Here it is! Chapter 3! Sorry for taking long. I was pretty busy during vacation and my laptop wasn't with me since I forgot to bring it with me when I stayed at my grandma's house.
Anyway, please enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own Pokespe. Never have. Never will.
Yellow closed her eyes as she felt the breeze blow, her long blonde hair being lifted by the wind. Kanto was surprisingly cold today, she thought. She looked at the skies above her and was amazed at the amount of stars in the dark sky. She tried to identify some of the constellations, but couldn't. This wasn't her expertise. Maybe she could ask either Green or Crystal to teach her about constellations someday, especially Crystal since she really likes astrology.
She smiled as she saw a falling star, and remembered her days in Viridian Forest – her home. She couldn't see the stars in the forest due to the amount of trees so she climbed the tress just to take a look at them. She would count the stars until she fell asleep. Sometimes, she reaches out her hands, hoping to touch them, but she knows that she couldn't. Nevertheless, stars amazed her and she loved watching them at night. It wasn't much, but it was already enough for a girl like her.
She looked to her east, at the direction of the forest. She could see everything from the roof of the game corner where she was standing. She could see the cycling road, where the cyclists are despite the time of the day. She could identify Viridian City, as it was the town that was near her home. She remembered shopping there for groceries and talking to the locals. She then looked above the Viridian City, and felt empty all of a sudden.
There used to be trees there, she thought to herself.
Indeed, Viridian Forest was erased from the map, due to forest fire. The source of the fire was unknown. Yellow still remembered that day when she was suddenly surrounded with fire, her desperate attempts to put the fire out until she was grabbed by her uncle to save her from its dangers. She couldn't stop crying that day. Since her home was gone now, her uncle decided that she would live with him instead. Even though she wanted to go back where the forest was, she couldn't. There was nothing to go back to.
No one even tried to restore the forest back to its glory. Nobody cared because for everyone else, it was just a forest. They didn't consider it as a big loss. But for Yellow, the forest was her home, the place where she grew up.
She wishes to bring back Viridian Forest again with her powers, perhaps after she graduates from Indigo University, when she becomes strong enough to restore her home.
"I hope everything's going well..."
Yellow glanced to Diamond who spoke, munching on his cookies that he brought with him. He continued to bite into it while looking at the doorway of the game corner where two of their companions went in just a few hours ago. She could see his blue eyes looking at every person who was coming out of the building, examining every single one of them, probably to see if their companion was one of them. Or was he judging them?
Diamond then looked at Yellow, and offered her some of his cookies. Yellow politely refused, saying that she wasn't hungry, which Diamond took well. Perhaps... too well. He was probably happy that she refused because that would mean that he would have more food to himself.
Diamond then joined his friend on the floor as he sat down beside him. The blond boy acknowledged Diamond by nodding at him and returned to look at the doorway as his friend did just a few minutes ago.
Yellow looked at the boy, who was obviously avoiding her gaze for some reason. Pearl usually isn't the silent type, except when he's near her. Sometimes, Yellow wonders if she did something wrong to him, but could not think of anything. Not that he refuses to talk to her at all; he just avoids it as much as possible.
Pearl was swinging his feet in the air, and Diamond was talking to him about something that she really could not relate to (something about 'double act'), while Pearl was commenting about the boy's story. Watching them made her smile. One look at them and you would know that they are the bestest of friends. Sometimes, she was jealous of the bond they had. Sure she had Red, but he was mostly busy and usually hangs out with Green. Blue was practically the opposite of her and, although she couldn't keep up at times with her pace, she appreciated the girl's kind gestures to her. Blue was the one who helped the most with her confidence, after all.
Her thoughts were halted when the three of them turned around when they heard someone whistling at them from the back of the building. Yellow quickly ran to the edge, with Diamond and Pearl following suit, and saw the familiar crimson eyes. They all jumped off, surprising their friend with their sudden action.
"Woah, careful! You're going to splash some mud on me!" Ruby said as he removed the cloak that was hindering his movements for a while now.
"Sorry," Yellow apologized. She then looked at the cage that Ruby brought with him. "Thank you for your hard work."
Ruby just sighed as he fixed his hair and put on his knit cap to cover it. "Why couldn't Pearl just do it instead of me? We both have the same type anyway…" he murmured.
"I don't know… you should ask Red later," she replied as she examined the girl who was inside the cage. Yellow tried to reach out to her through the metal bars but when the girl backed off, she took back her hand.
"I'll just destroy it for you, if that makes you feel better…" Pearl offered.
"Sure," Ruby nodded, as he massaged his biceps. "I really don't like using my typing anyway…" he whispered to himself.
Yellow then crouched down to meet the eyes of the captured girl. "Hi. What's your name?" she asked gently. The girl just looked at her, fear still evident in her eyes. It's clear that she isn't used to the kindness being shown to her right now. She couldn't imagine how the girl was treated to make her act like this.
"It's alright," Yellow comforted her, trying her best to put out the gentlest voice she can do. She assumed that the girl was around 12 to 14 based on her petite body. She then tried to remember Nurse Joy of the school clinic and tried to replicate her ways of communicating with patients.
"We're not going to harm you. We're here to help you. We're your friends," she smiled as she finished her sentence, showing that she meant no harm.
Yellow noticed that the girl's body was relaxing; her guard was coming down. Her shoulders were slumping, her eyes were softening, and her breathing was getting stable second by second. Yellow made a victory cheer inside her head, and tried to reach out to the girl again.
"I'm Yellow. Nice to meet you." The girl was looking at her hand. Almost there,Yellow thought in her head. This wasn't something that should be rushed, but they didn't have much time. Sooner or later, the institute would find out that their product is gone. Their other companion was still in there…
"…I", the girl spoke, her voice small and meek, but very tired and slightly sore. Yellow strained her ears just to hear her voice. The three boys just kept looking at what was happening in front of them patiently. They knew that Yellow knows what she was doing.
The girl grabbed a handful of her hair in both of her hands and gulped. Her eyes flickered to the blonde girl who was speaking with her and to the guys behind her. She recognized the one with the knit cap, the one who carried her cage outside. She looked again at Yellow, and saw that she had the same insignia that the guy had on the back of her left hand.
The girl gathered her courage to speak to her. The least she could do was return their kindness.
"I… I'm Emma…" she managed to blurt out.
Yellow smiled at that as she made another victory cheer inside her head. "You have a beautiful hair, Emma." She told the girl who blushed slightly at the unexpected compliment. "Now, we're going to get you out of here. Don't worry; it's not going to hurt you at all." Yellow then touched Pearl's shoulder, who flinched with the sudden contact. "He's going to get you out of here."
Emma just nodded at Yellow, who backed up to give space for the blond.
"Do you want me to smash it, or melt it?" Pearl asked his companions.
"What do you mean by 'smash'"? Ruby asked, slightly worried about the danger that Pearl might do.
"I'm just going to rip the top off, or maybe bend the bars until I could create an opening wide enough for her." Pearl said in a matter-of-factly tone. Diamond's eyes suddenly took a shine at his friend's comment, getting excited of seeing Pearl's strength.
"I think that's safer than melting the cage." Yellow replied.
Pearl nodded as he went on top of the cage. He knocked on it, examining how hard and thick it was, only to learn that it wasn't that at all. He then grinned at this knowledge. This should be quick, he thought to himself as he put his hands on one of the edges. He focused his element on both of his hands, counted mentally in his head, and rips it out cleanly.
He ripped only half of it so that he could still stand on it, and reached out to Emma with a big smile on his face, He noticed that her eyes had gotten wider, probably surprised of how quick that was. Emma looked at the boy who was above her, and couldn't help looking at his exotic orange eyes which were bright despite the darkness. It was scaring her a bit because of how different it was from his companions. Emma quickly came to her senses and gladly took the boy's hands.
Pearl helped her go down the grass, and held onto her until she could stand up properly. Yellow quickly approached her, her palms emitting a green light. "I'm just going to heal your injuries," she reassured Emma as she healed them one by one.
Emma watched Yellow heal her injuries and scars and was amazed at the girl's display of skill. The scars were disappearing fast, her wounds were closing up, and her body was feeling lighter than ever. She could breathe better, her throat was clearing up, and she could feel that her body was relaxing. She caught a faint smell of flowers from her element.
"It's Aromatherapy," Yellow told her. Emma's ears perked up at her voice, which Yellow noticed and made her giggle. "I'm glad that it's working well," she continued. Emma just nodded at her while Yellow resumed healing her.
Suddenly, they could hear footsteps coming towards them. Ruby, Diamond, and Pearl got into a defensive stance but when they saw that familiar indigo hair, they realized that there was nothing to worry about.
"Platinum!" Diamond called out to her.
Platinum just smiled at the boy as she removed all the jewelry and the heavy cloak she wore inside the Game Corner. She then looked at Emma who she previously just "bought".
Emma was just looking at Platinum, remembering what happened at the auction, and looked back at Yellow for clarification.
"She's a friend also," Yellow then asked Ruby if he had a hair brush with him. Ruby nodded and he instantly gave it to her. Yellow then brushed Emma's hair, fixing it as much as she can.
"Did you really pay?" Diamond asked, popping another cookie in his mouth. He then offered Emma who gladly accepted it.
"Of course not. As soon as we were alone, I beat him senseless." Platinum stated, trying to remember the feeling of punching the old man. It really felt good to punish those who deserved it.
"Alone?" Pearl asked, slightly surprised. "D-did he touch you?!"
Platinum giggled at her friend. Sometimes, they worry too much about her. It didn't really bother her that much. In fact, she appreciated it very well. It was one of the things that told her that her friends cared about her well-being and not just her wealth.
"No, don't worry." Platinum replied. Pearl released his breath that he didn't realize he was keeping. Diamond just smiled at Pearl's antics as he offered all of his cookies to Emma, to both of his friends' surprise.
"What? I know how to share too~" Diamond said. "Besides, I think she needs it more than I do."
Emma happily munched on the chocolate chip cookies. It was the first time she had tasted something like this in her entire life. When she was captured, she was usually served a bland soup and bread that has already hardened, and water. The sweetness of the cookies was pleasuring her tongue and it made her feel like she was in heaven.
"I guess we're done here." Ruby said, looking back at the game corner. "Let's go back to where the others are."
The rest of them nodded at his statement and prepared to go when suddenly, a shadow shaped like tentacles came out from the building and grabbed each of them by their ankles, dragging them inside the building again, their screams and surprised cries too late to be heard by others.
The only thing left was the cage, the dropped cookies, and the disheveled grass, showing their hopeless attempt to prevent themselves from being dragged away from the light.
Gold's eyes were scanning through the virtual screens powered by his electricity. He looked at the bottom right of the screen where the clock is. It was five minutes to four. In another few hours, the sun will rise. He clicked his tongue as he went to check his contacts.
Yellow's team was not responding at all. They haven't called him either. What was taking them so long?
Red noticed that Gold was getting annoyed and worried at the same time, and found it quite amusing. He knows that the boy considered the group as his family, and Gold has this natural instinct to look over anyone he considers as friends. You could say that he has a "big brother instinct", especially towards the Hoenn and Sinnoh trio who are younger than him by a year.
Red couldn't blame him though. Even he himself considers the Dex as his family, and he knows that everyone does as well. Yes, even Green, though he knows that Green would never admit it. Some of the members didn't have any family to go back to, which was why they considered Dex as their second family.
He suddenly became aware of the insignia he had on his back. The symbol of Dex is shaped like a pokeball, as Professor Oak said, symbolizing their goal and their ideals. He was glad that he became part of this group, and was gladder that he leads them. He was proud to be the leader, even if it's hard work.
Red looked at the direction where the game corner was. He was currently standing on the rooftop of the Celadon hotel that they borrowed for tonight. They were glad that the owner of the hotel was cooperative. His mind went to the faces of the five people he sent to the game corner as he evaluated his plan.
Ruby and Platinum to blend in with the crowd and infiltrate the building, Yellow to take care of the captured, and Diamond and Pearl for back-up when something goes wrong.
"Hey."
Red turned around to face Gold, who called out to him. Gold was still looking at the screen, biting his nails until they were almost bleeding.
"Don't you think that they're taking too long?" Gold asked. "I'm getting kind of worried here... I can't seem to find them also…"
"You lost track of them?" Red asked, finally realizing the reason why the boy was worried.
"Kinda… I don't know. They were here just a few minutes ago but they suddenly disappeared." Gold explained to his leader. He ran his hands through his messy jet black hair and clicked his tongue again in irritation. "Do you think we should go there?"
Sometimes, Red wonders if Gold does know what he's really doing.
Red tried to focus his eyes to see the game corner, but couldn't see anything even if he tried his best. There's only one person who can see something that far…
"Sapphire!" Red called out.
The girl immediately stood up from her sitting position and came to Red as fast as possible. The girl saluted her leader happily, her tiny fangs coming out from her mouth when she smiles, which Red found kind of adorable, but threatening at the same time. He knows how deadly those fangs of hers are.
"Can you see Ruby and the others?" Red asked, pointing where the game corner is.
"Let's see…" Sapphire just looked at the direction where he pointed at and shook her head. "Nope. But there's a cage there that's broken. Maybe they're coming here now?" Sapphire looked again at where the cage is. "I think Dia littered a little there," she pointed it out.
"What do you mean?" By this time, the other members of Dex came towards Red, Sapphire, and Gold to see what was going on. They were starting to worry about their comrades as well.
"There are cookies everywhere. He was eating that when he went there, right?" Sapphire asked to Red.
"I think they won't litter considering that Yellow's with them," Blue suddenly commented. "And besides, I think Dia's not too ignorant to litter…"
"Red, I think something really happened to them." Gold stated again to Red as he started to stand up and turned off his element, which turned off the screens as well.
Red then looked back at the direction where the game corner was and looked back at his team's faces - determined, worried, and waiting for his orders. His mind then flashed to the five faces he sent and remembered what they said to him when he explained his plans to them.
"We'll take care of it."
He believed them.
"I think they're going to be fine." Red said as he sat on the floor. The others just nodded, believing their leaders' words, though Gold had to be convinced both by Silver and Crystal who tried to calm him down.
He believed them.
Yellow, Ruby, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. They're smart, they're strong, and they are capable. They aren't weak. He knows this.
He could send a meteor shower there if he wanted to, but stopped himself.
He believed them.
But he couldn't help but worry as well as he watched the game corner.
Please be okay…
"You're finally awake,"
Platinum opened her eyes after being unconscious for who knows how long. She could feel the cold cement floor that she was lying on. Her head was hurting and she could feel that she was constricted by something. Was it a rope? She didn't really know, and her mind still isn't clear enough to process what was happening to her right now. The last thing she could remember was being outside the game corner, and then, they were suddenly dragged…
Her eyes widened suddenly and looked up at the voice who spoke earlier. It was a woman with silver hair and a visor that covered her eyes. She was sitting in front of her with her legs crossed, grinning happily, her red lipstick glimmering from the light.
Platinum looked at her right to see her friends in the same situation as well. She finally learned that it wasn't a rope that she was tie with, but a shadow in form of a rope. She followed where the shadow was coming from to see that it was coming from the woman's.
A Dark type, she thought to herself.
The woman approached her suddenly and lifted her head by her chin. She looked at Platinum from different angles, touched her hair, and caressed her cheeks. Despite the gentle touch, it was freaking Platinum out.
The woman then started doing the same to her friends as well, examining them one by one. When she got to Pearl however, she stopped in mid-walk and fell to the floor fast on her knees. The woman lifted his head up, a little forceful compared to others, and looked at him dead in his eyes.
Then she started laughing, which sent shudders to Platinum's spine. Diamond was starting to cringe, Pearl was trying to free himself from the woman's grasp, Emma was starting to cry, and Ruby was looking grim. Yellow tried to keep a calm face but couldn't help the fear she was feeling right now.
"I was glad that I didn't kill you all instantly. Looks like I've hit a jackpot," she told them, her smile getting wider and wider, as if she couldn't contain her excitement. "I could make a fortune from all of you. Especially you two," the woman looked at Platinum and Pearl. "You're both worth millions."
Suddenly, rocks started flying towards the woman, sending her across the room. The attack made her release their grasp on them.
"I won't let you." Diamond said, as he stood up and prepared himself for another attack.
The woman was dazed from the hit and was trying to get up but Platinum and Yellow took this chance to hit her with another attack.
"Water Pulse!"
"Vine Whip!"
Both of them hit the woman directly, sending her to the floor, making a crater in the process. Ruby instantly went towards Emma to protect her from the flying debris.
"Dark Pulse," the woman suddenly said, sending black auras in form of waves around them, to push them away from her so she can counterattack. The woman started standing up and ran towards both of the girls, but was pushed back when a wheel of fire came crashing onto her.
Flame Wheel, the woman thought to herself as she tried to stop the spinning but couldn't due to the extreme heat. Her torso was starting to burn up, which hurt her. She tried to release Dark Pulse again instead but the pain was overcoming her ability to think.
Once the Pearl pushed her back enough, he kicked her hard onto the chest to push her back even more as well as to move away from her and shouted for Diamond to deal the last blow.
"Stone Edge!" Diamond shouted as he sent the woman upwards by stabbing her with sharp rocks from the ground. He smiled at himself, glad that the ground was made of cement instead of wood.
"We could have used your help, you know." Pearl told Ruby.
"Nah, I think you guys handled it well anyway. Besides, I don't like battles," he defended himself.
Suddenly, an explosion was heard above them, and another one which resulted on the ceiling being broken. All of them got into a defensive stance, expecting reinforcement but was surprised to see Gold come through the hole that was just made.
"I knew it! You guys were in trouble!" Gold exclaimed as he jumped down, landing perfectly on his feet. "So, where's the enemy?" the boy asked as he looked left and right.
"It's over. She's done." Ruby explained, pointing to where the woman was lying down.
Gold looked where the woman was and sighed in defeat. "Oh man, I was expecting a fight, you know…" he said, his knuckles crackling from electricity, signifying how prepared he was.
Platinum just giggled at him while Diamond and Pearl just looked at each other before smiling.
"You guys were cool…"
All of them turned their heads to Emma who suddenly spoke in amazement. The girl quickly realized what she has done and hid herself using her hair to cover up the blush creeping up her face. Ruby just patted Emma's head, which made her embarrassed even more.
"Gold!" They looked up to see Red looking at them from the hole above. "You really live up to the speed that electric types are know for," Red whispered to himself before speaking to Gold. "Are you okay? You didn't have to bust in, you know…?" Red asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Gold nodded as he gave a thumbs up to their leader, ignoring the other statement completely. Yellow and the others greeted Red showing that they're fine as well, which made the leader smile.
"What is going on here?"
Red looked up from his position to see a woman clad in yellow kimono, looking at the surroundings in disbelief.
"Erika…"
"Thank you Dex for accepting our request! Without you, we couldn't have been able to arrest Hunter J, the head of this place!" The policeman saluted to Red and Green.
"It's not that big of a deal, Mr. Looker," Red reassured him. He then looked at Erika, one of the Pillars in Kanto region, who was still looking at the game corner.
"I… actually knew there was something that was going on below the game corner…" She said, her head down in shame. "I just couldn't do anything about it."
"What do you mean?" Green asked.
Erika thought for a while, debating if she should tell the reason of her actions. She looked at Red and Green who were waiting patiently for her answer. She closed her eyes and gathered the words inside her head.
"The Lord said that I should leave it alone," she said.
"Do you think that they're involved?" Red asked.
"I don't know," she paused for a while before speaking again, "I don't want to know," she admitted.
Green just nodded at her answer, thinking that the information was already enough for his grandfather when he tells him later after this.
"Thank you," Erika said, bowing at both of them. Red just smiled at her while Green bowed back. She then returned to her residence to go back to sleep.
They suddenly heard laughter from behind them, which made the boys turn around to see what was happening. They saw that they were teasing how Emerald was smaller than Emma despite being older. Emerald then argued that he just likes being near the ground which is why he was small, and then pointed out that Yellow is almost the same height as Emma despite being older as well, which made Yellow horrified at the revelation. Crystal was talking to Emma, which was natural to her since she had worked in an orphanage before.
Crystal then spoke to Silver about something, and the next thing you know, Silver was making snow fall in their place, which made Emma happy.
"What are we going to do with her?" Red asked Green.
"I don't know. Grandpa didn't say anything…" he replied.
"We can't send her to an orphanage… I think that's too… cruel" Red said.
"Then what do you suppose we should do?"
"You can make her come with me."
Both of the boys looked at Looker who offered to take Emma with him.
"She's from Kalos, right? I could take her with me there." Looker explained as he looked at Emma who was currently riding on Gold's back. "I can take care of her. I'll take her under my wing."
"You're working, right? Can you handle both?" Green asked, slightly worried. He knows how painful being neglected due to work feels like, and he doesn't want Emma to feel that way.
"I can handle them just fine. Don't worry." Looker reassured him with a determined smile on his face. Red and Green looked at each other before calling Emma.
Emma quickly ran to the two boys, with the rest of the Dex following behind. Red then explained that Looker was willing to adopt her and take care of her until she was old enough to take care of herself.
"I can go back to Kalos?" she asked.
"Yes. And you'll live with me there." Looker explained to the girl.
"Okay," she smiled at Looker and went to his side.
"Problem solved!" Red exclaimed.
Looker then bowed towards the group before heading off to his police car. They all noticed that Emma took Looker's hands gladly as they walked together hand-in-hand. This made all of them smile at the view. They already looked like a family despite being together only for a minute or so. They knew that Looker could take care of Emma properly.
When the engine started, Emma popped her head from the window and smiled at all of them, shouting "Thank you" from the top of her lungs as she waved them goodbye. All of them shouted back "Take care" and "Good luck" at her which made Emma tear up a bit. She vowed to herself that she would never forget their kindness. She would return it someday.
"Mission Complete!" Sapphire shouted.
"Yeah. Let's go home now." Red said.
"We still have class today." Crystal reminded.
Gold groaned loudly while the others sighed. "Did you really have to remind us that?" he complained.
"We should be excused," Blue said, then approached Green, "You should tell Professor Oak to excuse us and give us a day to rest. I'm sure he would listen to his grandchild."
"I'll try," Green replied. "They keyword being try."
They weren't excused that day because Professor Oak does not tolerate laziness in his school, and special treatment.
If you are reading this, then you have survived the third chapter of this story. YAYYY. Here's your cookie.
I'm sorry if the action scene was kind of confusing. I'm not really good at explaining actions. I'm better than drawing them than narrating it.
If anyone's wondering, Gold's virtual screen/computer works like the magic of Hibiki Lates from Fairy Tail.
Sapphire's "Mission Complete" is actually a reference of Pokemon Ranger games.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for those people that reviewed and gave me tips on how to improve this story. I really appreciate it.
Anyway, see you next chapter!
