The hummer my dad had bought me seemed small compared to the mansion. I pulled into the drive way. I kind of wished that I had Geo-leaped but then I couldn't have brought my new baby. I saw mom's car along with a blue mustang which I guess was Bree's.
I climbed out of my baby, grabbed my stuff, and preceded into the house that was filled with people who had cause me great pain….
Chapter 2
Bree's POV
Today's the day! I couldn't stop bouncing through the room. After two years Leo had finally decided to come home. None of us had heard from him, except for Tasha, but it was always short. Leo had left to his dad's house and refused to come back. Tasha had to go over to visit him, for he would not step in the house. It crushed Tasha every time she returned home. Chase, Adam, and I had begun to lose hope of ever seeing our brother again until last week when Tasha came running in with a giant smile.
Flashback
"What is going on?" Davenport asked trying not to laugh at his energetic wife.
"Leo is coming home!" she bounced. Joy consumed me as I began to cheer with Tasha.
"When?" Chase asked. Nobody could stop smiling at the thought of having Leo back.
"Next week. His dad is leaving to Germany to work out some issues. His travels will last about two years, so Leo will be staying with us to finish high school." I could hear the rapture in her voice at the thought of having her baby boy back.
"I need to go shopping!" Tasha stated before prancing out of the room.
"Yay! Leo is coming home!" I cheered.
"Finally, we will be able to have someone else to talk to about our bionics again." Chase said. For the passing two years Chase had only changed slightly. After Leo had left he had focused on nothing but school. I think this was the first time he sounded truly happy.
"Yes, and I can make fun of him!" Adam added. Most people would probably be concerned yet all knew he was harmless. "I hope he is still so small."
"Adam, it's been two years. He has most likely grown." Davenport reminded. Adam looked really confused.
"But it's been four years and Chase has remained pocket sized." Adam laughed.
"Hey!" Chase yelled. I fell down laughing as I enjoyed the interaction between the two. This was a rarity for we had all felt horrid after Leo had left. What made it worse was that Marcus had moved away also That was the worst time in our lives for we lost both our brother and our friend. Now that Leo was coming back, everything was looking better.
End Flashback
We were all waiting for Leo to arrive. There was an hour before school and we were all walking on egg shells. Nobody wanted Leo to feel uneasy for we didn't want to lose him again. A door slammed outside and Tasha ran out the front. A squeak echoed from outside all the way back into the house. A couple minutes passed in suspense before Tasha appeared with a man behind her…
He looked like Leo yet he was pure muscle and stood at 6'1. No longer was Leo a boy, but a full grown man.
"Leo?" Davenport asked. His jaw almost down to the floor. "Is that you?"
"Hey, Mr. Davenport." Leo greeted slightly coldly. I was slightly taken back yet I understood. He no longer felt us as family.
"Welcome Home!" I said then ran at him. I wrapped my arms around him. He laughed and hugged me back, yet I knew he wasn't putting his all into it. His voice was low, but some of the old Leo was coming back. Chase and Adam ran into the hug also. It almost felt like old times.
"Are you ready to go to school?" Tasha asked. "You don't have too if you don't want to. I mean, you could stay home with me and relax."
"I would like to go to school. I can't get behind in my studies." Leo stated. "I just need to put my stuff in my room." He grabbed his rucksack and headed towards his old room.
"He has defiantly changed…." Adam stated with a confused look.
"I think that is the smartest thing you have ever said." Chase added. This man was not the same Leo Dooly. The old Leo would have run in with a giant smile on his face while also welcoming any chance to stay home. Something had changed, and I did not know if it was for good.
Leo's POV
"He has defiantly changed…." I heard Adam say. This caused me to laugh. If only they knew how much I had changed. Once I got to my room, I noticed that the furniture had changed.
"Of course…" I sighed. Any chance my mother had to go shopping, she would take it. A small chuckle escaped my lips as I remembered when Bree wanted her own room. I always felt sad when I remembered the old days for it always led back to that Horrid night.
My phone buzzing brought me back from my memories. I set everything down to grab the vibrating alarm. A smile spread on mh face seeing that it was from my dad.
It is clear… was all it said. I looked towards the clock. I had enough time before they would check on me. A light feeling spread across my body as my molecules scattered. Most would think that it would hurt, but it was very relaxing.
"How was the reunion?" Dad asked. I smiled at him as I gave him a quick hug. It was his idea for me to stay with my mother. My bionics would have become an issue here.
"Hi, dad. It's fine. They know that something is different but they can't seem to figure it out." I said. I took me a quick second to inspect the area. The room was huge with three exits. One exit was two giant door that led to a balcony. The view of Berlin was amazing.
"That's good. That they have noticed just as long as they don't figure it out." He got very quiet as he spoke. "I know that things would become different for you, yet maybe it would be a good thing."
"No," I stated. Dad had been trying to get me to tell mom at least, but I refused. I had tried to tell them once but they didn't believe me.
"Ok," Dad sighed. "At least that quack won't be experimenting on you." I laughed at his dislike of Davenport. A sudden beeping erupted from my wrist.
"It's time to go," Dad said sadly. "Come and visit often." I nodded, gave him one last hug, and left home. A knock on my door gave me a quick shock. In a blink of an eye I changed into a lon sleeved dark blue thermal and light blue ripped up jeans. I shifted myself onto the bed to slowly put on my shoes as Davenport opened the door.
"Hey Leo, Bree wanted to know if you wanted to ride with them?" he asked. The look on his face was that of confusion as if he was expecting something else
"No thanks….what's wrong?" I asked. It's not possible for him to have seen my leap or rushing around, so it had to be something else.
"Nothing, I'm just not use to your new room…" he said.
"Oh, ok." I said as I grabbed my school bag. "Thanks for letting me stay her Mr. Davenport." He looked saddened by my use of his manicure. I stopped using his nicknames when I lived with Dad.
"It's not a problem," he tried to not mention anything, but I knew he wanted to say something. "This is your home also Leo, and if you need to talk about anything I am here."
"Yeah , I'll remember that," I didn't mean to sound so irate , but I guess it came out that way. He slightly flinched backwards.
"Leo…" I quickly put on the old dippy smile that came in handy when I needed a façade.
"I need to head to school." I stated and walked out passed Davenport. He looked like he really wanted to stop me, but he didn't move. I reached the front door before my mother could catch me, but hey, if I really wanted to out run them I could. Not even Bree could keep up with me now.
I walked out to see Bree, Chase, and Adam in awe with my baby. I couldn't help but laugh at their reaction. For having a millionaire for a father they couldn't purchase one of these. They were military grade only. If it wasn't for my father's many years of service I would never be able to get one.
"Do you guys want to ride with me?" I asked. Without an answer Bree ran to the front seat with Adam whining as he climbed in behind her and Chase getting in behind me. I jumped in quickly and took off towards the school.
"Leo?" Bree asked after a couple minutes of silence.
"Huh…"
"It's really good to have you back." She smiled. Both Chase and Adam agreed.
"I'm glad." I said. It was good to be back, but it would always feel false. I could never really feel at home here for they no longer knew me, nor I them. The drive went by quickly with the asking me a multitude of questions; such as: did you like staying with your dad, what was the school like, did I make new friends, etc. I answered quickly and very vaguely. Dad and I didn't want them to think anything different of me. As long as they thought me a normal human then I was safe.
When we got to the school I noticed that nothing had changed. I mean, seriously, nothing had changed. I parked near the front with the students in awe of the hummer. Adam, Bree, and Chase walked on either sides of me, as we walked in. Some faces, I knew, while others were new.
"This place hasn't changed at all. It's just an old tomb for students to walk in." I said out loud.
"Yep, the only thing new is the 'media' center. It's just a room with an old television in it." Chase said snarky.
"I have to go get my schedule and locker." I said as I moved away from the group. "I'll see you at lunch." They bid me goodbye as I made my way to the office.
"Who are you?" the woman in the front office asked.
"Leo Dooly. I'm here for my schedule and locker." I gave her my heart stopping smile that I had developed over the years. She stuttered as she handed me my class list. "Thank you." I said as I walked out. All of my classes were A.P. levels, and my locker was in the senior hall. I quickly found it and placed my bag inside. The final bell rang out as I finished putting my stuff away.
"Hey YOU!" That voice…I still hated that voice. "Why aren't you in class!" Principal Perry waddled over towards e. She still looked like a pit-bull in a suite but with more gray hairs.
"I'm on my way," I stated before walking to my next class.
"HEY! I'm not done with you! Who are you?" she demanded.
"Leo Dooly." I answered with a bored tone. She looked taken back.
"Dooly? What are you doing back? I thought we were done with seeing your mug!"
"The only person with a mug is you." I snapped back. "And I am here to finish my last year."She looked shocked at my cold persona.
"Ok…get to class Dooly." She stuttered before waddling off.
"Things defiantly never change." I thought as I walked towards A.P. Government. There were a few people in the class, but I noticed Chase sitting in the front row. The teacher looked up and ushered me towards her side.
"Class this is Leo Dooly." She smiled. I gave a quick wave then headed to the back of the room. Chase looked confused as to why I was here, but he turned back to the board.
"Now class, I have decided to start the semester off with something pretty easy. Who can recite the amendments, and the different levels of the government?" Chase's hand shot up, but the teacher looked towards me.
"Leo, since I have never had you, can you answer?" I looked at Chase who had a smug look on his face; however, the look soon faded into one of shock as I answered everything. What would have taken Chase about ten minutes, took me less than five. Everyone was is awe when I finished.
"Thank you Mr. Dooly," the teacher continued. Chase looked suspiciously at me like he was trying to figure out how I did it. I hid a chuckle for I knew that he would never figure it out.
Later…
I waited for Bree, Adam, and Chase in the front of the school. I heard Bree chatting with Katelyn, Chase was playing chess, and Adam was eating left over hot dogs. This was the perfect time to call dad.
Hello
"General," I laughed.
Leo! I told you…he sighed.
"Yeah, yeah. How is it going?"
Better, but not perfect. Tonight we can train.
"Ok." I smiled.
How was your first day?
"Good, but Chase got annoyed with me…"
Remember to dumb it down Leo. This caused me to laugh.
"I know. I'll come get you tonight."
Ok. Bye Leo
"Bye Dad." I ended the call right as Chase got to the car.
"Hey Leo," he greeted. I heard a suspicious undertone.
"Chase…" I knew he wanted to ask me something but Adam and Bree got in.
"Let's go! I have to get home before I miss my shows." Adam shouted. I pulled out and began to drive home. It felt more like flying but I didn't hear any complaints. We pulled up and Adam jumped out before we had fully stopped.
"Idiot…" Bree and Chase said together.
"Leo, what are you doing tonight?" Chase asked.
"I'm going to the gym for a couple hours." I stated.
"How come?" Bree asked. "Davenport has a gym in the house." A gym that had cameras everywhere.
"It's something me and dad did and since I still have a membership, why not use it." I laughed.
"Ok," Chase stated. "See you tonight." Bree and Chase hopped out. I pulled out and drove towards my home.
No POV
It had been three hours since Leo had left. Adam, Bree, and Chase sad in the lab.
"He went to the gym?" Adam asked again. This was the seventh time Chas had explained it.
"Yes," Chase groaned.
"But…he use to be so tiny…."
"Use to be….that is the phrase. He has grown up into a colder version of himself." Bree stated.
"And defiantly smarter," Chase added. "He is in all of my A.P. classes and beast me to an answer." Bree and Adam gasped.
"I know right!"
"How is that possible?" Adam asked.
"I don't know," Chase couldn't answer. Davenport interrupted.
"Where is Leo?" Davenport asked.
"At the gym," all three answered.
"Really? But we have one here."
"Yep," Bree popped.
"Well, after meeting his father it's understandable." He shrugged, but then he noticed the time. "For three hours?"
"We were just talking about how much Leo has changed." Chase stated.
"What do you mean?" Davenport asked.
"He is smarter than Chase." Adam stated. This caused Davenport to drop the new force field he was developing.
"WHAT!" he screeched.
"He is not smarter…"Chase pouted. "Just quicker."
"How could he do that?" Bree questioned.
"I don't know, but I think it is time to find out," Davenport said. "It's time to figure out what has happened to Leo…"
