With Every Bit Of Sunshine, There Will Be A Bit Of Rain
Chapter Three- The Heart Wants What It Wants
Ginny woke the next morning with a banging headache. She turned over and saw Harry sleeping next to her. She remembered begging him to stay because she did not want to be alone and it did not have to mean anything. She smiled at the fact he actually stayed. She did sleep better with him being there. He stirred as she sat up.
'Gin?' he said, alarmed and sleepy, reaching out for her.
'Yeah, I am here' she replied, allowing him to take her hand. She had no idea where they were going but she wasn't going to question it. She was just happy he was back.
'Good' he said, softly, opening his eyes and took his glasses from her night stand and put them on.
'Bad dream?' she questioned, raising an eyebrow. He nodded, focusing on their interlocked hands.
'Do you want to talk about?' she asked, giving him a small smile.
'You didn't manage to move out of the way of Bellatrix's curse' he replied. She knew what he meant. She nodded, looking down and bit her lip softly, trying to prevent herself from being teary.
'I dream you didn't wake up at all. Why didn't you tell me that you were going to pretend to be dead?' She questioned, quietly.
'That's just it, Ginny. I didn't plan to pretend to be dead. I actually thought I was...' But Harry's voice trailed off.
'What do you mean?' She asked, quickly.
'I thought I was going to die. Like not come back at all' He sighed, running his hands through his messy, unkempt hair. She narrowed her eyes and let go of his hand, jumping up.
'What? You better start explaining now' She told him, crossing her arms. He nodded and began to explain about Horcruxes, about his mission, about him and about the diary of Tom Riddle.
'So wait, what possessed me when I was 11 was the same thing that was living in you for 16 years?' She questioned, when he finished. She nodded before rushing to the toilet, throwing up. He quickly followed her to see she was okay.
'I swear that was the hangover' Ginny told him, as she flushed the toilet.
'I'd understand if it wasn't' Harry replied. She looked up at him, giving him a hard, blazing look, that look she gave when she was about to cry and wanted to stop herself. She stood up, almost ran at him and wrapped her arms around him. He was taken aback by this but returned the hug.
'This changes nothing. Nothing at all' She said, softly in his ear.
'It changes everything. I mean…' But he couldn't finish his sentence. She pulled away, her arms still around, looking at him intensely.
'It doesn't. You have had this evil thing inside of you for most of your life but it hasn't changed you. Yes, it has affected you but it has not stopped you caring, being compassionate, being kind, loving, everything he isn't. You are still the person I lo-'she stopped herself before she complicated things more by saying them three words 'Let's just be thankful I have just been sick and we both have morning breath or things would of be a lot more complicated by now'
She went to walk past him to go back to her room but Harry stopped her. He didn't plan it, like most of the times he had in the past and despite what she just said, he kissed her. She gasped but responded. Nine months of pain, missing, love and longing was poured into that kiss. Ginny pulled away, gasping.
'I am sorry. That was self-'but she stopped him in his tracks by kissing him again.
Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione was returning from a morning walk she had suggested. They had officially starting going out after she slept in his arms all night because she was having nightmares about her torture at Malfoy Manor. They walked back into The Burrow, hand in hand. Mrs Weasley beamed at them as they walked in.
'What a beautiful morning it is' Mrs Weasley mused as she started preparations for breakfast but there was sadness behind her voice, she was still putting on a show for her children.
'Yes it is, isn't it, Mrs Weasley' Hermione replied, smiling at her.
'Ron, tell your sister Luna and Neville are here' Mrs Weasley suddenly told him. He went to the bottom of the stairs and shouted up.
'Gin, Neville and Luna are here!'
Ginny pulled away from Harry on hearing her brother's words. They looked at each other for a moment, both a little red in the face.
'I'll give you a minute. We'll talk later' he told her, giving her a kiss on the cheek and walked out of the bathroom. She nodded and closed the bathroom door, exhaling loudly. She looked in the bathroom mirror, turned the tap on and splashed herself with cold water. She tried to return her breathing to normal.
After freshing up, Harry went downstairs and joined his best friends. Hermione gave him a small smile as he saw down next to them.
'Please tell me you haven't been snogging my sister!' Ron said, under his breath.
'Please tell me you haven't been snogging the girl who is practically my sister' Harry replied, raising an eyebrow. Hermione giggled.
'It is not the same and you know it but I'll let you off. Just don't mess her about and I won't have to kick your arse, got it?' Ron proclaimed.
'You got it' Harry replied, his eyes on Ginny as she walked down the stairs and joined her best friends in the kitchen.
'Can we talk outside, Gin?' Neville asked. His concern worried Ginny and she followed him outside.
'What is wrong, Neville?' Ginny said to him. He gave her a letter. She sighed and read.
Hi Neville,
I wish I was writing to you in better circumstances but I am worried about my sister so is Harry and Hermione.
I understand last year was hard for you all and as Ginny's brother, I am concerned over her current behaviour and I think we both know it is not just down to Fred's death. She won't tell us anything. What exactly happened, mate, for her to act like this? I have not seen her act like this. She wasn't even this bad after her first year and the chamber of secrets. I don't want to lose another sibling, I can't. Please help us. We need to know what is happening to her.
Also, you are welcome at ours anytime. I just want my sister back.
Thank you and hope to see you soon,
Ron
'I didn't reply obviously. It is down to you' Neville told her, giving her a small smile.
'They haven't even asked me that is the point. They want me to tell them everything when they keep secrets from me. They didn't even ask me!' she exclaimed, sighing, running her hands through her hair.
'Breathe, Ginny, don't do anything you will regret' Neville warned her, reaching out but she moved out of the way. She went storming back into the house.
'What is this, Ron?' she demanded, walking up to him. He stood up, sighing.
'Gin, please, we just wanted to know what is going with you' he replied, holding his hands out.
'You didn't even ask me. You went straight to my best friend who by the way went through all the same shit as me so as well as making me going through it again, you are fucking making him too!' She exclaimed, nearly at her boiling point.
'Language, Ginevra!' Mrs Weasley shouted from the kitchen.
'Sorry Mum. Well, why did you go to Neville and go behind my back when you could of just asked me?' She demanded, raising an eyebrow.
'Ginny, please, you got to under-'Harry started to say but she cut across him.
'Urgh, you think because we kissed once, we are back together? Correction. No' But she instantly regretted saying that. She looked down, fighting back tears.
'I am your brother. I want to be here for you' Ron tried to tell her.
'Been there for me? Where were you when I was being tortured for defending your sorry arses? Where were you when I was locked in the chamber of secrets for 3 days without food and water because I tried to stop Bellatrix from doing the same to Neville that she did to his parents? I know what, you say you understand that last year was hard but you have no idea. No idea whatsoever' Ginny proclaimed, sighed and before she could get a reply, she stormed upstairs. Harry went to go after her but Hermione stopped him.
'Leave her. Let her cool off. She is angry and with every reason' she told him, sighing.
'Did you know about the chamber, Mum?' Ron asked, still in shock from his sister's words.
'Yeah. It wasn't easy, Ron. That is why she didn't go back to school after Easter. She was having panic attacks left right and centre. She couldn't sleep or eat. She was a mess. I had never seen her like that' Mrs Weasley replied, sighing.
'Post-traumatic stress disorder' Hermione said, softly.
'What?' Ron asked, turning to her.
'It is what the muggles call this. When someone goes through a traumatic event and they struggle to cope after it' she replied, sighing.
'What does it mean?' Harry asked, worried for Ginny.
'It means she needs us. All of us. It is going to be hard. Certain things will set her off. We need to make sure she gets better' Hermione replied.
