Chapter 3; Awkward situation

We walked into the cafeteria and I immediately see Chris tense beside me. There, in the middle of the cafeteria sits Uriah, his girlfriend Marleen and her best friend Lynn.

I have never really been friends with Lynn or Marleen but I always greeted them in the halls and I often saw Lynn at The Pit and held a very high respect for the first openly gay kid in our school.

Uriah, smile brightening upon seeing Christina, rushes towards us without as much as a glance from Marleen. Maybe if she knew what I knew she would hold on to him a bit more firmly.

Chris grabs him and pulls him into the hall, presumably to give him the biggest shock of his life.

With nothing better to do I go and plop down next to Marleen who immediately strikes up a conversation. The entire time she's speaking I can't help but notice the look Lynn gives her. A look of love.

Just as I'm thinking this Uriah walks into the room, his usually happy face pressed into a hard, all too serious line. That's his breakup face.

Marleen gives him a questioning look. "Babe what's going on?"

He puts an arm on her shoulder, as if to say I think you already know. He speaks in a calm even tone. "I'm really sorry Mar, I am! It's just I don't think that it's right you be in a relationship where we lie to each other."

She looks shocked, then she nods her head. "I knew you would have to find out eventually, I'm just sorry that it wasn't from me."

Now Uriah's the shocked one. "What are you talking about?"

Mar looks at him like he's crazy "You're dumping me because of my cheating on you with Lynn."

Uriah backs up, now totally confused. "No, I'm leaving you because I cheated on you once with Christina. You cheated on me with Lynn?"

Lynn, most likely tired of being spoken about like she wasn't in the room, rolls her eyes and speaks. "Why don't just agree to stay friends and only friends, and go away 'cause I think Trissy here would like to go and get some lunch."

I smile and nod my head, grabbing Uriah's arm and heading out when I realize something. "Hey Uri, Where's Chrissy?"

When we near the Library we here shouts that I can make out when I get closer.

"I'm sorry Will I just don't feel the same anymore." Definitely Christina

"BUT I STILL LOVE YOU!" And I guess we know how Will's taking it.

Just then Chris runs out of the room and we run after her. "You know something Tris?" Uriah asks, "He took it much better than I thought, if I were in that position I don't think I'd let her get away."

I just laugh and savor every not baby themed conversation I can have with him. This may be our last.
