This chapter ahs slight romance… just fyi
His mysterious illness cleared up as he got older, and soon enough he was sent on more and more lessons. The more missions he was sent on the less he saw of Sakura, granted she became as busy if not more busy than him, and slowly they started to drift apart. Their friend ship of five years didn't get strained; rather it just started to dissolve. Eventually he didn't look for her after he got back from a mission, but he would still be pleasantly surprised to see her around Konoha.
After returning from a particularly bad mission, he longed to go see her, but instead he wandered to where they first met. To his surprise, sitting against the wall was Sakura, and from where he was he could see the stream of tears.
He was crouching in front of her in seconds, she looked up at him "A ninja shouldn't cry." He whispered his hands cupping her cheeks and wiping away the tears.
"b-but I, I m-m-miss you." She sobbed, Hayate sighed before hugging her close to him. She wrapped her arms around him and buried her face into his shoulder.
"Come on, let's go to my place… I have some dango if you want any."
Sakura's head nodded against his shoulder, and in seconds Hayate was carrying her towards his apartment. Reaching his apartment he chuckled when he noticed she had fallen asleep on him, like she had five years ago. Taking her to his bedroom he was surprised when he noticed she wouldn't let him go.
Sighing he laid down next to her, and was out in seconds. In the morning, he woke to an empty bed, and a heavenly smell. Wandering into the kitchen he smiled when he saw Sakura cooking bacon, eggs, biscuits, and gravy. Creeping closer to her, he tried to sneak a piece of bacon. Sakura turning into him was not in the plan. Her eye's widened and her lips parted in a silent "o" of surprise.
Hayate, in a moment of surprise for both of them, swooped down and kissed her. Her eye's darkened and as Hayate started to straighten, Sakura's arms wrapped around his neck and she followed him with her lips.
And tah-dah the ending… its kinda a cliffy, but I wanted the readers to take it away… so to speak
