Tenten looks up from her hiding place in the bushes as Neji activates his byakugan.
"Eight down there to your left, Tenten," he says through the radio, his voice surprisingly clear. They're testing a new series of tiny microphones connected to earbuds that Lady Tsunade bought from Sunagakure. "Three are close enough for you to take down."
"Roger that!" Tenten whispers cheerfully, already feeling the adrenaline rush that always comes with battle. "I'll take care of those ones, and Neji you can get the rest. Lee, I'll need you to take care of those two by the boulder we saw earlier."
"YOSH!" Lee shouts into his radio from another tree. Tenten stifles a sigh as his voice pierces her eardrums. Maybe these radios are a little too good. More importantly, the ninja below have been alerted to their presence because of Lee and they're looking around suspiciously.
"Go now," Tenten orders, exasperated (this is her first time leading a mission and she will be damned if this isn't a success), before streaking out from her cover and stabbing someone with her kunai.
There is a certain peace, a headiness, in engaging in combat with one's best friends, with people who would die for each other in a heartbeat, with people who know each other better than they know themselves. Tenten is filled with a fierce, wild joy when she unfurls her scroll and Neji automatically covers for her behind and Lee pushes his enemies into her line of fire and, as her precious weapons rain death below, she grins.
