Chapter Three
Lost
Hai there guys, Star here again. So...I guess I has some explaining to do...You know, because I haven't published anything since September. I had a lot of personal stuff going on that caused a bunch of, 'problems' for me. Unfortunately, I will not elaborate on those problems. Sowwy...I know I really should, but I can't. So yii, I'm back now, and I'll hopefully be writing a lot more in the next few months. So, I hope you guys enjoy this new chapter! Again, sorry for the wait. 3 xoxo-Star
When I woke up again in the morning, I was all alone. Slowly, I sat up in my bed, looking around for any sign of one of the guys. There was nothing. I leaned back against one of my pillows, reaching a hand up to my head. I realized that the bandage was no longer wrapped around my forehead. It was replaced by a smaller bandage over the apparent wound itself. The pain was also much less, although I couldn't tell if it was because of the painkiller or because it was actually healing.
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes. I wondered when I would be able to go and see Hikaru...I wondered if he was even still...No, I couldn't think like that. I had to believe that he would stay alive. He was part of our family at the host club. I couldn't imagine a life without him.
Suddenly, I heard the door creak open and softly tap the wall. I opened my eyes, looking up to see one of my nurses. She smiled when she saw that I was sitting up. She wheeled a table into the room, topped with a plate of eggs.
"Good to see that you're awake, Miss Fujioka. Is your head feeling any better?" she asked me, wheeling it over to my bedside. The smell of it made me practically drool. How long had it been since I had actually eaten something that didn't come out of a tube?
"Yeah, much better actually. I'm just a little bit dizzy, that's all. But it's fine." I replied, aching just to eat the food at that very moment. She nodded, removing the clipboard from the foot of my bed and scribbling something down.
"Yes, well that's to be expected. You lost a lot of blood from your head when you fell." she replied, lowering the clipboard. "Your friends are waiting outside. After you eat, I can allow them to come in if you'd like." she said. I nodded.
"That'd be good. Thanks." I replied. She nodded once again, then turned out of the room. I instantly lifted the plate, clearing off the entire thing in no more than five minutes. Then, I slowly drank the water that she had placed on the tray as well. After I had finished, I pressed the button that would call the nurse in. She looked down at my plate, laughing.
"Hungry, were you? That didn't take very long." she said. I blushed, looking down. She cleared the dishes from my room, then went to get the guys. The first to enter was Tamaki, who ran to my bedside, taking my hand and squeezing it so hard I was sure that it would fall off due to lack of circulation.
"Haruhi, Daddy was so worried about you! Are you feeling better? Did you eat? Does your head hurt? Are you dizzy at all? Are you okay? Haruhi?!" he demanded, his violet eyes pleading with me. Kyoya walked over, taking his shoulder and gently moving him back.
"Your constant idiotic questions will cause her head to hurt even more, Tamaki. Now let go of her hand, It's turning white." he said. Tamaki blushed, releasing his death grip on my hand. Kyoya and Tamaki were the only ones to enter. Obviously seeing my confusion, Kyoya answered my unspoken question. "Honey and Mori were exhausted, so they had to go home. Kaoru isn't leaving Hikaru's bedside." he said. I nodded.
"Is Hikaru..." I asked, my question trailing off. At my words, Tamaki's face instantly grew more distant, and Kyoya developed a subtle look of sadness.
"Well, he's still alive, if that's what you mean. He still hasn't woken up." Kyoya replied, pushing up his glasses. I looked down, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
"Haruhi, you just have to keep faith in him. That's all we can do at this point." Tamaki said, surprisingly serious, resting a hand on my shoulder. I nodded, not meeting their gaze. The three of us sat in silence for a few minutes before Kyoya spoke again.
"Well, surely you want to know what's been going on for the past week that you've been unconscious." he said, standing from his position on the ground. I felt my eyes widen.
"It's been a week? I've been out for a week already?" I asked. He nodded, walking over to the wall and grabbing a chair. He pushed it to my bedside, sitting down.
"Yes, it's been a week. And a lot has been happening. For one thing, we've been forced to temporarily disband the host club. It is no longer considered a legitimate club at the school, at least until this has all blown over." he said. I looked up in shock.
"It's disbanded?!" I asked. He nodded solemnly. I looked to Tamaki, but I couldn't see his face. His eyes were downcast, and his blonde hair fell over them. Even if I couldn't see him, I could tell that he was crying. I wanted to cry too, but I wouldn't allow myself to. That club, as ridiculous as it was, had been a huge part of my life. I considered all of the guys family, and the fact that our club had disbanded...
"Also, I regret to say that your secret is out, Haruhi. One of the girls heard Hikaru call you a girl before the incident, and they have spread it around the school. Questions were raised, and now everyone knows that you're in fact a woman." Kyoya said. I brought my hands to my face. How could these things fall apart so quickly? So even if the club ever did get back together, I would never be allowed back? Things would never be normal again, though I suppose that was a given after the events of the past week.
"Haruhi, we tried everything...Really, we did...I'm so sorry..." Tamaki said, his voice strained with anguish. I looked up to see that tears had indeed stained his cheeks. I took a deep breath, voluntarily taking his hand. He looked down again, but lightly squeezed my hand.
"Finally, your father called and said that he would be back from his trip tomorrow. He tried to get home sooner, but his flight was delayed." Kyoya finished. I nodded, still too upset to say anything. Again, the room was silent.
"On the bright side, the nurse said that you would be able to go home after tonight. Your wounds have healed enough to the point where they feel you could be fine on your own. After your dad picks you up tomorrow, you'll be free to go." Tamaki said, squeezing my hand. I gave him a half-hearted smile.
The rest of the day mostly involved me being alone. Napping, staring at the wall, and napping again. Finally, night came again when I could finally go to sleep. I was asleep for what must have been about an hour when I suddenly woke up. When I did, I looked around frantically, wondering what had woken me up. When I did, I saw Kaoru. He smiled at me slightly, kneeling next to my bed.
"Hey Haruhi...Sorry, did I wake you up?" He asked me. I nodded, sliding up onto my pillows and rubbing my eyes.
"Yeah, but it's fine. I've been sleeping all day." I said. He looked down, letting his hair fall over his eyes.
"Still, I'm sorry. But I just wanted to tell you Hikaru's still doing fine. Or, not fine...But he's alive...I didn't want you to worry tonight." he said. I nodded, watching him carfully.
"Thanks Kaoru." I replied quietly. He stayed quiet for a few minutes, then he stood up, brushing the hair out of his face.
"I'll come in to visit you first thing tomorrow, okay? I'm sorry I didn't come by earlier...I've been with...Well, you know. Goodnight Haruhi." he said. I smiled sadly at him.
"Goodnight Kaoru."
