"Damn it…" Remus said as he lied down on his bed.
He felt his heart tighten a little as he stared at the ceiling. He had lost both of his best friends because of something completely stupid. And the worst was that Sirius looked like he couldn't care less about him. Remus closed his eyes tight shut as he tried to push away what Sirius had been telling to James, wishing he didn't care. But he never cared as much.
After a long moment listening to the loud laughter coming from downstairs, he sighed and went to take a shower, hoping to wash the regrets away. Meanwhile, Sirius entered the dorms. He smirked at the sound of the water running, and went to knock at the bathroom's door.
"Moons?" He called.
Remus froze in the shower.
"Moony, can I come it?"
"Certainly not!" Remus said grumpily.
"Listen, I really need to go to the bathroom." Sirius lied.
Remus sighed and grabbed the towel as he stepped out of the shower. He wrapped it around his waist and opened the door.
"Your timing is spectacular." He told Sirius sarcastically as he walked out.
"So is your ass." Sirius muttered under his breath as he watched Remus walk towards the drawers, smirking. "Why didn't you come up here all alone? We had quite a good laugh you know, and I think I made the biggest punchline of all time." He laughed at the memory.
"To hear you and James say those… insanities? No thanks." Remus scoffed. "Besides, I didn't think you guys had actually acknowledged my presence, and neither Lily's."
"Trust me, we were very aware of her presence after you left." He snickered.
"Sirius, look." Remus sighed as he turned around to face him. "Whatever James told you, my relationship with Lily is entirely platonic. Nothing more."
"That's not what we saw." He shrugged. "Besides, you've got the right to snog whoever you want. I don't really care." He said, walking over to his bed before throwing himself on it and closing his eyes.
"I didn't snog anyone!" Remus said on his way towards Sirius' bed, when he froze. "Weren't you supposed to use the bathroom?" He asked, crossing his arms.
"Not anymore, but if you keep walking around half naked I'm afraid I'll have to use it very soon." He said, his eyes still shut.
"Stop making fun of me." Remus muttered. Sirius smiled, keeping what he thought for himself. "Anyway, Prongs misinterpreted the situation. Lily and I were just messing around, there's absolutely nothing between us. And I don't even understand why you guys won't believe us in the first place. Well I understand that Prongs must be suspicious since he had a thing for Lily, but why don't you just get over it, Padfoot? It's not like you care anyway." Remus said, his voice quiet as he rambled absently through his trunk.
"I do care, Moons."
"You said you didn't, what, a minute ago?" Remus scoffed as he put on a boxer and some slacks, making sure to keep his towel wrapped around him.
"Just leave me alone." Sirius said sulkily, rolling to his side.
Remus looked up at him and swallowed. He stood up and went to sit at the end of Sirius' bed. Shirtless.
"Why?" He asked softly.
"Don't try and fool me, Rem. I see the way you look at her."
Remus laughed.
"Yeah, funny, isn't it? Haha." Sirius sighed dramatically. "You guys fit together. Bookworms, goody-goodies, pretty…"
"You think I'm pretty?" Remus asked, tilting his head to the side.
Sirius looked everywhere but at Remus.
