Chapter 2:

And so it Begins…

'defeat fate huh..'

Unable to get some sleep, Kallen opened her eyes and begun to think about her previous conversation with CC.

"Its easy telling the witch that I will defeat fate but…" She clenched her hands and sigh loudly. "How the hell am I gonna do it! Its easier to say it than actually doing it…" Kallen walked towards her room's window looking up at the sky.

"Lelouch can do this thing much better than I can…" She raised her hands. "How am I gonna save you?" She sadly asked.

She closed the window's curtain and let herself fall to sleep even if it takes a lot of time to shut her mind and succumb to sleep.

The next day, Kallen woke up due to the soft knocking.

"Mistress Kallen.. are you here?" a soft voice asked.

Kallen opened the door to see her mother. Her mother bowed down to her.

"I'm sorry for waking you up mistress… I just want to tell you that we are back." Kallen's mother said in a whisper.

Kallen remembered how she treated her mother, how her mother suffered for their sake. She then reached for her mother's shoulder. "Mom…"

Kallen's voice didn't reached her mother as she continue to speak softly. "Mistress we heard what happened with Nao.. I mean with Sir Naoto… I… I just want to..-"

Kallen interrupted her mother by hugging her tightly. "You don't have to do this mom… Cry for your loss.. our loss… I'm sorry for treating you like a maid… I can't … I just can't bear to see you bowing to that bitch father married. Even dragging you to mainland just to witness their marriage. Cry mom… Its okay.."

"Mistres-"

Kallen released her mother and looked at her eyes. "Just call me Kallen like how you used to Mom…"

"K-Kallen.."

Her mother suddenly crumbled as she cried in her daughter's arms. Kallen hugged her again. "Just bear this torture a little longer mom… I promise, I'll save you from here"

"As long as I'm with you… I will be okay Kallen… I already lose Naoto, I can't take it if I will lose you too…"

"I will never leave you mother… I promise…"

Their moment was interrupted by a chuckle.

"The bastard and her mother whore… what a sight" Her stepmom said, standing beside her father.

"Kallen.." Her father said.

"Dad… welcome back.." she said softly. Not really looking at the man.

"I'm sorry.." her father said.

"What the hell?! What are you sorry for! Lets go hun.. let's go now.." her stepmom cling to her father who sighed softly.

"I understand Dad.. bye" Kallen said.

Giving one last look at her and her mother, her father and his new wife went to their room.

"He didn't like the situation as well my child…" Her mother said. "He married that woman for you as well…"

"What?" This is the first time she heard about this.

"You're father never wanted to marry that woman. But if he declined, they will not give you the britannian citizenship and then you will be treated as an eleven…"

Kallen stared at her mother. Not knowing what to say about it. "Father… do this for me …"

Her mother solemnly nodded. "We talked about this. He even cried so much you know, when we learned about Naoto's death…"

Kallen looked at her mother wide eyed. "All this time I hate both you and father… and now…" Kallen cried. "I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…"

This time, its her mother who held her tightly. "You'll be fine Kallen…We'll be here for you… I'll always be here with you" Kallen just nodded.

After sometime, Kallen had her alone time with her father. Just like with her mother, they both cried and apologized to each other.

After a month, Kallen officially joined the resistance group again. She became an active member of it just like the last time.

With her knowledge of piloting knightmare frame from the previous timeline, she easily became their ace pilot. Both her parents didn't know about this. She decided that there's no need for them to worry about her.

What changed is the way she treated her comrades. Still with the bitterness of their betrayal, she became a lone wolf of the group. Everyone respected the distance she wants, thinking that its her way of coping with their comrades death.

CC continued talking to her inside her mind. She's still gave vague comments here and there. They both decided that they will just act when the start of the rebellion takes place. Of course with CC still a prisoner of Clovis' experiment, Both of them knew that altering many things may jeopardize their objective.

Then, after some months, CC asked the question that Kallen was asking herself since the beginning.

"Kallen, have you learned about your geass?"

Kallen shake her head as she laid in her bedroom. "No… actually I tried activating it but to no effect…"

"I see"

"Do you… have any idea?"

"Yes… If I'm right, I will be dangerous… if you used it on a wrong person."

"So, my geass is not just a time travelling like machine?"

"No… geass is not that simple… Just like what I had said.. It is the power of Kings"

"But really what kind of power do I possessed?"

"We'll talk about that later Kallen… I promised I'll teach you how to activate it. There are just some geass that you can't activate easily. What's important now is your situation."

"I know CC… I already changed some things… My family.. the resistance group.. its not how its supposed to be.."

"I know and we have no idea of what kind of things this changes may caused"

"sorry.. I'm so careless… I let my emotion drove me.."

"It will not be you if you're not driven by your emotions… You are an emotion driven person Kallen… and you know that"

Kallen sighed knowing that the witch is right.

"So what now?" CC asked breaking the silence in her mind.

"school will start next month…"

"Oh I see… then are you going to take your sickly persona again?

"yes.. I had to…"

"Goodluck then… you will meet him again for the first time in this timeline you know.."

Kallen eyes widened as she realize what the witch is saying. She realized that she will undoubtedly meet Lelouch at Ashford.

"Yes…."

"Will you be okay?"

"I …. Think so… its just meeting Lelouch…"

"It's the person you love you know… The person who drive you to go back in time… just to save him.."

"I know CC… I will be okay..."

"If you say so… Oh by the way.. I'll see you next year.."

"Huh?"

"Just a year later, you will see me or have you forgotten that poisoned gas incident…"

Kallen thought of what CC said..

"then.. that capsule… its not…"

"That capsule is not a gas.. its just an immortal girl" CC sarcastically said.

"Then.. Lelouch acquired his geass that time?"

"Yes"

"Then will you give him a geass again?"

"well… "

Kallen lost in her own thought about all the things Lelouch done as Zero…

"CC… you have to give him a geass again…"

"Why? Don't you think that without the geass, the chances that zero requiem will never happen will be apparent?"

"Yes… I know but you see, without that geass.. Zero will never appear… There will be no rebellion.. the Britannia will never stop its power hungry strikes… The world needed Zero to appear…" Kallen smiled sadly.

"Well said black queen.."

"I'm not a queen"

"Yes you are… you are Lelouch queen.. ."

Kallen just remained silent. CC laughed at her loss for words.

"Ill contact you again… goodluck"

Kallen closed her eyes. She had to have an iron grip with her emotions.

Days after, it's the start of her schooling in Ashford.

She learned to ignore her stepmom as she kissed her dad and mom before going to school. She put on the mask of her sick persona as she neared the school.

She arrived early. She begun to wander around the school nostalgically thinking of the fun times they had.

She remembered the student council… their activities…

"everyone…"

Just as she turned in a corner, she saw the school garden.

"Nunna-chan.."

She remembered that Nunnally told her before, when they held her captive, that she spent a lot of time at the school garden when they were still in Ashford. She took a deep breath and went inside.

She found Nunnally near the pond. She still as how Kallen remembered her. A sweet, innocent child.

"No wonder Lelouch wants to create a gentle world for you…"

Sensing someone was watching her, Nunnally turned her wheelchair.

"Who's there?" Nunnally softly asked.

Kallen smiled at Nunnally. "I'm sorry to disturbed you. I'm just looking around the campus."

"Oh.. its okay… Are you a new student?"

"Yes.. I'll start my highschool here"

"I see…" Nunnally smiled. "I'm a middle schooler here. I'm Nunnally… Nunnally Lamperouge.. Nice to meet you "

"Hi Nunnally… I'm Kallen… Kallen Stadtfeld.. Nice to meet you as well" Kallen smiled as well.

Before long, both girls talked until the first bell alarmed.

"Oh! I didn't notice we talked so long… I'm sorry for taking your time Kallen-san." Nunnally apologetically smiled.

"I enjoyed talking to you Nunna-chan… Can I call you Nunna-chan? You can just call me Kallen…No need to used formalities to me"

Nunnally smiled. "I see…I just get used to Japanese culture. Yes… Nunna-chan is cute name.. thank you! Then can I call you oneechan?"

Kallen blinked twice. And then smiled widely. "Of course."

Nunnally then raised her head as if remembering something. "Oh no! I promised Nii-sama that I will come back before the bell!"

"Oh.. you have a brother?"

Nunnally turned her attention back to Kallen. "Yes… I have a brother. He is a highschooler as well…"

Suddenly, a maid arrived. Interrupting their conversation as she hold Nunnally's wheelchair.

"Nunnally-sama… Your brother's been worried about you."

The maid said as she holds the wheelchair.

"Oh! I'm sorry Sayoko… please bring me back to the house." She said to the maid. She turned back to Kallen. "I'll see you again sometime oneechan"

Kallen smiled. "Sure… I have to go as well… Bye Nunna-chan." Kallen then timidly walked away from them.

"Nunnally-sama… you made a friend." The maid asked softly.

"Yes… she's kind." Nunnally smiled. "Lets go back to oniisama"

"Yes your highness."

Pacing back and forth, Lelouch feel the relief washed over him at the sight of her sister. "Nunna! Where have you been?"

Nunnally takes his hand. "Just talking to my friend Niisama. I didn't realize the time. I'm sorry."

Lelouch sighed. "its okay. I'm just glad you're okay." Sayoko moved away from the sibling as she smiled softly. Lelouch then hold the wheelchair handle and then moved the wheelchair to the table. "Lets go eat then."

Nunnally frowned. "School will start in five minutes oniisama!"

Lelouch just smiled. "Its okay… Its just the first class"

Nunnally just sighed and ate with her brother. "Just this once oniisama…"

"yes yes.." Lelouch laughed lightly.

The siblings enjoyed their breakfast as they continue talking. After washing the dishes, both of them went to school with Sayoko guiding Nunnally.

"Goodluck! Sayoko I'll leave Nunnally's care to you" Lelouch said softly as he kissed her sister's forehead.

"Yes master." Sayoko said with a smile.

"You too Niisama.." Nunnally smiled as Sayoko pushed the wheelchair towards the Ashford middle school building.

Lelouch watched them go before walking towards his building.

A chime signaling the bell for second subject, he sighed as he went towards his classroom.

Kallen anxiously waited as the classroom slowly filled with students. Everyone's been excited seeing some of familiar faces. Some tried talking to her. She smiled and talk to them back until they leave her alone. The first subject started as she scan her classroom.

'No Lelouch huh…'

She sighed softly as the boring days of school begun.

After the first class, she timidly asked her classmates who suddenly found it enjoyable to accompany her that she had to use the restroom. Quickly walking towards different direction, she sighed and shake her head.

'must endure it!'

The bell yanked her out of her own thought, signaling the second class will begin shortly. She looked herself in the mirror, doing her best to appear sickly and leave the restroom.

She hurriedly walked in the hallway bowing her head slightly to hide her face.

As she rounded a corner, she bumped into someone.

"Ouch!" a voice said as she opened her eyes.

"Oh I'm sorry!" she immediately said as she looked at the person she bumped into.

"s'okay" the blue haired man answered who slowly look at her. "Are you new here?"

"Yes… I'm Kallen… Kallen Stadtfeld."

"Names Rivalz! Nice to meet ya!" the boy said. Kallen smiled as she remembered the guy.

'Still the same Rivalz'

"You know… It's not nice talking to a girl before helping her up…" a voice from behind said as Rivalz looked up and laughed ackwardly.

'that voice'

"Yeah yeah…. Thanks for reminding buddy!" Rivalz said slightly red.

Rivalz held his hand to Kallen. She grabbed it as Rivalz helped her stand up. Kallen then turned to the owner of the other voice as Rivalz approached him.

"This is my buddy! Lelouch Lamperouge" Rivalz said to Kallen.

Kallen stared at his familiar violet eyes. Keeping her emotions down, she smiled softly. "Nice to meet you… Lelouch."

"Likewise." Lelouch answered.

"Hey what's you class now..?" Rivalz asked. Not knowing who he is asking, both Kallen and Lelouch answered. "History"

Rivalz smiled. "Lets go then classmates!" grabbing Lelouch by his shoulder, Rivalz dragged him to their classroom as Kallen followed them staring at his King's back.

'Lelouch….'

Kallen sighed softly.

'this will be a harder than I thought.' She thought as she clenched her chest.

AND THAT'S CHAPTER 2…

I know its slow pace.. please be patient with me. Its still a year before the start of their rebellion.

I really don't have any idea about Kallen's family. Its just that her mother became their maid. But I can't imagine her father as a bad person. He married (am I right?) a Japanese woman and have 2 children with her. I think her father must have a good reason for marrying again.

So I already introduced Nunna-chan in this story! I just love her character. And she will also have a big role in this story…

And of course the first meeting of our King and queen…

Just wait everyone.. CC will explain Kallen's geass as this story progresses.. (probably after the start of their rebellion.)

I want to bring Millay next chapter but I still don't have any ideas how to make it Millay-like entrance… you know what I mean? Any ideas?

Oh this will be the last chapter for this week! ( I have classes staring tomorrow)
