A/N: Wow! 3 years this story has been collecting dust... Reason why this was on a hiatus was because I had other fanfictions in mind to do and I just couldn't bring myself to write anymore of it. My life has been a bit hectic, too. So much has happened to me in the past 3 years that I could never find the time or motivation to finish this story. Someone recently wanted the next chapter so here it is :
[I hope I can finish this before I have to move]

Chapter 2
Hikari makes plans to come back to Japan. A lot has happened since she was gone. She couldn't believe that Riho was an orphan now, living at an orphanage. But she was going to the high school that Hikari had went to. Was Riho alone now?
She packed her clothes, got her tickets and passport ready in her coat pocket, and left the hotel. She entered the airport, done the necessary steps to boarding a plane, and was seated near a window. She watched the clouds of the early morning roll by. She should be back in Kagawa no later than somewhere around 9 P.M. She called her parents ahead of time, telling them that she will be coming back home.
"Oh, I'm glad you're making your way here. But did you not find anything?" her mother had asked.
"No, not really. I took a few newspaper and journalist jobs for a while just to have some money. But... I was just homesick, I guess, so..." Hikari explained. That wasn't the real reason why she was on the plane toward home. She was silent so her mother spoke up on the other end of the line.
"You're worried about Riho, too?" Her mother seemed to know her so well.
She remembered getting a phone call sometime this year about Riho surviving a murder on her family. Hearing that made Hikari uneasy. She did cry herself to sleep that night upon hearing the news. She felt guilty for leaving Riho all alone. They were like sisters, after all.
"Yeah."
Hikari woke out of her daze to a flight attendant asking her if she'd like a drink or something to eat. She didn't want anything right now. It was about to be lunch time so she'd wait. The seat beside her was empty so she didn't have no trouble keeping quiet. Her thoughts kept her quiet, thinking. Out the window she looked again.
'Don't worry, Riho. I'm coming.'
After she had lunch, which was a sandwich and a choice of drink, she decided to take a nap. She had an alarm set on her watch to tell her that it was night time and should be landing soon. But she couldn't really sleep. Her eyes closed for 15 minutes at most and she was awake again.
She was definitely going to go to sleep tonight. She'd stay at her parent's house for a little while until she could find some place for her to live. Like an apartment. Then she'd have to find herself a job, and have enough time to spend with Riho, making sure she had all she needed.
Her thoughts suddenly returned to the dream she had the night before. That dark figure with cat like eyes and sharp fangs. She shivered. She couldn't stop thinking about the man... she assumed it was a man. She felt so drawn to him that she was letting him drink her blood. That warmth that she had always felt calmed her and she fell asleep for an hour. Afternoon passed by quickly, the orange red sky and clouds told her that night was approaching.
She pulled out her laptop and decided to check out the news in Japan. In Kagawa there was mysterious cases where corpses of people looked like mummies, blood drained. Hikari was interested, and a little frightened.
"Hm. I wonder who are investigating these cases."
Little did she know that there was evil waiting in her hometown.
Finally landing, she stretched from the very long trip and couldn't wait to breath in the air that she missed. She grabbed her laptop bag, got off to pick up her luggage, and got a taxi to take her into town, very close to her home. In the backseat, she saw the lights of the city and buildings. When they passed dark places she couldn't stop the chills she got. Something wasn't right. She wasn't wrong before. This was the same feeling she felt that one day when she and Riho went shopping and walking home.
She was silent all the way. Before she knew it she was home. The door opened for her and her mother and father hugged her. She was glad to be home. The tears she held from this morning now fell down her face. Her heart ached so much she thought that she'd explode or something.
"Are you coming home to stay?" they asked her.
She thought and thought. There wasn't much in America as there was here. And she'd pay a fortune just to visit Japan. Hikari replied with a smile,"Yes, I think I'll stay here. I think I belong here and am needed here."
They hugged for the last time and then let her go to her old room. She walked up the stairs and opened the door to her room. Everything was where it had been. Dust collected though she'd been gone for only a year and a few months. In her desk chair she sat a few of her bags down. She dropped her clothes bag and slipped off her shoes. It was almost 10 according to the clock on her bedside stand. She didn't bother undressing from her clothes. She let herself fall on her bed and let much needed sleep take her over.
Hikari awoke the next morning. She was glad this wasn't a dream. She felt at peace. She felt like she hadn't left at all. She changed into her casual clothes and went downstairs to have breakfast with her parents. They had the same old thing, eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee. She grabbed a bowl and ate cereal.
"So, what're you doing today, honey?" her dad asked.
"Oh, I'm going to see if I can find an apartment and a job."
"Okay, but don't think you'll find all of that in one day." her dad laughed.
She just small smiled and finished her cereal. Small chat circled around the table. Her mom and dad told her their days and she, too, told them what she found over in America. She finished only 1 year of college. She was about to enroll for another year until she heard about Riho. That, too, was going to be her mission. She was going to visit Riho and catch up with her.
She finished and was going to head out the door when her mother yelled at her,"Be careful!"
"There's been weird creatures being seen at night!" her dad yelled after his wife.
Hikari didn't want them to worry so she said to them,"I'll take a taxi or something. Don't worry."
A few things changed but this was the same Kagawa that she knew from her childhood. Her eyes searched for Riho. She couldn't find her. She sighs and goes to a newspaper stand to look in the job ads to see if any would strike her interest. Well, today wasn't her lucky day. She couldn't find any that she could do without any special requirements.
"Well, how about an apartment?"
She looked and didn't find one to fit her range right now. "Maybe I should wait to find a job before I find an apartment.
She put the newspaper down and walked around town instead. She thought about what her dad said: creatures at night. What could those be?
"Maybe the police ought to know what they are."
In the evening, she went to the police station and asked one of the officers about the mysterious crimes that had been happening around here. He told her to go talk to the NOS. It was a special agency just for these kinds of cases. She found NOS-Angency office and asked the same question. They didn't give her the information she needed. She was going to leave until she found a door. Private Shido Tatsuhiko, it read.
"Hm, I wonder who this is."
She knocked on the office door and went in. There at a desk she saw a man laying back in a chair with a hat over his face. She closed the door behind her and the noise must have woke him up because he then took the hat off his face and sat up. Hikari observed him. He had long purple hair and green emerald eyes.
"Can I help you?" he asked.
She found herself hypnotized by his beauty. She mentally shook herself and introduced herself.
"Hi. I'm Hikari Nakamura."
He looked at her. She had long wavy dark brown hair and eyes to match. Yet there was something about her that made her look so angelic. Maybe the aura around her was the cause. "So, you're Hikari."
She blushed and wanted to know how he knew about her.
"How do you-?"
Before she could finish she heard a familiar voice call her name. She turned toward what looked like a kitchen on the opposite side of the room and she saw Riho. The girls gasped in surprise.
"Riho!"
"Hikari!"
She and Riho hugged and chattered. She heard the auburn haired girl tell her of the creature that attacked her and her parents. She wondered if those were the creatures that her father warned her about. "I'm so sorry about what happened to you, Riho. I wish I was there for you." Hikari said to her, feeling all the more guilty than she already had been.
"That's okay. Mr. Shido helped me by letting me be his secretary." She said with a smile. Riho was always like that. Hikari was about to shed a tear. 'Oh Riho..' She turned and then asked Shido if she could his day secretary since Riho had to go to school.
"Sure. I guess you can." he shrugged. She was accepted but didn't know about Shido and his vampire looks, even though Hiakri would be deep in thought. There was something suspicious about him that she couldn't put her finger on it. Something strange stirred inside her. What was it with this man?
