There were a lot of things Varric lied about when he told Cassandra about the final act of Hawke's little adventure in Kirkwall, and there were a whole lot of (omitted) things that came after, including a family reunion and a little something involving the Warden-Commander and her sudden disappearance. - See chapter 3 for link to a revised version of this work currently in progress

This fanfiction has been abandoned. I am revisiting some of the original ideas and reworking them in a way that I think will come together much more neatly. If you are still interested in the foundation for this story, and the relationships it will explore, I suggest you visit the new fanfiction over at AO3, by following this link.

For posterity's sake, I will leave these original chapters up; most of what comprised the early chapters will not be revisited in the reworking of this story, as I found it to be a little clumsy. The new work is still in progress.
