Chapter 3: A Turn For the Worse

Author's Note: Yeah, I haven't updated this story since 2006. I went to college, was trying to delete the account on the fact that I was writing a book, but my contract says I can write fanfiction again. So that means I had to revamp a lot of the songs and I'm possibly going through the chapters to edit them…as soon as I get from work and work an hour on my book and decompress from working at a call center…go figure…

Vicki put her head in her hand as she waited for calculus to be over. Math was her worst subject, and she often had to ask Scott for help…which ended with her getting embarrassed over something she did with her powers. When the bell rang she sprang up quickly. "I know everybody's happy about the dance, " started Mrs. Stien, "but don't forget chapter 17. I expect the full review on Monday."
The class groaned as they left. Vicki didn't get 2 feet when she felt the wind blur past her. Pietro was trying to get a rise out of here. Unfortunately, something sharp was stuck in her neck and she screamed in pain, dropping her books. Bobby came to her aid with Jubilee in tow. "What's wrong?" asked Jubilee

"I think Pietro stuck me." Said Vicki

She clutched her painful side, and pulled her hand away to reveal a small drop of blood forming on her shirt. She felt her body being energized, like she was on steroids, which gave her an uneasy feeling. She shook her head, seeing doubles of both Jubilee and Bobby. "Vicki?" asked Bobby

She felt herself getting lightheaded and leaned on Bobby for support. She shoo her head again, and regained her strength. "Do you want to go home?" asked Jubilee

"I'm ok." Answered Vicki, "Though I don't know why Pietro would stick me."
"Who knows with the Brotherhood." Said Bobby

Pietro looked at the scene with the empty syringe in his hand. He felt sick, and he didn't know why. He was just following Magneto's orders…

Pietro looked at his father with folded arms. He was mixing something together and placed it in a syringe. "This is nuts." Said Pietro, "Why are we even doing this?"

"It's a gift." Answered Magneto, "Her mutation made a turn I didn't expect. Just deliver this at the right moment."
Pietro picked up the syringe from his father's hand. He got an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. Magneto put a hand on his son's shoulder. "Don't fail in this task." He said

Pietro pulled away from him and tucked the syringe away. "Why are you obsessing over this girl?" he asked, "You've been wanting me to keep an eye on her ever since she stayed over at Xavier's. She hasn't done anything unusual in the six months she's been there."

"Everything will be revealed in time. Just make sure she takes this."

Bobby was too upset to even eat his lunch. His girlfriend Zelda(1) had broken up with him. She publically embarrassed him over the lack of sex life and the fact that he was a mutant. Tabitha and the other New Mutants came to his aid, including Vicki to his surprise. In fact, she was the most vocal, making sure everybody knew what kind of loose whore Zelda was. Then out of nowhere she asks Bobby to go the Sadie Hawkins dace with her and he just readily accepted. Now they were sitting at the lunch table with the other X-Men in silence. "Ok," said Kitty, "this is too awkward."

"I can't believe we just said we were going together." Moaned Vicki

"What are you so worried about?" asked Bobby, "You didn't just get emasculated by your own ex-girlfriend."
"I'm surprised you even know what that word means."
"I don't see vot's the big deal." Said Kurt

"Yeah," started Rogue, "you guys just started getting along. I mean, Bobby, you were behaving during Vicki's birthday."

Vicki gripped her abdomen in pain as she dropped her fork. Bobby rubbed her back as she put her head down on the table. "I hate these cramps." She groaned

"I still think you should tell the Professor what happened." Said Jubilee

"After school. I still have choir practice."

"What happened?" asked Rogue

"Pietro stuck her with something and ran off." Answered Bobby

"He stuck her?!" exclaimed Kurt, "You need to tell ze Professor!"
"I will!" snapped Vicki, "Geez, get off my back! I've got cramps, the smell of fried food is nauseating to me and I feel like I have to pee every five minutes!"
"Um…Vicki, darlin'" asked Rogue, "Ah don't think that's whatever Pietro stuck ya with."

"Zen vot is it?" asked Kurt

"I think you boys need to leave…" started Amara

Wanda quirked a brow as she picked up a syringe off the floor in Pietro's room. She was trying to find what happened to her mp3 player when she stepped on it. She never thought that her brother was doing any drugs, but she wasn't so sure now. "W-Wanda?" asked a voice

She turned to look at her brother's shocked face. She had the syringe in her hand and he got an uneasy feeling. "Pietro…" she started

"I-It's not what you think." He said, taking the syringe away

"A-are you…"
"No, I'm not. I just had to do something for our father and I forgot to throw this thing away."
"What were you doing?"

Pietro sighed and looked away from her. She felt uneasy herself and shut Pietro's door. "Tell me." She said

"Wanda-" started Pietro

"No! Tell me now!"
The house began to shake and Pietro grabbed his sister's shoulders. "OK!" he snapped, "Father wanted me to stick some stuff into this X-Geek and that's what I did."
"Why?" asked Wanda

"I don't know. When has he ever told me what his plans are?"

"What about the X-Men you stuck?"

"Huh? Oh, she…she's fine I guess. She looks like she had cramps and she went to her classes, but nothing major."

Wanda sniffed the air. "Do you smell that?" she asked

The house rumbled and they ran down the hall and looked down the stairs. Men in hats, t-shirts, and military boots with pants began attacking them.

Beast shined some light in Vicki's eyes as she was being examined. Professor Xavier was not happy hearing that she was stuck with something and didn't come back to the mansion right away. Vicki had tuned the Professor out after hearing it from Scott. "There aren't any changes." Said Beast, "Are you sure it was Pietro?"
"I'm sure Pietro ran by me, but I'm sure I felt something stick me." Answered Vicki

"And you're sure it was Pietro that stuck you?"
"I'm not so sure now. "
"Still, I'd like to run some more tests. To think you just turned 16 three weeks ago and you've just started your menstrual cycle. I want to make sure it doesn't have anything to do with your mutation."

"Ick, you're not going to look…down there…are you?"
"I can just take a blood sample."
"You know, I could've sworn I got the talk about that every girl's body is different."
"Your body's development has almost screeched to a halt. I just want to make sure we're on the safe side. "

Vicki looked down at her chest. Beast was right, most girls her age had size C or D bras, Vicki was still at a size B…which was the same when she was in middle school. It also didn't help that she was teased by other girls, especially in the locker room, that she had the body of a boy. She winced as Beast wrapped a rubber tube to have her vein show. When he stuck in a syringe, she sucked in a breath. Beast put the syringe and bandaged her arm in the normal way. "You should probably take some Tylenol for the cramps, and lie down for a while." Said Beast

Kitty phased through the wall and had a horrid look on her face. She opened the medical bay doors to let in the beaten and bloody bodies of the Brotherhood.

"Oh my God!" exclaimed Beast

Vicki jumped up from the stretcher to watch as Toad was laid down. Fred didn't look much better but he could take the hits. What mad her feel bad was the fact that Pietro was lying on another stretcher, his legs completely smashed. Lance had an arm that looked like it was pulled out of its socket and bent the wrong way. Wanda had it the worst, eyes both beaten into, body beaten, and clothes ripped the shreds. Jean and Scott were followed by Rogue and Kurt. They couldn't believe what they just saw, something took down the Brotherhood, and it wasn't just a regular battle like they have with them all the time. "What happened to them?" asked Kitty

"We…" started Fred, "We got beat up by these guys in white shirts, calling us all mean stuff."

The Professor wheeled in, with everybody getting out of his way. His face remained the same as it was in any emergency situation. "Fred," he started, "tell me more about the people that attacked you."

Beast put a hand on Vicki's shoulder. "You should go upstairs with the others." He said, "We'll handle everything down here. If you see the others, just tell them to stay upstairs."

Vicki nodded her head as she left the medical bay. Going up the elevator, she began thinking about the Brotherhood's injuries. If they were attacked by the same people she began to think about, then the X-Men should be worried. When the elevator doors opened, the New Mutants were waiting for her with anxious faces. "Are they going to be ok?" asked Amara

"I don't know." Answered Vicki , "Though Beast said we're supposed to stay out of the medical bay."

1-Zelda is the name of Bobby Drake's first girlfriend in the comics...God, I am way too geeky...
