Rusty crouched down, staring wide eyed at the bluish gray she-cat. His legs were shaking underneath him. "I-I'm sorry, I just wanted to taste mouse." he apologized; the she-cat's eyes were harsh and cold. Something was clearly bothering her.
But Bluestar sighed. "Of course, a kittypet like you would be curious." She meowed, sitting down in place.
Rusty stared up at her, he searched for a reason behind the magic change of tone with the she-cat. But nothing showed from her eyes. "I-I guess I'd better leave." He meowed.
Graypaw nodded, his amber eyes turned back to the flame colored tom. Something about those eyes, reminded Rusty of those eyes in his dream. As rusty slowly turned around to begin heading back towards his house, a yowl halted him in his tracks.
"Hold on a moment kitten, you are not done here yet." It was the golden tabby, whose eyes were trailing him the entire few pawsteps he took.
Rusty slowly turned around; his limbs trembling underneath him, and headed back to the other three cats. The gray she-cat watching his every step, while the tom whispered in her ear. "Not now, I will tell you later when we're back at camp." Bluestar meowed, the gray she-cat's eyes turned to him for a brief moment.
The golden tabby tom frowned, but said nothing.
Graypaw sighed. "Lionheart, he's only a twoleg pet. He meant no harm and didn't know any better." The solid gray tom tried to reason.
"Not the only reason Graypaw, and that kittypet is a little suspicious since your last… encounter." The golden tabby meowed.
Lionheart turned his head to Bluestar, the thick mane like fur around his neck pressing into his neck. The she-cat waited till Rusty was right beside the other kitten. "Well, I must admit you are strangely skinny and tough for a kittypet." She meowed.
Lionheart nodded, his eyes narrowed. "Very much so, are you familiar with a big black and white tom?"
Rusty chuckled. "Perhaps, you might even see a nick in his ear next time." He answered.
Lionheart raised himself. "Are you, or are you not a kittypet?" he asked.
Rusty felt another cat's gaze watching him, and he turned to see smudge balancing himself on his stone wall. Rusty was reminded where he needs to be. "Yes, I guess according to Graypaw; I am." He answered.
Graypaw nodded, and Lionheart seemed to gaze behind rusty over towards Smudge. Who yelped and jumped back into his garden. "A friend of yours?"
Rusty turned back to him, shuffling uncomfortably. "Yes, his name's smudge." Rusty answered.
Lionheart turned his head to whisper into Bluestar's ear. She waved his face away. "So, kittypet, what is your name?" she asked.
Rusty sat down, avoiding her gaze. "Rusty, ma'am." He answered.
Bluestar looked him over, but said nothing. "Well now, Rusty, your curiosity may be beneficial if you choose to accept an invitation to join." The she-cat meowed.
Lionheart's eyes widened in surprise. And Graypaw's eyes went wider. Rusty gazed up at her. "But, I'm just a measly kittypet." He told her.
Bluestar looked him over. "While you did trespass, you happened to prove yourself against a warrior in training that is no easy feat. And your curiosity shows that you have an heart yearning for beyond your twoleg walls. So I ask you, would you like to join us."
Lionheart sat there, silent thinking it over. "Now Rusty, Bluestar does not make this offer lightly. It's a yes or no question."
"You can't choose both sides either, one can't have a paw in two worlds." Bluestar finished.
Rusty sat there, thinking. "May I have a chance to sleep in on this?" he asked.
Bluestar looked at Lionheart. "Yes, Lionheart will await you here tomorrow at sun high; if you do not appear, you will not be accepted if you do." she meowed.
Rusty nodded, and the gray she-cat dismissed him with her tail. And he took off back towards his den.
Yellowfang lowered her head, the two lifeless bodies down at her paws. "N-no." she stammered.
Brokenstar entered the medicine cat den, and gave a fake horrorfied gasp. "Y-you killed those kits!" he yowled.
Yellowfang raised her head. "No-wait. I didn't-,"
Brokenstar arched his back, hissing. "You betrayed your clan, get out and you may live!"
Yellowfang felt tears forming in her eyes. her own son, banishing her. "Brokenstar-,"
"LEAVE." He yowled.
The other cats there began to yowl the same thing, and Yellowfang bolted from the den and out of the camp.
