Chapter 3
"Cap'n Sparrow!" Gibbs cried out from his post, pointing off into the distance across the blue ocean waters, "It's the Ghastly Ghoul, straight ahead!"
Jack sighed, scrunching his face up, "Appears we're a little late, again. Must've already traded Will for that map." He tapped his foot impatiently in thought for a moment before turning to his first mate, "Might as well relieve them of it. Ready the crew for a fight."
The Black Pearl signaled the Dauntless and both ships busied themselves for the upcoming battle. Norrington and Sparrow both made sure that their men were prepared for whatever the Ghastly Ghoul threw their way. Against her will, Elizabeth was kept securely in the captain's cabin with a guard. She grumbled, but controlled herself so that the men could worry about the fight instead of her. She got her sword ready anyway, just in case it should come to that.
The Ghastly Ghoul tried to make a run for it, but the Black Pearl cut her off firing the first shots. The Dauntless flanked her forced the pirates to defend both sides. One-eyed Murdock yelled threatening orders to his men which were cut off as a cannon ball knocked the wood from beneath him. The blast threw him across the ship and skewered him on some splintered railing. Without a captain, the crew of the Ghastly Ghoul surrendered quickly as their numbers dwindled at an alarming rate.
Captain Sparrow retrieved the map from One-eyed Murdock's corpse and delivered it to Commodore Norrington. The remaining crew from the captured ship were secured in the Dauntless's brig while the crew of the Black Pearl were allowed to plunder the Ghastly Ghoul for any loot.
Once both crews were on their respective ships and the Ghastly Ghoul was sunk, the Dauntless and the Black Pearl set their sights on Bootstrap's island. Jack charted a course for them to come to the island with the fog rolling in. Then he, Norrington, Elizabeth, and Gibbs would go ashore to meet with Bootstrap. That was the plan, anyway.
Will groaned. Slowly he cracked open his eyes. The room was dimly lit with fading sunset and, most importantly, empty. Another groan escaped his lips as he pushed himself up to a sitting position.
A sudden pain in his side told him why this was a bad idea. Will pushed his hand against the pain and it can back bloody. He needed to bind the knife wound before he lost too much blood. Smirking to himself, Will grabbed the white sheets off his father's bed and proceeded to rip them into strips and bind his wound.
Once that was done, Will forced himself to stand leaning heavily against the wall. The room was bare, except for the bed and an odd collection of starfish hanging on the wall. Neither seemed very helpful at the moment. With a sigh, Will gathered his strength and started for the door.
It was then that the door opened.
