Author's note- thanks to fanimegamefanatic for writing prompts. Miguel has run off and his parents are close behind him. They hadn't meant to make him feel like they'd hate him for being a music lover.
This was supposed to be a day for celebration, and above all for family. Some mother Lydia was, She had driven off her own son by pure accident. She never meant any harm at all. It's just that Miguel loves music and She….well She just didn't due to teachings from her own mother. It's not that Lusia never gave music a try at all, because she had. Several times growing up and after a while of things being destroyed she gave up on the silly notion. Plus the Rivera family have been shoemakers for so long that ,having someone love music again was almost taboo.
It made the family think back to when Hector choice it over his own family and almost destroyed it completely. And that's how Lusia felt now. She felt she had destroyed her family.
Now Enrique wasn't much of a music player himself. He could never strum a guitar or even make one for that matter. He had tried in vane to stop Miguel's abuelita. Enrique could see how much hard work his son had put into the guitar and he couldn't help but feel that maybe if his son had spent that much time on shoes, then they wouldn't be in this mess right.
The minute Miguel took off both parents dropped what they were doing and took off after him. They asked several people if they'd seen Miguel and everyone they asked pointed to the cemetery. "It'll be better if we split up and can find him quicker." Enrique suggested and his wife agreed. She stayed on the eas side of the cemetery and slowly worked her way westward. While Enrique started at the west side of the cemetery and worked his way Eastard.
"Miguel!" Lusia called out desperately to her son. She felt heartbroken when he took off on them crying. "Excuse me. Have you seen Miguel at all?" Lusia asked a loyal customer of the river shoe shop. "Afraid not dear." The elderly woman replied back softly grabbing her granddaughter by the hand. Lusia covered her mouth some to keep a sob from escaping her lips.
But she wasn't about to give up at all. She sniffles again looking at the Monument to De la Cruz. Part of her hoped that maybe Miguel would be in there. She slowly made her way to the window and peered inside seeing no one at all. Sighing she walked away from it to continue her search. She looked at her grave marker and asked every other person if they had seen her son.
She came back with the same result time and time again, no Miguel.
Enrique didn't have much better luck either. He checked ever possible hiding spot for his boy and wound up empty handed everytime.
"Did you find him?" Lusia asked softly walking over to her husband. "No." Lusia began to softly crying , and Enrique pulled her close. "Don't worry love we will find him and if not he knows his way home." "I don't he will ever want to come back. We were so harsh to him. I'm afraid he run off because he is a music lover and he…" Lusia stopped suddenly her foggy mind making her realize something she hadn't even considered before. "Lusia…" Enrique said gently to get his wife's attention again.
"Enrique our boy is a music lover." Lusia said softly sniffling some. "Yes I know. We can get him to see he doesn't need music to be happy. He has his whole family." Enrique said smiling and not getting a smile in return. "No Enrique. No. He is a music lover and we are music haters. So if we hate music then our boy thinks we hate him." Lusia said her voice cracking at the end.
"Hate him, for loving music? I could never hate my own child for such a thing." Enrique said seriously and Lusia nodded her head in agreement.
"Let's check the De la Cruz memorial." Enrique said simply. "I already did, and I didn't see him. "Yes but you can only see so far my love, I can see further than you can." Enrique said giving Lusia slight hope that maybe they'd find their son. The sue walked hand in hand calling Miguel's name. Enrique's voice louder than Lusia's.
"He's not there." Enrique said softly turning to Lusia. "I promise we will find him and we will bring him home where he belongs." Enrique promised pulling Lusia close for a much needed hug. "I just want my boy home. That's all. Is that too much to ask?" Lusia asked aloud. "It's not Lusia. It's not." Enrique said rubbing his wife's back comfortingly. "Come love this isn't good for our future little Rivers here. Let's go home. We can relook for Miguel along the way." Enrique said firmly.
Lusia sniffled nodding her head some. The due walked slowly looking down every back road as they went along. The whole time Miguel's words haunted Lusia. Families are suppose to support each other but you never will. Lusia feared those would be the last words her boy would ever speak. "No miguel…." Lusia shook her head no sniffling some and heading inside to sit down. Enrique joined her to comfort his wife.
"Is it too much to ask for Miguel to show up tomorrow afternoon, alive and well. I fear our son might be hurt Enrique or worse dead." Lusia said looking up at Enrique. "Have faith Lusia. Our boy is perfectly fine. Remember how good he was at hiding at only three." Enrique said smiling fondly at the memory. "I recall it took us a good four hours just to find him." Lusia said chuckling softly at the memory as well.
"Now don't worry. Our boy will be home alive and well before we know it. For all we know he could be on his way back now." Enrique said keeping a positive tone. "You're right. He probably is by now." Lusia said rubbing at her eyes some.
Enrique kissed his wife lovingly and then walked back outside to finish his outdoor chores.
Miguel come home safe. Please. Just come home safe. Lusia prayed sadly grabbing a book hoping that would help ease her troubled conscious.
