ELLIOT

Elliot had left Luna's apartment his body aching from the day's events. "Come on Flipper." He said as he opened the door, his loyal companion running in and making herself comfortable on the couch. He sat down, looking up at the ceiling, his breathing unsteady. I don't recall what happened…any of it. What has Mr. Robot been up to? I could really use some Morphine right now.

He sighed, looking over at his computer. I could look into who Luna really is, it will keep my mind occupied. He thought as he slowly got up, making himself as comfortable as possible at his desk. All I know is her first name….He thought as he typed in nearby animal hospitals. He clicked on a few, but nothing. "Ah!" He exclaimed as he had clicked on the fourth one. Luna Stevens….graduated from Washington State University, from Seattle, hobbies include hiking, rock climbing, baking, roller derby, all around bad ass.

He opened up Facebook, typing in her name, scrolling through a few until her recognized her picture. He clicked through her photos, her profile had been private, but he had easily surpassed that. She has a younger sister, looks like she graduated not too long ago. Looks like the perfect family. He looked at the picture perfect moments, from birthday parties to family vacations. Looks like she comes from money….is she single? Yes. His heart beat slowed down and he continued on looking through other forms of social media.

"Wow." He mumbled as he looked through pictures of her in roller derby. She really could kick my ass if she wanted to. "What do you think you're doing?" Mr. Robot asked him from the corner of the room. "We do not have time for this Elliot, we need to execute our plan." He slammed his fists on Elliot's desk, causing him to jump. "I-I don't know what you're talking about."

Mr. Robot let out a low growl, "Get in the fucking game Elliot! We're taking down Whiterose!" Oh thank God, we actually agreed on something. He caught his breath, "What happened to me?"

The door flew open and Darlene came in, she looked frantic. "Elliot? What happened to you?" He stood there, unsure of what to say. "You went to urgent care? That's surprising….anyway, is it okay if I crash here tonight?" She threw her backpack on the couch and rummaged through the fridge. "Shit, you literally have nothing to eat….earth to Elliot?" She waved her hand in front of his face.

"I need to get some sleep." He said kicking off his black chucks and laying on his bed. "God, you are weird." She said, eating a piece of bread. He looked up at the ceiling as she rambled on, I want to know more about Luna. Maybe tomorrow? I can't do much with Darlene around or she will question my every move. He sighed, turning onto his side knowing that tonight would probably be a sleepless night.

LUNA

Luna woke up the next morning, quickly made breakfast and got dressed for work. She walked out and as she locked her door, she looked up, noticing a girl leaving Elliot's place. Of course he has a girlfriend. She gave the girl a small smile as her heart dropped. "What are you looking at?" She asked, disgusted. Wow, he really knows how to pick 'em. She thought, taking a bite out of an apple.

She made it to work and had her first surgery day. She was working at a very busy general practice. She did a spay, a neuter (on a mastiff) and a dental with multiple extractions. I survived. She fell back in her chair and pulled out a salad.

She was getting ready for her first appointment when an emergency came rushing in. The dog had fainted while being groomed and was breathing shallowly, she did some diagnostics and the dog had cancer that had spread throughout the body. She had told the family and that the dog's best option would be to humanely euthanize. It was a heartbreaking process.

She stood at the door of her next appointment and took a deep breath, "You've got this Luna. This is what you signed up for." She walked in and was surprised to see Elliot and Flipper, "Hey!" She smiled. "Sorry about the wait, I was dealing with a critical patient." She said as she placed Flipper on an exam table. "Is everything ok?" Elliot asked, which caught her off guard. Tears welled up on the brim of her eyes and she nodded. "W-what brings you two in today?" She quickly wiped a few drops away.

He ran a hand through his hair as he looked at the ground, "Just a general checkup. Its' been a while and I figured she'd like to see her favorite person." There was some pink to his cheeks. He's blushing! Luna thought as she began her exam. "Everything looks great, I'd recommend bloodwork sometime next year since she's getting older…looks like she's up to date on her vaccines. You guys are good to go, unless you need anything else?" He shook his head. "How did you know I worked here?" She asked leaning against the counter. "Y-you told me." He's lying, I didn't tell him that. "How are you feeling?" "Fine, thanks to you." He looked up at her. "That's what I'm best at." She said, winking and opening the door.

"Wait!" He said, Luna stopped, turning around. "I was wondering….do you want to have dinner at my place tonight? A thank you for yesterday." "What would your girlfriend think?" Way to sound jealous. He looked at her, dumbfounded. "That brunette that was leaving your place early this morning?" She studied his face, he was trying to recall. Is he some fuckboy? Great, I sure know how to pick them. "Darlene? That's my sister." Luna could feel her face turning bright red, "D-dinner sounds good. Here, let me give you my phone number." She said as she wrote it down on a sticky note. "Just give me a time, and I'll be there." "Sounds good."

Butterflies fluttered like mad in Luna's stomach, she felt like she was on cloud nine, even after the horrible event that had occurred. "Who was that?" The receptionist asked. "My neighbor." "He is cute!" Luna nodded in agreement, excited for tonight.

She walked out of work at a decent time and her phone buzzed:

"7:30?" An unknown number asked as a huge smile spread across her face.

"Sounds good, I'll see you then (:"

She hit send, "Ugh, I should have put that smiley face."

She got home and whipped up some chocolate chip cookies. She showered and put a nice pair of black skinny jeans on as well as a black top that broke into lace on part of the sleeve. She looked in the mirror, pulling her long, black hair into a messy bun and putting some mascara and lipstick on. She brushed her bangs to the side so you could see her dark blue eyes. "Tonight will be great." She said as she put some earrings on. She slipped on some ankle boots and grabbed the cookies, making perfect time.

She knocked on Elliot's door, her heart racing. It sounded like he was talking to someone, but quickly stopped once he heard her. "Hey." He opened the door and she entered. "Hello, I brought my famous cookies!" She smiled at him as he looked at her. He looked stunned, "Are you ok, Elliot?" She asked, setting the dessert on the counter. "Yeah. You look beautiful." He said, causing her to blush. "Thanks!" She smiled, breathing in, the air smelt burnt.

"The dinner I prepared somehow combusted, but don't worry, I'm not making you eat it. I panicked and grabbed burgers and fries from a place down the street. Sorry." He said looking quite disappointed. "Are you kidding, that's one of my favorite meals!" She said causing him to smile. "I'm starving, let's get down to it. And you even got shakes? You know the way to a woman's heart, Elliot." She said as she sat down.

"Is it okay if I put some music on? Just for some background noise?" "Sure." She clicked on Pandora and it began playing the Louis Armstrong station. "Is this ok?" "Yeah." He said, eating a fry.

"Are you close to your sister?" Luna asked, taking a large bite out of her burger. "I suppose. Growing up, especially. How about you? I mean, do you have any siblings?" He seemed uncomfortable, but Luna could see that he was trying to make an effort. "Yes. Her name is Stella, she just graduated high school and is traveling for a while. Just going to try and figure out what she wants to do. We're totally different. She's a free spirit and I'm more of a prude, I guess you could say." "Some people have things figured out from birth and others need more time to explore. That doesn't make you a prude." He said matter of fact, causing a large smile to spread across Luna's face. "True, I like that. Which kind are you?"

"A little bit of both." He stated. "Why?" "I felt like I did a lot of wandering, but always wanted to do something with computers." Luna nodded as she took a sip of her shake. "Was someone in your family into computers?" She looked at Elliot as his eyes darted back and forth. It looked like he was panicking, "You don't have to talk about it. Sorry, I was only wondering. I had an Aunt who had a lot of animals and was a vet and growing up I wanted so badly to be like her. She was an amazing person."

Luna ran a fry through the ketchup, as if drawing on the plate. "She passed away when I was fifteen. She was killed by a drunk driver." Her heart felt heavy and she hesitantly looked up at Elliot, who was actually looking at her and empathetically at that. "I'm sorry." He whispered. She smiled, "You know, it'd be great if the people you loved died at the same time as you…it'd make things that much simpler…as weird as that sounds." Shit, I hope he doesn't think I'm some weirdo. I've never told anyone that.

"That makes perfect sense to me." He said quietly, staring off into the distance. "My dad. He was the one…" He was coming back to reality as he and Luna locked eyes. She nodded her head. She wanted to place her hand on his, but when touched, it seemed distressing to him so she chose not to.

They had moved to the couch, eating cookies and drinking milk. "What happened today? You seemed disgruntled when you came in." "I had to put down my first patient. It was a sweet, older golden retriever…I hadn't realized it was going to be so hard." He softly placed his hand on Luna's knee, "We sure know how to keep up happy conversation, huh?" She felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest. "I think it's good to have someone to talk about dark things with, but we should talk about more positive things every once in a while." He smiled warmly at Luna.

"Wanna watch a movie?" He asked. "Sure." She said, tugging at her sleeves.

They started watching Back to the Future (Luna learned it was one of his favorites). It was getting late and she was feeling tired, but wasn't ready for the night to end. Her lids grew heavy with sleep as she tried fighting it, but of course lost the battle.

She woke up, her head resting on Elliot's shoulder, with his arm wrapped around her. What time is it? She wondered, grabbing her phone. Four in the morning, ugh I have to wake up for work soon. She thought burying her face in Elliot's chest. She breathed in deeply, he smelt of musk, accented with an earthy tone. God, I am such a creep. She thought listening to the steady beat of his heart.

She looked at his face, studying the features. He had a strong jawline, a cute nose as well as nice lips. She liked how he styled his hair and how thick it was. His eyes began to slowly open and she panicked, "Hi!" She squeaked. "Hey." He said sleepily, "I haven't been able to sleep like that in….I don't know how long." She sat up and stretched, "I hate to disappoint you, but it's four in the morning." He shrugged his shoulders, studying her face. He was looking at her as if it was the first time he had seen her.

What if my mascara smeared? Is that why he's looking at me that way? She thought as he palms grew sweaty. He moved in, placing his lips to Luna's. It wasn't the smoothest kiss, but it made a quick transition. He lay over her as she ran her hands through his hair, he nibbled on her neck, causing her to giggle. He stopped, looking at her, "Sorry, the stiches were tickling…." His lips collided with hers again as their tongues danced.

She sat up, removing her shirt, straddling him and grinding into his pelvis. A small moan left his lips, causing her to smile and unzip his hoodie. I want him so bad. She thought, a fire burning in the pit of her stomach as she ran her hands over his bare chest.

Suddenly the door flew up, "Fuck, sorry!" It was Darlene. Luna grabbed her shirt and threw it on. "Darlene, how many times do I have to tell you to knock?" Elliot said, flustered as he slid his shirt over his head. "You're with her? Out of all people?" She looked over at Luna disapprovingly. "I better get going. Bye." She said pushing past Darlene.

"Luna, wait! Dammit, Darlene!" Elliot complained as Luna rushed to her apartment. She shut the door and flopped face first into her bed, letting out a giddy scream. She rolled on her back, hugging a pillow, full of adrenaline. Don't make a big deal out of it, it could mean nothing more than a make out session to him….but a good one at that.

She could hear a commotion next door, "God dammit Elliot, fuck you!" The door slammed and Luna peeked her head out. Elliot walked out, acting as if nothing had happened. "Elliot!" She yelled, but he didn't stop. "Hey!" She stepped out and he turned around. It didn't look like Elliot….even though it was, as odd as that sounds, "What's going on?" She asked. "You!" He came towards her, aggressively pointing, causing her to jump back. "You're getting in the way of our plan!" "Wha-" "Don't play dumb, sweetheart. Stay away from Elliot, you got it?" All Luna could do was nod her head as he left.

What the hell just happened? Why was he speaking about himself in third person? That didn't even sound like Elliot! What a fucking mess.
