AN/ I think im gonna do another time skip after the next chapter, so theres some Froggy action and stuff...
The girl led me to one of the rooms we walked through previously, and had me sit on a couch. "How long have you been vamped?" Her voice was high pitched, like she didn't talk often.
"A couple years... I forget what year it is now though" I spoke softly, nervous of the interaction with a strange vampire.
"Yeah that happens" she sat down beside me. "Didn't Davey have more in his group?"
"David?" I asked her.
"Yeah, David" she looked at me as if I were dumb.
I was silent for a moment, trying to figure out how to word the reply I was going to give. "Yeah, there were three more of us" my answer started out well, but the more I spoke, the more I heard my voice crack. "We listened to Max, another vampire, and that led to a run in with slayers..." my voice trailed off.
"Widow never liked Max. My names Elli by the way" she said, her blonde ponytail swaying as her head moved.
"Raven" I said. "How come no one told David about Max?"
"I don't know" she responded. "Fancy a drink?" I nodded and she left. Elli came back with what looked like root beer bottles. "AB neg" she handed me a bottle.
"Why do you bottle it?" I asked.
"To preserve it. Plus it gets rid of all the human interaction. Besides the collector." Ellie said back.
That was kinda stupid. "But where's the fun in that?"
"It gets rid of the mess. Especially with newbies" I took offense to that. I'm not that new, but still. I wasn't aware I made a mess.
"So is everyone here vampires?" I asked, trying to set aside my opinion.
"No. Some of the vampires here enjoy the thrill of human contact, and the taste that fear brings. Personally I don't enjoy it. It makes it taste bitter" she said as she took a drink, and encouraged me to do so as well. It didn't smell too appetizing, but I didn't want to be rude so I took a drink. I almost spit it out. Freshly hunted blood tasted bitter? And this was better? What was Ellie smoking? I had to fight to hide my facial expression.
"Not...the best... but I guess it's okay" I lied. What vampire would want to drink from a freaking bottle? It was like human cough syrup. Ellie was about to speak when we heard footsteps.
"So who's the baby vamp?" These guys looked like hair metal punks. The one who spoke had an awesome vest, decorated with pins and studs galore.
"Davey's newborn" Ellie told him after finishing her drink. Why did she call him Davey? His name was David. And how the heck did she finish the disgusting bottled blood so fast?
"Raven" I said after her. I wasn't gonna be called 'Davey's newborn' to everyone. I had a name.
Pins and studs introduced the new group. "I'm Jesse. This is Marlin and Adam" Marlin had short, black, spiky hair, and Adam had the greenest eyes id seen drowned in eyeliner. Each waved as they were introduced. "You don't have to drink that" Jesse looked at the bottle in my hands.
"She likes it" Ellie said, and encouraged me to take another drink. I was hesitant but took another sip, and my face distorted slightly from the taste.
"Nah, that face says it all" Marlin spoke with his deep voice.
"What face?" Ellie looked at me.
"All in the miniscule details" Marlin replied to her.
"We should go hunting for real. That bottled crap doesn't have any flavor" Jesse said. "Wanna come?" He held out his hand to me.
"I'd rather wait for my friend" I told him.
"David? He's in conference with Widow. He'll be there a bit. Come on, he won't miss ya" Adams green eyes peered through his hair.
I debated a bit before finally setting my bottle down and standing. "Okay. Where are we going?"
"Just around town" Jesse told me. "I find the streets the best hunting ground. Marlin prefers the sea. What cuisine do you prefer Raven?"
"I guess... the beach? Parties were always fun" I spoke softly. My shyness was really starting to kick in.
"Beach parties? I've never crashed one of those" Adam said.
"My brothers and I used to all the time... although we often shared" I said.
"There's some blood sacks here tonight, roaming the house. We can hunt here, while your creator is in conference" Jesse suggested, his long wavy hair swaying as his neck moved.
"We can openly kill humans here?" I asked.
"No, but you can herd them into a private room. The other humans won't notice" Marlin informed me.
Jesse held out his hand again. "Come, lets hunt together, you and me" Ellie just stared at me as I nodded and we walked away. "She's somewhat vegetarian. Believes hunting is inhumane"
"But we're not human, so it doesn't matter" I said back to him.
"Exactly. Your teacher was brilliant" he told me.
I looked at him sadly. "I had four teachers." I cleared up my facial expression. "But that's in the past" two humans passed us and we turned to follow them.
There was a boy and a girl, Jesse called dibs on the girl. The two went into a room, and shut the door, only for Jesse to open it. This wasn't really my idea of a hunt, but anything was better than the bottle. Jesse went in first, grabbing the naked girl and pulling her away from a bed into the corner. I went in next, shutting and locking the door behind us before descending on the male who hadn't even realized his entertainment had been snatched.
How long had it been since I last 'hunted?' No matter, now was time to feed, and I could feel the adrenaline and endorphins radiating from the male as I grabbed him and pulled him to me, tilting his head to one side and letting my own endorphins change my face, allowing my fangs to drop and my human mask to slip. I licked his neck before sinking my fangs, not caring about the mess, just wanting to get that bitter taste out of my .mouth.
His warm blood as sweet, and copper-like. It was like sucking on a penny. The liquid flooded my mouth and slid down my throat. It seemed like the less mess I tried to make, the more I did, but I didn't care right now. All thought and planning kinda left when I fed. It always did. Dwayne said it was because I was new. When he was drained however, my face relaxed and my limbs were tingly. Feeding almost made me feel high sometimes.
I looked over at Jesse, who looked oddly cat-like in his vampire form. He was just finishing up. "What do we do with the bodies?" I wiped my chin with my sleeve.
"We can leave them. Clean up will begin at nine" Jesse walked toward me.
"They have a cleanup service?" I asked.
"Yeah. This is basically a vampire party house. Humans come to us, and then other humans clean for us. It's an odd system but I guess it works" he told me. "You missed a spot" Jesse leaned in like he was going to kiss me, but I slapped him and ran to find David, who was looking for me.
"Where have you been?" He asked. My hand still stung.
"I was hunting" I told him as I finished wiping my mouth. I looked down at myself, not a single blood drop. Hows that for Messy.
At first David looked furious, and then he relaxed. "We have orders, Raven"
"Orders?" I asked him.
