Olivia had spent the first two weeks working on the campaign night and day. There'd been so much to do to get the campaign working harder. She fought every day with Fitz about every little thing there was to fight about. They fought about his image, what he needed to say, what he should be doing, when he should move to the next spot. Mellie started to grow on Liv, becoming friends quickly. Whenever Fitz and Olivia fought, Mellie tried to play the middle man and get the two to get along and come up with a solution. Olivia had gone several days with very little sleep and it was starting to take effect. She'd started to get easily annoyed with everyone around her.

Cyrus sat with Olivia in the hall after another of her and Fitz's fight over the next campaign event.

"So you want to tell me what's really going on?" he asked her.

"You cannot have an event at a church and talk about gay marriage and abortion. It's just not right. And it's what Sally wants. Do it at a high school gymnasium or a park. A church is her territory. It's where she says what she does and has the voice of God in her ear," Liv ranted.

"That's the reason that you're fighting with him. How about what is bothering you?"

"Nothing is bothering me, Cy. Your candidate needs to listen to what is being said instead of having his head so far up his own ass. He's got to get with the program. Governor Grant is the voice of California. He wants to be the voice of America and right now, America isn't listening to what he's selling. He's wasting all of our time. Grant doesn't want this. He thinks he does but he's not working for it. It doesn't work like that."

"I'll talk to him, okay?"

Olivia agreed and pulled out her ringing cell phone. "I have to answer this. Go take care of his bull shit and I'll be back soon." Liv stepped outside to answer her phone. "Edison, how are you?"

"You've missed three chemo sessions. I thought we agreed that you were going to fly back for them, back to New York and yet you are still in… where are you today?" Edison asked in a hurry.

"Has everyone lost the appropriate way of a conversation? Hi, how are you? I'm fine, and you? Fine, doing good, glad to hear from you."

"Excuse me, my fiancé is dying and I want to get to the point. Hi, how are you, Liv?"

Liv smirked hearing him calm down. "I'm okay. How's it going there?"

"When are you coming back? I have something important I need to tell you. I'd like to do it in person."

"Edison, I already know."

"You know? Know about what?"

"My eyes and ears are always around, Edison. Huck told me."

She could hear him take a deep breath in slow and then let it out. "So now he's going to shoot me? The protector of the Olivia Pope will cut off my knees… or worse?"

"If it would make you feel better, I'll send him to do that."

"Liv, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for anything to happen. It just did. I like her, possibly even love her. And she's pregnant. And you said you didn't want to have kids. She's sort of like you. She's invested in her work but wants a family too."

"Our relationship isn't what it used to be. Since we found out about my… it's just not the same anymore. We aren't the same people we were when we got engaged. Things changed. I'm not blaming you. A lot of this is me."

"So what are we doing?"

"We're breaking up. Our engagement is over and that's it."

Both were silent for several minutes just listening to the other breathe, waiting for someone to say something.

"When are you coming back to New York?"

"I'll be there next week for my appointment."

"Please don't forget about it. Are you taking your medication? You haven't had any new symptoms have you?"

"Edison, don't worry about me. Between Stephen, Abby, Harrison, and Huck, I'm very well taken care of. We're over, so you need to move on."

"Alright, you're right, I know, but I still care. Will you keep me posted?"

"Sure, I'll let you know.

"Thanks, and Liv?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry I wasn't a match for the bone marrow."

Olivia hung up before she said anything else. Before she slid down the wall, Mellie ran up and hugged her tight, which only made her want to cry a little more.

"Where'd that damn woman go!" both Olivia and Mellie could hear Fitz screaming as he came outside. "Are you crying, Ms. Pope? My God, are you seriously crying about a fight that we've had for the past three days! Get over it, grow a set and move on."

Before he turned away, Mellie gave him the most evil look that she had ever given him. If only looks would kill, he'd surely be ten feet under.

"Fitzgerald! She just broke up with her fiancé, have some compassion. Not everything is about you. Go throw your hissy fit somewhere else," Mellie ordered taking Olivia up to her room.

She unlocked the door to Olivia's hotel room and sat on the couch with her until she calmed down.

"I'm so sorry that my husband is being an ass Liv. Usually he's very nice with the people who work for him, or with him. I don't understand what his problem is with you. You aren't a hidden Democrat are you?" she joked instantly making Olivia laugh. "He's just so rude sometimes."

"You don't need to apologize for him Mellie. He's his own person and has his own issues with me. If he wants to have it out, he knows where to find me."

"But he doesn't need to be so… controlling. Not everything is in his power. He needs to listen to you. You know what you're doing. You fix things, and he's like breaking it now. I need your help Liv, fix this campaign and let's get back to work."

Fitz went around the conference room seeing how things were going with different groups. Cyrus spotted him across the room and pulled him to the hall.

"I don't know what your problem is with the girl I hired to fix this campaign, but you better stop your damn fighting with her. Next time, I won't be so easy to play the middle. She's doing me a big favor being here. Olivia's left her work and her fiancé to come help you out."

"You mean the fiancé that just dumped her ass that she's crying about with my wife? That one?"

"What the hell do you mean they broke up? She hasn't talked to him in a few weeks."

"Wow, and you called her a communication expert? Doesn't seem like she knows her shit too well."

"Fitzgerald Thomas Grant the third, I swear to God, if you do not start making nice with Olivia Pope I WILL quit this campaign and destroy you with it. And I'll take Mellie with me."

"Fine, Cyrus, fine, I will make nice with Ms. Pope starting tomorrow. Is that good enough?"

"Good, now head to bed, we have a lot of things to cover tomorrow."
