"Bad Moon Rising"

Sorry for the delay. Please enjoy and review!

Currently Elena and Chris had gone to the Salvatore boarding house to talk about the Lockwood family with Damon, Stefan and Alaric.

"Now why would I know anything about the Lockwoods?" Alaric asked as he stood in the parlor with the group.

"Well, you wouldn't. But your not-dead vampire wife might." Damon points out.

"Isobel's research from when you guys were at Duke together." Elena said.

"You said that you spent years researching this town." Stefan reminded.

"Isobel's research here in Mystic Falls rooted in folklores and legends, but at the time I thought much of which was fiction." Alaric told them.

"Like vampires and witches." Chris spoke up making Damon smirk as he leaned against the couch behind her.

"Aside from vampires and witches, what else?" Elena asked the vampire hunter after she sent an amused look in her sister's direction.

"The lycanthropes." Alaric said.

Hearing the name of the creatures made Chris tense up as she thought back to the night she was killed once again.

"Wait, like werewolves?" Elena asked skeptically.

"No way, impossible, way too Lon Chaney." Damon scoffs.

"Is it?" Stefan asked.

"I've been on this planet 160 some odd years, never came across one. If werewolves exist, where the hell are they?" Damon asked.

"Maybe they're in hiding." Chris suggested.

"Why do you suspect the Lockwoods?" Alaric asked the Salvatore brothers.

"Because vervain didn't affect the mayor at Founder's Day, but the Gilbert device did and it affected his son Tyler." Damon explained.

"And at the school carnival his uncle Mason exhibited inhuman behavior when he fought with one of the carnival's workers." Stefan added.

"And I think George Lockwood was a werewolf." Chris said making everyone look at her.

"Who?" Alaric asked since he didn't recognize the name.

"George Lockwood is an ancestor of Tyler's." Stefan explained.

"He was a dick." Damon crossed his arms.

"What makes you think that George was a werewolf?" Elena asked the young witch.

The caramel haired girl became nervous then as her sister and friends all focused their eyes on her, curious for an explanation.

"Um, because on the night I was killed, I saw George that night. He looked like...he was transforming. He told me to run and afterwards, I was attacked by a wolf. I think that maybe...it was George that killed me." Chris said nervously.

"What?" Alaric asked in confusion.

"What?" Elena asked feeling stunned.

"What?!" Stefan and Damon yelled in outrage.

Chris simply gave a nervous grin up at the two vampires who stood behind her.

"Yeah." she muttered.

"It was George all this time?" Stefan whispered in disbelief.

"That son of a bitch. I knew I hated him. You are not allowed being near anyone with the last name Lockwood." Damon ordered.

Alaric sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck and looked over at Elena who was watching this go on with worry and amusement reflecting in her eyes.

"Damon, don't overeact." Chris stood up as she turned to face the brothers.

"Oh, no. He's not overeacting. You're not allowed near the Lockwoods. Not alone at least." Stefan placed his hands on his waist.

"So what? I'm just supposed to avoid being around them? How am I supposed to do that?" Chris asked as she stood up.

Tyler went to the same school as her and Mason was old friends with Jenna; there was no way she could avoid the two men so easily.

"Who cares how? Just stay away from them!" Damon exclaimed.

Shaking her head in disbelief, Chris stepped around the two brothers and started leaving the boarding house.

"Where are you going?" Stefan demanded as he turned to watch her.

"I'm going over to Caroline's. I promised to help her out today." Chris informed.

"Wait, are you sure that's a good idea?" Elena asked as she stood up and made her way over to her sister.

Stopping, Chris turned to face her sister who had a look of consern on her face.

Vicki was dangerous when she was going through her first week as a vampire and let her emotions rule her, attacking everyone around her.

Chris still had the scar on her neck to prove how dangerous it was to be around a new born vampire.

"I'm sure. Caroline's my friend and she's scared. I can help her and if she seems like she's about to hurt me, then I've got my powers to protect me. You've seen what I can do. I'm not a helpless little girl." Chris said.

Elena smiled at that knowing she was right, but it didn't stop her from worrying over the younger girl.

"Alright. Go see Caroline. I'll see you later." Elena told her.

"Okay." Chris nodded as she then left the house.

About an hour later, the young witch had found her way to the Forbes' house and was walking up onto the steps when she found Matt.

He was backing away from the door and turned around, stunned to see Chris standing there behind him as she looked at him curiously.

"Chris, hey. What are you doing here?" The blond asked as he stepped down the porch.

"I'm here to see Caroline. She hasn't been feeling too well so I came to check on her." Chris explained.

"Really? What's wrong with her?" Matt asked in worry.

He was worried that there were still a few lingering pain or side affects from the car crash; she had almost died after all.

"She's just... I don't know. I think she's still a bit scared from almost dying. It's a hard thing to go through." Chris said.

"Well, I don't know if she's home. She didn't answer the door or pick up her phone." Matt sighed.

"She's probably in her room resting or in the shower. I'll tell her you stopped by." Chris assured.

"Okay. Thanks, Chris. I'll see ya later." Matt placed a hand on her shoulder and then walked over to his truck.

Waving at the blond until he had gotten in his truck and drove off, Chris sighed as she then walked up to the door and peered inside.

"Care? Are you there?" She called.

Seeing movement inside the house, she knew that the newborn vampire was inside and couldn't walk towards the door because of a beam of sunlight blocking her path.

Stepping back from the door, Chris narrowed her eyes as she focussed on her powers and the door was flung open.

Caroline was standing there as she stared at the caramel haired girl in surprise, but was slowly getting used to the fact that her best friend was a witch.

"Did you hear everything?" Chris asked.

"Yeah. Thanks for covering for me." Caroline said as the younger girl stepped into the room and closed the door behind her.

"It's no problem. I don't understand what you're going through, but I'm going to be here to help you out." Chris told her.

Caroline smiled as tears started to well up in her eyes and pulled Chris into a hug, taking deep breaths to calm herself and ignore the sound of the girl's beating heart.

Pulling out of the hug, Chris then smiled at Caroline when she saw how hard she was fighting to keep control and was doing an amazing job compared to Stefan when he first became a vampire.

He had confessed to her that he had gone insane over the blood lust and became a Ripper and struggled for years trying to keep control and always needed Lexi at his side to help pull him out of it.

"Come on, why don't we go make some food. It'll help curb the cravings until Stefan takes you out hunting." The witch said.

"Okay. So, what am I going to be hunting anyway?" Caroline asked as the girls walked into the kitchen.

Flicking her fingers, Chris made the curtains fall down over the windows to block out the sunlight so it was safe for Caroline to wander around in the room.

"You're gonna be hunting animals. It might not be as satisifying as human blood, but it'll keep you alive and you can get by on it." She explained.

"Wait, let me get this straight. I'm going to be eating cute little woodland animals? What, did I evolve into one of those vampires from Twilight?" Caroline scoffed.

"Oh, no way. You're way cooler than those guys." Chris grinned.

Caroline gave a small smile as she watched her friend go through the fridge and pulled out lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and some sandwhich meat and then set them on the counter so that they could begin making their meal.

"Will it ever get better? Being a vampire, I mean. Does it ever get better?" Caroline then asked.

"Honestly, I don't know. I think it depends on the person. You have to want to be better. Do you want to be a blood sucking monster who enjoys killing people?" Chris asked seriously.

"No. I just want to be me again." Caroline sighed.

"You still are you. You're just going through some stuff right now. You'll be fine." Chris smiled.

This made the new vampire give a smile, hoping that she would be able to live normally with the help of her friend.

(Later on...)

Elena and Damon had gone to Duke with Alaric to search through some of Isobel's old research while Stefan managed to convince Bonnie to create a daylight ring for Caroline so she could walk around in the sun to help her go back to living normally.

Everyone was gathered in the blonde's room with Chris sitting on the bed with her best friend while Stefan was sitting on a chair beside the bed and Bonnie was standing in front of the girls holding Emily's grimoire.

"So, I don't get to choose the ring I have to wear the rest of my life?" Caroline sniped as she stared down at the silver ring that the older witch had brought.

"Hey, if you don't want it..." Bonnie trailed off.

"No, no. She wants it." Stefan assures.

Reaching over, Chris held Caroline's hand to try and provide some comfort and the new vampire took a breath to try and calm herself.

"Now what?" Caroline asked.

"Now is the part where I explain the rules. The witch who spells the ring has the power to dispel it so if you ever do anything to hurt anyone..." Bonnie warned.

"I'm not gonna hurt anyone." Caroline said quickly.

"You are a vampire. That means the urge to kill is a part of who you are. The minute you let it take over, I will stop you." Bonnie threatened.

"Bonnie! That's enough." Chris said firmly.

"You're supposed to be my friend!" Caroline cried.

"I can't ignore what happened, okay? If you want to be my friend, you have to prove that the Caroline I remember isn't gone." Bonnie told her.

"Bonnie, just stop. Caroline is the same person she's always been. I know this because, unlike you, I've actually been spending time with her. Just get over your issues and help our friend." Chris glared.

Stefan felt the chair he was sitting on begin to rise off the floor and grew worried that Chris' powers were reacting to her emotions once again and she was getting very annoyed.

"Chris, she murdered somebody!" Bonnie exclaimed.

"And so has Stefan, and yet you seem to trust him pretty well!" Chris exclaimed as she jumped to her feet.

"Okay, Chris, calm down!" Stefan said as he quickly stood and pulled the girl into his side.

"Bonnie, I know you have issues with vampires because of your grams' death, but you need to stop. Caroline is still our friend. She didn't choose this. Katherine forced this on her. And besides, you're the one who told Damon to give her your blood. If that had never happened, then Caroline wouldn't be a vampire right now. So get over yourself and cast the damn spell, or else get the hell out of here." Chris warned.

Bonnie was stunned with the inner rage that was shining through the normally shy and innocent girl's eyes while Caroline was amazed by the small objects that started floating around the room.

Stefan pulled the girl closer and started whispering in her ear to try and calm her down, warning her that if she didn't stop then she might accidentally harm someone.

Taking in a deep breath, the young witch allowed herself to calm down as the preasure in her head faded away and the objects fell down.

"You okay?" Stefan asked as he brushed her caramel locks out of her face.

"Yeah, I'm fine. This has just...been such a long and hard week." She sighed.

First Katherine had arrived and attacked John, then she started attacking all of Chris' friends, Jeremy tried to turn himself into a vampire and now Caroline was dealing with the horrors of being a vampire and Bonnie was pouring out all her anger of the race on the innocent blonde.

All of this drama was going to drive her insane sooner or later.

"Look, I'm sorry. It's just... I am so frustratded with everything that has been happening. I already lost a lot of people in my life that I care about and I don't want to lose Caroline too. Bonnie, please. Just cast the spell." Chris begged with tears and guilt shining in her eyes.

Seeing how much the 15 year old seemed to have aged over the year, Bonnie decided to push aside her feelings for now just to make Chris happy.

After everythign she had been through, she needed something good in her life even if that was her vampire best friend.

"Caroline, put the ring on the bed." Bonnie said.

Nodding at this, Caroline placed the ring on the bed where the sunlight was shining down on it.

Closing her eyes, Bonnie then recited the spell in her mind before she then opened them when she felt the spell was complete.

"All done." She said.

"Thank you." Chris said as she slumped against Stefan.

Picking up the ring with the tiny blue gemstone, Caroline slid it onto her finger and looked it over curiously.

"So that's it? I mean, nothing witchy happened. You know, no flickering lights, no gust of wind." Caroline said.

"Magic doesn't always work like that, Care." Chris told her.

"I just want to make sure that it worked." Caroline said as Bonnie then pulled the curtains open making the girl shriek in shock.

When she didn't burn and there was no smoke, the girl gasped in relief and in anger as she looked over at Bonnie who looked a bit smug.

"It worked." Bonnie stated.

"What if it hadn't, Bonnie?" Caroline demanded.

"She's all yours." Bonnie told Stefan as she then walked off.

"Right." He said.

Groaning, Chris threw herself down on the bed as she tried to will away the headache she felt forming and Caroline grinned as she leaned into the sunlight.

Stefan was going to have his hands full for sure with a baby vampire to train and dealing with a hormonal witch.

"Okay, it's time to go hunting. Chris, you wanna come with us or do you want me to drop you off at home?" Stefan asked.

"I think I'll go home for now. I need a nap." She moaned.

"Is she going to be okay? I mean, I've never seen anything like that before." Caroline spoke up.

"Chris' powers are tied to her emotions. When she feels upset or angry, objects begin to float or levitate around the room." Stefan explained.

"It's not going to hurt her, is it?" The blonde asked in worry.

"Caroline, I'm right here. Thousands of women have gone through what I have and they survived it." Chris said as she sat up.

Maybe she should talk to Cera to find out why her head constantly hurts and why her powers always acts up when she gets emotional.

"Okay, come on. I'll take you home and your can relax there. I'll be back in a few minutes, Caroline." Stefan told the blonde.

"Okay." She nodded hoping her friend would be alright.

Moving her to the young witch, the sandy haired male scooped her up into his arms carefully and then took off with his vampire speed, quickly leaving the Forbes' house and making his way over to the Gilbert home.

Soon enough, the eternal teenager stopped in front of the house and set the girl down on her feet as he kept his arms around her waist to keep her steady.

"Alright, here we are. You sure you're going to be okay?" Stefan asked.

"I'll be fine, Stefan. I just-I just need to try and get a better grip on myself. Maybe spending some time alone for a few hours and forgetting about this mess will help." Chris told him.

"If you're sure. I'll call you later, okay?" Stefan informed her.

"Okay. Go, help Caroline. I'll be safe here. John left a bunch of vervain for me to use." She assured him.

"Good. Get some sleep and stay away from the Lockwoods." He said making her give him a look.

"Don't start acting like Damon." She said making him grin.

"We're just trying to look out for you. I'll be back later." Stefan said.

"Go then. I'll be fine on my own. Stop being such a worry wart." Chris told him as she gently pushed the vampire back.

"Fine." Stefan grinned as he then took off and Chris released a sigh as she then walked inside.

Walking into the house, she looked around for any sight of her aunt, but the strawberry blonde wasn't around.

"Jenna! You home?" She called as she jogged up the stairs.

Hearing movement in her room, she smiled as she then made her way over to see if Jenna was inside placing some laundry on her bed.

"Hey, Jen-"She trailed off when she opened the door.

Standing in the center of the room was a certain 500 year old vampire who was staring down at a picture of Chris being hugged between Jeremy and Elena.

"This is cute. It's so sweet to see how close you are to your siblings." The curly haired woman grinned.

"Katherine." Chris narrowed her eyes.

"What, no more Kat? I'm hurt, Alex. We used to be like sisters." Katherine pouted.

"That was a different life. Why are you here?" Chris demanded.

"It's a full moon tonight. I wanted to make sure you didn't go out. Wouldn't want history to repeat itself, especially in this town." Katherine mused.

"You knew it was George all this time didn't you?" Chris asked.

Tossing the picture on the bed, Katherine then walked over to the younger girl and stared at her to look her over and a small frown began to form when she spotted the scar on Chris' neck.

"I managed to get a confession out of him. Of course, fighting the urge to rip his heart out was pretty difficult. But he got what he deserved later on." Katherine smirked as she placed a hand on her hip.

"I'm not the same person I used to be. I can protect myself." Chris said.

Amber eyes met hazel as the vampire and witch stared each other down until a pair of ruby red lips curled upwards.

"Yeah, I can see that. You're stronger, more confident. You're all grown up." Katherine mused.

"And I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. Ones that I will gladly use on you if you don't get the hell out of my house." Chris glared.

As the staredown continued, Katherine then stepped back from the girl and gave a cheery smile.

"Okay then, if you wnated me to leave, then all you had to do was ask." She said as she then started leaving the room.

"Wait!" Chris called making the brunette pause.

"Why did you turn Caroline?" The 15 year old asked as she turned around to look at the vampire.

Turning around, Katherine looked at her.

"Originally I wanted to do it just to hurt Elena. She was just so weak and insecure, I knew she was the perfect one to target. But then I realized something. She was moving in on my territory. I don't like sharing, Alex. It's bad enough you have my preppy little doppelganger in your life, but I refuse to let some blonde little twit move in on you." Katherine answered honestly.

"You touch and I will kill you." Chris warned as she felt anger surging to the surface.

Katherine remained silent at that as she then left and Chris then released a deep breath, exhausted from the long day she had gone through and it was barely the afternoon.

Cera then appeared in the room as she enveloped her daughter into a hug, kissing her temple to try and sooth the frustraded witch.

"Everything will be alright, honey. Don't worry so much. You're strong and a fighter. Just keep your head held high for now." Cera cooed.

"Thanks, Cera. I'll try, but it's hard." Chris sighed as she leaned into the touch.

"Get some sleep. You're going to need it." The spirit said.

Disappearing in a flurry of lights, Cera left the girl to get her rest and Chris yawned as she then made her way over to her nice soft bed which she happily crawled into.

"Oh, I don't think I ever want to leave my bed ever again." She moaned.

To be continued...
