Maybe whiskey wasn't the best choice of drink

Ste thought to himself as he tried his best to grab the bottle without knocking it over before he could get a good grip

on the bottle, it was quickly taken away. Ste watched the hand that had taken the bottle from him to see Nate.

"Give it back." Ste muttered out.

"Have you lost your mind?" Nate questioned.

"Maybe, now can I get back to my drink?"

"You wreck my guest room and stole my fiancée's car for what? To a prove a point?"

"You want the car back it's parked down the street."

" Well, thank you for that, but do you have any idea what you've done. Cheryl is in bits…"

"Oh, poor Princess Chez, her perfect home was all ripped apart, what will she ever do?" Ste slurred out as he slowly

tried to stand but his legs quickly failed him. He fell forward straight in to Nate, who quickly caught him.

"Oi, get off of me!" He stated as he pushed Nate away.

"Ste, where do you think you're going?"

"To take a piss" He drunkenly stated as he stumbled towards the bathrooms. Nate watched as Ste bounced off the

walls on his way towards the back, he pulled his wallet out of his pocket and called out to the bartender, "Mate."

The Bartender walked over, "How much does that man who just left owe?"

" 42.50 so far."

"This is for what he owes and here's a little extra if you don't serve him anymore." he stated as he handed the money.

The bartender took the money and quickly cleared Ste's area. A couple of minutes later Ste stumbled back to see Nate

still standing by his seat but his drink was missing.

"Where the hell is my drink?"

"You're done drinking, Ste…"

"Who made you the boss of me, ey?"

"Cheryl and I's wedding is less than a day away , and I'll be damned if I'm going to let this ruin her day over you and

her brother." Nate stated.

"Excuse me. If it wasn't for her brother there wouldn't be a wedding!"

"Ste, that's not what I meant."

"Then how was it supposed to come out? That man gave up his whole life for her… so she could be happy and live her

life…"

"I know that, okay, but you sitting here at a bar, drinking away whatever it is that you're trying to drink away, will not

change anything."

"No, you're right it won't, but maybe just maybe I'll get drunk enough to where I'll pick up some bloke who will make

me forget about my life for several hours.

"Alcohol and sex so that's your answer?"

"You got a problem with that?"

"What is that going to solve? Brendan will still be in jail, but the only difference will be is that you'll have a massive

headache afterwards."

Ste didn't respond.

"Why don't you come back with me, we'll sober you up, and then you and Cheryl can talk about this…"

"Her and I have nothing to talk about, Nate. I know all that I need to know."

"She wanted to tell you."

"What?"

"She wanted to tell you, but… Brendan… he didn't want you to…"

"Nate, I don't care, okay, Chez has her reason for doing what she did… I just want to forget… I just want to forget

that I ever met that family… I want to forget him" Ste stated trying to hold back any type of emotion as he quickly

dug through his pocket to retrieve the keys he had taken, "Here are your keys back and just in case it wasn't clear I

won't be attending the wedding on Thursday."

"Ste, don't do this. Cheryl is going to be heartbroken." Nate replied as he took the keys from Ste.

"That's not really my problem now is it?" Ste stated as he pushed through the patrons who were entering the bar, Nate quickly followed.

"Ste, wait." Nate called out. Ste stopped dead in his tracks

"...Do you know what..." Ste stated as he turned to face Nate, who was standing a few feet behind him."...I'm done,

I'm done trying to make everyone else happy. For the past two years I've had to paint a fake smile across my face,

day in and day out, I pretend that I'm okay… and the truth is I'm not." He confessed. "I've tried so hard to be okay,

but then I have that one weak moment where I remember... I remember how I've messed up multiple times... I

remember... how everything could have been different... and I'm just so tired of it all. So here's me changing

something, So you can tell Cheryl I hope she chokes on her wedding." Ste stated as he tried to walk back into the bar,

but was stopped by Nate grabbing him by the arm.

"You said what you needed to say, now you're going to listen to me. That beautiful woman that I'm marrying in two

days has had her whole life turned upside down because of her family and for you to take your anger out on her isn't

fair at all, when you know very well that Brendan is the one you're angry with. So go work out whatever you need to

work out but come Thursday you better be back at the house sober, with a smile, and ready for that wedding." Nate

stated as he released Ste's arm, he then made his way down the street. Ste watched as the older man walked away,

he ran his hands over his face in frustration before returning to the bar. Ste made his way back to his seat, but before

he could even order another drink the bartender stopped Ste. "Sorry, you've been cut off."

"What?"

"Sorry, Mate." He stated before attending to other customers.

"Damn it…"

"Can I buy you a drink?" the man stated. Ste turned toward the voice to see the man from before, "My name is

Andrew." he continued has he held his hand out.

"Ste." he stated as he shook his hand.

"I saw your friend pay the bartender to cut you off.'

"Really," He stated unsurprised

"He must really care about you to do that."

"Yeah, right..."

"Would he be the reason why you're her drinkin'?"

"I'm not sure how that would be any of your business" Ste smirkingly stated as he took a seat at the bar

"I'll take that as a yes then?"

Ste didn't respond.

"How about this... a drink for an answer?" Andrew offered.

"...Fine, but the drink comes first." Ste reluctantly stated.

"What will it be then?" Andrew question as he waved over the bartender.

"A beer"

The bar keep walked over and Andrew ordered their drinks. "Now that's taken care of, how about that answer?"

"No."

"Pardon?"

"No, the man who was just here wasn't the reason... He's the soon to be brother-in-law of the reason."

The bartender just at that moment returned with the two men's drinks.

"So what happened? With this mystery man of yours?" Andrew asked as he handed Ste his drink.

"If I'm not mistaken that was more than one question." Ste informed the man as he took a sip of the drink.

"What can I say, I'm a curious guy."

"Ever heard of curiosity killing the cat..." Ste responded with a smile as he took another sip of his drink. " If you insist

on asking questions it's going to take a whole lot more than just one drink..." Ste replied as he leaned back in his

chair.

"More drinks can be arranged than."

It had been an hour since Nate left the bar when he pulled into the driveway he shut the car off then made his way

into the house to find Cheryl sitting in the living room.

"Did you find him?" Cheryl asked the moment she saw Nate walk through the door.

"Uh, Yeah."

"Well is he okay? Where is he?"

" He's drunk at a bar." Nate stated.

" And you just left him there? You have to go back…"

"Babe, he's upset okay, I couldn't make him come back with me."

"But he has to… I have to explain to him…"

"Just give him time." Nate stated has he pulled her into a hug.

"I should've told him." she stated as tears began to form in her eyes.

"You were respecting your brother wishes."

The two stumbled into the dark hotel room without even breaking lip contact. Moans escaped from both men's

mouths as Andrew slammed the door behind them. The two made their way over and fell on to the king size bed. Ste

ran his hands under Andrew's shirt, pushing it up his body and over his head. Their lips met again as Andrew worked

his hand down from Ste's chest down to his pants, but was quickly stopped by Ste. They both pulled away and stared

at each other, until Ste pushed Andrew on to the bed and crawled on top of him. He quickly ripped his own shirt off,

Andrew ran his hand across Ste's stomach up to the crucifix that laid on his lower chest.

"I didn't take you as a religious type of guy." Andrew stated softly. Ste sat up straight and yank the crucifix away. He

pulled the necklace over his head and threw it across the room.

"I'm not."

"Auntie Chez?" Declan questioned as he entered the kitchen.

"Declan, it's nearly two in the morning, what are you doing up?"

"I could ask you the same thing… I'm sorry." He stated as he made his way over to the table where Cheryl was sitting.

"Babe, why are you apologizing?" she asked

"For telling Ste about Dad, I should have kept my mouth shut." Declan replied as he took a seat next to Cheryl.

"You don't have to apologize for anything, what happen was on me. I should have never listened to your father."

"So you haven't heard anything from Ste?"

"Nothing, I've tried calling him, he's been ignoring them I guess."

"I'm sure he'll come around."

"That's what your Uncle is saying, he thinks Ste just needs some space."

"Uncle Nate is right, plus with the wedding a day away there's no way, Ste wouldn't show up."

"I just wish he'd answer my calls. I just… he's been through so much these past couple years… I don't think he's really gotten over how your father and him left things."

"Ste's a strong person, I'm sure he'll come around after he has a cool down."

"I hope you're right, love."

Ste slowly opened his eyes to see the sunlight peeking through the window. He looked around the hotel room trying to

remember where he was. He rolled over in bed to see Andrew fast asleep. His eyes shot open in a mixture of confusion

and shock.

Shit, what have I done? God, not again how the hell did I get here? Better yet why am I here? Why can't I remember

anything? Okay, just calm down Ste, think... what happened yesterday? I woke up, had breakfast with Chez, Nate

and the kids… Chez how could I forget that… she's seen him, it's all coming back now. Oh God, my head is killing me.

Ste rolled over on his back and stared up at the ceiling. He let out a soft sigh and covered his eyes to block the

sunlight. Ste slightly looked over at the man next to him. Damn it. What's his name? Jacob? Eric? Anthony? No, oh

my god, why do I keep doing this to myself ? Okay think, Ste, it started with an A, right? I think... was it Adam?

Aaron? Arthur? You know what I just need to leave that way I won't need to remember his name… I need to get out

of here. He told himself as he slowly sat up in bed, he swung his leg over the side of the bed trying his best not to

make a sound.

"Morning," Ste heard Andrew say.

Fuck!

"Umm… Morning…"Ste stated awkwardly without facing the man

"How did you sleep?

Before Ste could answer he heard his phone ringing. "Christ." Ste moaned as he rose from the bed to search for the

phone. Ste held the comforter close to his waist as he dug the phone out of his pocket, it continued to ring as Ste

check to see who it was, as he sat back down in the bed.

Chez appeared across the screen as well as a picture of her. It rang a couple more times before it went silent. Ste

unlocked his phone to see a bunch of notifications:

29 Missed Calls

Ste laid back onto the bed.

"Whoever it is, they really want to talk to you." Andrew replied as he watch Ste.

"Um… I'm sorry I probably should have switched off my phone."

"In all fairness, we both had other things on our minds." Andrew stated as he pulled Ste closer to him. They met each

other face to face, Andrew placed a soft kiss on Ste's lips. Ste quickly pulled away,

"Sorry," Ste responded softly. He wasn't really sure why he had apologized, he looked around the room.

"No need for apologies, you okay?"

"Umm… yeah just trying to remember what happened yesterday."

"Not surprised after the way you were downing your drinks last night." Andrew stated as he wrapped his arms around

Ste. He could feel Ste tensing up, " Didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." He stated as he released Ste.

"You didn't." Ste replied as he got up from the bed and searched for his clothes.

"Steven, what are you doing?"

Ste stopped quickly and stared at the man. "What did you just called me?" Ste confusingly asked.

"Steven? That's what you told me to call you…."

Ste, after finding his boxers, quickly put them on and began to gather the rest of his items.

"Steven, what's wrong?" Andrew asked as he wrapped the sheet from the bed around his waist and made his way

over to Ste.

"Don't call me that…"

"Ste…" Andrew began to say as he placed a hand on to Ste's shoulder.

"Don't touch me, okay…." He nearly screamed. " I have to go." He stated as he grabbed the rest of his things and ran

out of the hotel room. Before Andrew could say anything Ste was out the door. Down the hall Ste quickly made his

way to the elevators and quickly got dressed. His phone started ringing. The elevator doors opened and he made his

way in as he stared down at his cell.

Nate Tenbury-Newent display across the phone. Ste quickly answered the phone, " What do you want?" he stated.

"Well, good morning to you too, Ste."

"I thought I made it perfectly clear at the bar…"

"I'm surprise you remembered that."

"What do you want Nate?"

"Cheryl has been trying to get a hold of you for the past day and a half."

"Day and a half?"

"Yeah,"

" Look, it doesn't matter because I already told you I'm not coming…"

"And I told you that you had until today to get yourself sorted and now times up. You have an hour to get here and

ready." Nate finally stated before ending the call.
