As much as I wanted to spend another day in bed with Loki, I knew I had to get up today and meet with Tori. She would not stop texting me since last night. So I had no choice but to agree to go get coffee with her.
Loki was still asleep when I woke up, so I left him to sleep while I got a shower and got ready. The whole time I was in the shower, I couldn't help but to remember what we had done in there. I bit my lip at those thoughts. Yesterday was amazing, and I hoped that we could have more experiences like that.
I exited the shower and got ready for the day. When I was finally done, I reentered my bedroom to find Loki awake and sitting up.
"There you are. I thought you left me alone in your apartment. Why are you all dressed up?" Loki asked looking over my attire.
"My friend has insisted that I meet with her today. So I had to get ready for that." He pouted. "I would love nothing more than to stay in bed again with you, but she is getting impatient. I should see her before she starts to think I have been kidnapped." I further explained.
Loki nodded and got out of bed and walked over to me. He grabbed my waist and pulled me to his chest. His lips found mine and he gave me a passionate morning kiss. "As much as I would love that too, I understand. Please say you will go to dinner with me tonight?"
My eyes lit up, "Of course I will.
He smiled, "Great, I will pick you up at seven." He kissed me again. "I suggest you dress up nicely. I'm taking you to one of my favorite restaurants."
"Hmmm, okay. Let me walk you out?"
"Yes, that would be nice. I should get dressed first." I just noticed that Loki was still naked and I blushed deeply, he chuckled at my blush. "You are adorable." He commented.
After locating his clothes, I walked Loki to the door. At the door he pulled me close and kissed me again. "I can't wait to see you tonight." He mumbled and I hummed in agreement.
"Me too, I really like you." This was all so new to me. I have never moved this fast with a guy, but it felt right with Loki.
"I like you too." His words had me smiling. "See you tonight?"
I nodded, "Yes." He kissed me once more before exiting my apartment. There was a huge smile on my face.
On the walk to the coffee shop, I just kept replaying my last 24 hours with Loki. They were amazing, and he made me feel truly loved. That damn smile would not leave my face the whole time. When I walked into the coffee shop, I spotted Tori already seated with our favorite drinks.
"There you are Lucy! I was beginning to worry about you." She stood up and pulled me into a tight hug.
"There is no need to worry about me, Tori. I'm a big girl." I assured her.
We sat down and she pushed my drink in front of me, "I know, but I still worry about you."
"Thank you, it means a lot to me." It was nice to have a friend who cared so much about me. I would be nowhere without Tori.
"You're welcome. Now tell me about this guy you took home?" She questioned.
Once again I was smiling like a fool. "Oh god Tori, he was great. Perfect, everything about him is perfect. He treated me like a queen."
"Oh god, Lucy. That sounds so wonderful. I'm glad you had a little fun for once. Now, how was he in bed?"
I rolled my eyes at my friend, "Why is that important?"
Tori laughed, "It just is, now spill."
"He was very good in bed. That is all I'm telling you." She really didn't need all the details of it.
"Okay, okay. Well I'm glad you let yourself out of your comfort zone for a one night stand. That is so unlike you Luce."
I shook my head, "Oh it's not a one night stand. I've agreed to meet him for dinner tonight." I said a little too quickly.
Tori looked confused, "Are you sure that is a good idea? Most guys that you meet at the club are complete creeps."
"Yes, this guy is different. He is so sweet and caring."
She didn't look sold, "I don't know. I think you should be careful."
"Tori, you know how cautious I am after my jerk of an ex. Trust me, I will be careful."
"Good. Well hey, hat least he isn't that crazy guy that tried to take over New York last year. What was his name? Loki?"
My heart nearly stopped. I shook away my shocked look, "Um yeah." God dammit, that is why Loki looks so familiar. God fucking dammit. I really like him too.
Tori eyed me, "I want to meet him, so I can tell him I will kill him if he breaks your heart."
I was still deep in thought, so I just nodded absentmindedly. Even after the realization that my Loki was indeed the guy who tried to take over New York last year, I wasn't repulsed. I just really wanted to talk to him, maybe get his side of the story or something. The Loki I met was nothing like the Loki they had described on the TV. My Loki was much kinder than what they described him to be like. Just maybe it had all been a misunderstanding.
"Lucy?" Tori questioned bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Yes?"
"I asked you where this guy is taking you for dinner. His choice of restaurant will tell a lot about him as a man."
"Oh, he didn't say. He just suggested that I dress up nicely." I smiled when I recalled our sweet morning.
Tori raised her eyebrows, "Hmmm, that sounds very promising. Maybe this guy is good after all."
I really didn't like the way she was judging Loki. Besides it was my life and I could choose who I wanted to go out with.
"Just please promise me that you will be careful tonight?"
"Yes Tori, I will be careful. I can assure you he has no ill intentions. This guy is genuinely sweet." She didn't look convinced.
"You barely know him, Lucy. He may seem nice right now, but that could change. So please take some precaution. I really don't want to hear you are dead in a ditch tomorrow morning."
"Oh come on Tori, that isn't going to happen." I looked down at my phone, trying to come up with a way to leave. "I need to get going. I want to clean my apartment before the date." I lied.
"Hmmm okay. Have fun on your date tonight." Tori said standing up when I stood up.
"Thanks I will. I'll text you sometime tomorrow." I said. She just nodded and we parted ways.
I went home to prepare for my date with Loki. I had decided I was going to ask him whether or not he had tried to destroy New York. Even if I already know it was him. There was no way you could convince me that Loki was evil. I honestly think he was misguided and I was going to listen to what he had to tell me.
It was quarter to seven and I was pacing my living room. I was so nervous about having to confront Loki about his past. I really liked him and I wasn't going to let his past get in the way of our future. I wanted a relationship with him.
I was startled out of my thoughts when there was a knock on the door. Taking a deep breath, I willed myself to open the door. Loki stood there looking handsome. I invited him in.
"Before we go, I have a few things to ask you about." I stated sitting down on the couch.
"What is it?" He asked sounding a bit concerned.
I sighed, "I went to lunch with my friend today and she brought up a very valid point. So basically want I want to know is, did you try to take over New York in the Battle of New York last year?" I said a little too quickly.
Loki looked stunned and stayed quiet for a couple of minutes. My guess was that he was trying to figure out what to tell me.
"Yes, that was me. I tried to take over New York last year and I feel regret for all of it. That is the reason why I have been exiled to Midgard with only minimal use of my powers." He admitted looking ashamed with himself. "I understand if you don't want to see me now. Actually I should probably go." He stood up and started walking towards the door but I shot up and ran over to block him from leaving.
I had made my decision about this way before I even knew that it was him and I was going to stick with it. "No, please don't leave Loki. I don't hate you, nor am I scared of you. I want to know your side of the story, know why you did all of it. I'm not going to run away from you like everyone else has."
Loki looked taken a back, "Really?" He looked like he was on the verge of tears.
"Yes, I'm not going to judge you. I like you a lot. I'm not going to throw it away for something that happened in the past." He still looked unconvinced. "Please come sit back down and talk to me. I want to listen. I want to help you." I could tell Loki wasn't used to people helping him like this. He nodded and walked back over to the couch and took a seat. I took a seat beside him. "Talk to me Loki, tell me why you did it."
"At first I just wanted to prove to my father and brother that I was worthy of the throne. It all got messed up when I decided to fall into the abyss. I landed in some realm and the beings that inhabited the realm took advantage of my vulnerability and made everything so much worse. They began to control me, and they were controlling me when I landed on Midgard. They are the ones who wanted an all-out war, I just wanted to prove myself to my family." There were tears falling down his face and I felt so sad for him.
I leaned up and wiped the tears away, "Shhhh Loki. It's all over now. You are not the same man, you have changed. Things will be alright." I pulled him into my arms, despite the size difference.
"I lost my family over it. I lost my home. I am not welcomed there and I feel so lost because of it." I didn't see it before but Loki was broken from the events that happened last year.
I rubbed his back and held him even closer, "They will forgive you one day, Loki. I know it. You just have to be patient and work on proving that you have changed. I can help you, Loki. I want to help you."
He looked up at me, "You want to help me?"
"Yes. Like I said before, I like you a lot and I will do anything for you. You make me feel happy, Loki. Not many people can do that anymore, but you do. Together, we can make you family see that you have changed. Even if that means I will lose you in the end." I swallowed the lump in my throat when I said those words. I never wanted to lose him, but I knew when his family forgave him, he would leave. I would have to accept that.
Loki wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close, "Thank you, Lucy. No one has ever had faith in me. Everyone has been betting on me to fail." That was truly horrible. I had unfortunately been there with my past, so I knew how he was feeling. "Trust me, I won't be leaving anytime soon. If you are true to your word and you want to help me. Then I think we will be spending a lot more time together."
"That is fine with me." I said making him chuckle.
He pulled me into a kiss, "Good."
I suddenly remembered dinner. "What time were the reservations?"
"Oh, they were at 7:30, but it seems we just missed them." He said with realization, "I'll call them and see if we can still get a table." He said pulling out his cellphone and excusing himself to the kitchen.
A few minutes later, Loki returned with a frown on his perfect face. "I'm sorry, Lucy. They gave our table away and won't be able to fit us in tonight."
Instead of being upset, I just shrugged. "Oh well, it looks like we will be eating in tonight. I think I have the ingredients for pasta alfredo. How does that sound?"
"Sure, you're not upset with me?"
"Nope, not in the least. Now let's go get dinner started." I said bouncing up and heading towards the kitchen with Loki on my heels. I opened my fridge and took out the ingredients we would need and then continued my search into the pantry. Once I set all the ingredients on the counter, I turned to find Loki watching me intently. "Can I help you?"
Loki snapped out of his trance and smiled, "You look absolutely ravishing tonight. It is such a shame that I cannot take you out to show you off." He spoke stepping up and grabbing my waist pulling me close.
"That is such a shame, but you will just have to do it another night." I assured him.
He leaned closer, "You're going to let me take you out after tonight?" Why was he so surprised?
"Yeah, why not?"
"I was an absolute mess tonight and I made us miss our dinner reservation. Any woman would have gotten fed up already and tossed me to the streets."
I couldn't imagine someone doing that to him, "Well that is the thing. I am not like any other woman. I am different and I will never just toss you onto the streets. You don't deserve that kind of treatment."
Loki didn't look convinced, "Yes I do. I am a monster, Lucy. I have killed people and destroyed lives."
I sighed and pulled him into a kiss, stopping him from going on and degrading himself some more. "Loki, you are not a monster. Not to me at least. So please stop thinking like that."
"Hmmm, okay. I can try. Let's make dinner." He said pulling me into another kiss before letting go of me. I nodded and we started to cook dinner together. We had a lot of fun. There was a lot of laughing and kissing. It was perfect.
After dinner and after the kitchen had been cleaned up, Loki and I retired to the couch, snuggling up to watch a movie. I loved how domestic the whole night had been. It was like a slice of heaven to me. I hadn't felt this normal in a long time. This was odd because I knew Loki was anything but normal. I don't know why he made me feel so normal, but I loved it.
While we were watching another movie, I could tell Loki was getting tired. When I felt his head drop onto my shoulder, I looked over to find Loki asleep. I smiled at the sight. He looked so peaceful when he was asleep. I figured I should probably get him to my bed, where it was a lot comfier for him.
I turned off the TV and lightly shook him, "Come on Loki. I am taking you to bed." I whispered rousing him from his sleep.
"Oh, did I fall asleep?" He mumbled rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
I chuckled, "Yes you did, so let's get you to my bed." I stood up and took his hand, leading him to my bed. He lazily pulled off his clothes until he was left in his boxers. I helped him get into bed.
"I am sorry for falling asleep on you, I had so much more planned for us tonight." He whispered as his eyes began to close.
I kissed his cheek, "Shhh, get some sleep. You are very tired." Loki was absolutely worn out and I wanted to know why. That would have to wait though. Once I saw that Loki was asleep, I walked away to get ready for bed myself. Once I had changed into my pajamas, I got into bed with Loki. As I was snuggling up next to him, he sleepily reached over and pulled me into his arms. I couldn't help but to think, this is how things should be. I was falling way too hard for him.
