"So we are victorious?" Starfire asked.
"No. The chronoton detonator is still on. We have to shut it down."
They ran towards the machine. It only had three minutes left.
Cyborg walked up to it, "I can shut it down." He pulled our several tools and began probing it.
Dick walked away from Cyborg, and stared out at the opposite wall, as if it were much more fascinating to him. Starfire noticed this, and she joined him.
"Is something bothering you?" She asked.
He sighed, "It's over. My uncle's dead, and Cyborg's deactivating the detonator. I'm just wondering about what I'm going to do after this."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, when we get back home, what should I do with me life? Should I go back to the circus? Should I keep being a Teen Titan? Or should I start living a new life?"
Starfire grabbed his hand with both of hers, "I have been thinking the same thing. I am not sure what I want to do now that Slade is no more. I was considering joining your team-"
"What? You want to join the Teen Titans?"
She nodded, "If it is alright with you and your teammates, then yes."
"Of course you can join our team, Star. I want... I want to be with you," Dick blushed a delicate shade of pink and turned his head to his left. "I... I think I..."
"Robin?"
"Yes?" Dick looked back into Starfire's beautiful green eyes.
She leaned closer to him, "Stop talking," she whispered. Her lips and Dick's met, and they kissed passionately. The kiss was full of warmth and energy, and neither had felt so alive.
Cyborg had shut off the machine without error. Now that the chronoton detonator wasn't distracting him and Beast Boy, the duo turned to see what Robin and Starfire were doing. Cyborg smiled softly at the sight of the two love birds kissing. Beast Boy gawked at them, wide-eyed, and was about to say something. Luckily, Cyborg covered his mouth with his hand before the changeling could say something to ruin this beautiful moment.
When the couple broke away, they rested their foreheads against each other and smiled softly.
"Well, It's about time," Cyborg commented.
The four Titans walked outside. The rain had finally started, and it will wash away any fire Terra left behind. Robin and Starfire held hands while Cyborg and Beast Boy chatted with each other and the new couple.
-EPILOGUE-
FIVE YEARS LATER
Dick grew older, into the strong, young man he was destined to be. Now at the age of twenty-one, Dick was happily married to Starfire. Garfield, Victor, Dick, and Koriand'r became a strong, formidable team. The sorceress, Raven, watched over them, and sometimes even joined their battles. Dick grew out of his Robin persona and became a new hero: An acrobat called Nightwing.
The heroes of Jump City waited in the hospital room of Titans' Tower. Dick and Starfire's child was being born.
"I can't wait to meet their son," Beast Boy said. "Dick said I'll be his uncle."
Cyborg laughed, "Yeah, sure, Gar. But I'LL be his godfather."
"I can't wait to play stank ball with the little guy!"
"And play football with him," Cyborg added. "This will be awesome!"
Raven opened the door for them to enter. Beast Boy and Cyborg entered the room to see Starfire laying in bed with a bundled up white blanket in her arms. Dick was by her side, smiling widely at the bundle. Walking closer, they saw the baby. It was a soft, peach color, with dark hair like its father's.
"He's so cute," Beast Boy smiled.
"Yeah, congrats, guys," Cyborg said. "What are you going to name him?"
Somehow, that question made Starfire and Dick laugh, which confused the two others. Raven rolled her eyes at the boys' ignorance.
"It's a girl," she said bluntly.
"Oh," they both said.
Beast Boy smiled, "A girl..."
"Right," Cyborg said. "Our little girl..."
They both paused for a moment, and their eyes widened in realization.
"A GIRL?!"
-THE END-
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I finally finished my first story. I think it took so long because the chapters were really long- over 8,000 words per chapter! Tell me what you think. My next Disney crossover will be The Pacifier, featuring the Titans as the Plummer kids and Slade as Shane. I got this idea recently, in fact. Any objections? The update will be on Saturday, January 10th.
