Brian's POV
After the woman - Amelie - dismissed us with the guy - Myrnin - he started walking quite quickly and we had a little trouble keeping up with him. He has very long legs and is quite tall. He did say something about feeding on us, so maybe walking this fast keeps his mind off of it; or maybe that is his normal walking speed.
"Come on, children! I can't keep stopping and waiting for you to catch up. I haven't fed Bob this morning he will be hungry." Myrnin said. He snapped me out of my thoughts with his voice.
"You have a pet?" I asked.
"Yes. You can see him if you hurry up." Myrnin said.
At this time, Kayleigh spoke up. "Well maybe if you slowed down we could catch up. Just because you are tall doesn't mean you have to walk so fast." Myrnin groaned and mumbled something. He stopped and looked back at us, waiting for us to catch up. We did eventually. We hadn't left the building yet and I took this chance while Myrnin waited for us.
The ceilings were high and the windows were either heavily tinted or curtained. The material looked thick and heavy. The walls were painted white to make the room seem brighter and happier. The carpet is a burgundy red colour with a roll of light blue carpet against the wall. The carpet is flat from the feet of people but the edges still look fluffy.
Myrnin started walking and I had to cut off from the sightseeing.
We carried on walking for a bit until we got to a house that looked the same as the others I had passed; huge, Victorian looking houses with an A symbol on the them. Myrnin went down a dim alley and opened a faded white door that looked like it needed a fresh coat of paint and some oil on its hinges from the loud squeaking.
"My feet hurt." Kayleigh said, or rather complained.
"If there is a chair anywhere, you can sit down." I said. We descended the stairs leading to a dim lab is a table that has bubbling liquid in vials there are bookcases that reach up to the ceiling and are packed with books. Some are stacked against the bookcases and most are dusty, There is a wooden chair with a used to be white lab coat that had what looked like chemical stains on and it was slung over a chair.
"There's a chair. You can sit down on that, Kay." I said to Kayleigh pointing to the chair. "So, Myrnin..." I started and trailed off and turned around. Myrnin seemed to have disappeared.
"I have made my bed which one of you can sleep in," Myrnin said his voice making us jump. My sister yelped and jumped up and reached under the cost and held up a very sharp looking circular saw. Myrnin's face brightened. "Oh that's where it was. Thank you very much for finding it." He said and took it off her and walked off to the table and put it on there next to the bubbling liquid which I didn't think was very safe.
I decided to start conversation. "So Myrnin. What do you do all day?" I asked politely. Politeness is key to good first impressions.
"Well I have my assistant Claire around to work for me," Myrnin began. "I feed Bob, morning, afternoon and night if I didn't feed him at afternoon and I check in on my old friend. Oh and I play with Ollypop to quell my boredom and amuse myself then-"
My sister cut Myrnin off. "Who's Bob?"
"My pet would like to meet him?" Myrnin asked. Kayleigh nodded, following Myrnin around a corner. "Here he is. Bob say hello to your new visitor." Then I heard Kayleigh scream and run back to me.
"What what's wrong? What has he got?" I asked.
"He's got a freaking arachnid!" She screamed. Sadly me and Kayleigh are more or less the same size so she happened to scream down my ear which is a problem as I happen to want to preserve my hearing and not go deaf at an early age.
"He won't hurt you!" Myrnin called as he came out with his pet. In his hand (I can't believe he is holding it) a huge arachnid. Oh she wasn't lying then. She tends to lie to get attention. I shivered and attempted to quell the urge to scream. Kayleigh kept hiding behind me.
"I- I'm going outside." I said. "I need air." I said and walked up the stairs and through the door and outside.
"Hey don't leave me with him!" Kayleigh's voice came from down below. I heard her but I didn't go back down to her. I couldn't go back down their with Myrnin's 'pet'. I have a severe phobia of them and I just manage to stop myself from dropping down dead if I am ever unlucky to come across one. I shiver again but not from the cold. Not fully anyway it is getting cold.
I started walking through the streets and my mind went back to the crash; the screech of the wheels, the screams, the barks from our dog then blackness. Then the sounds replayed again like on repeat. Then my mother's and father's faces appeared and I fought back tears. Our dog had survived and we had survived so why not our parents? I felt angry at the driver who had been stupid enough to get behind the wheel while intoxicated. The images and sounds kept repeating themselves in my mind until a scream cut through my thoughts.
So here is the chapter I hope you liked it! Please leave a review and I promise I will update more often! (More action next chapter!)
