When the Doctor reached the location indicated by the scanner, he was…disappointed. Only a bit though. The door he stood in front of looked completely ordinary; just a boring, brown, basic door. Well, except for the knob, which appeared to be made of glass and was actually quite pretty.

The Doctor reached for the knob, then paused. For some reason, he felt that he needed to knock. Knock, to enter a room on his TARDIS. How absurd!

He thought on it for a moment. Whatever's in there has power, and a lot of it. If I just barge in there, it could cause damage to the TARDIS or me. But if I knock, it might prepare itself for attack when I enter... Both options were not ideal, due to him not knowing if the energy source was friend, foe, or even sentient! Maybe I should jus-, KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK The Doctor's thoughts were interrupted by a sudden knocking from the other side of the door.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! Again, three knocks.

"H-hello?" a hesitant voice asked. A child? Possibly a small girl. "Is anyone there? It's dark in here….the only light is from under the door…" the child sounded frightened, making the Doctor's hearts twinge. He had always had a soft spot for children. The Time Lord decided to answer,"Um. One moment." He mentally slapped himself. Couldn't he have come up with something a bit more intelligent or at least more impressive than, "Um."? He decided that those words had never happened. Moving on, he thought. "I'm going to open the door now, alright?"

There was a shaky intake of breath slightly muffled by the door, "O-okay."
