"You took advantage of me. You knew what you were doing."
Those two sentences hit her hard. Hard. She shook her head, her words rendering useless at this point.
"I didn't. You have to believe me." She cried, squeezing the positive test in her hand as hard as she could.
"I don't buy it for one second, Bels."
His words stung. She should have mentioned the fact that she missed a few pills, but it just didn't cross her mind. It was an innocent mistake. She figured that he would know her well enough to know that she would never pull something like this. She would never betray him like that. His words stung, but what stung just as much was the fact that he didn't know her well enough to know she would never do this. Hurt, she looked down and wiped her tears with her free hand. She stood in front of him, feeling humiliated. She was deep in her thoughts, debating on whether to leave or stay and have this conversation.
"You wanted to trap me." He added, his angry eyes burning a hole through her.
She looked up at him, disgusted to be hearing the things she was. She tried to scream, but failed. Her voice was broken, along with her heart. It was weak. It was frail.
"I can't believe that you think so little of me." She whispered, her eyes meeting his.
"We'll discuss what to do with it later." He said coldly, completely avoiding her comment.
She couldn't believe the things coming out of his mouth. She couldn't believe this was the same man she was in love with. She couldn't believe that every sentence that left his lips only became more vile and disgusting.
"It?" She questioned, her voice barely audible.
She didn't know what the best approach was at this point.
"This is your baby too." She breathed out, the tears still streaming down her face.
She moved closer to him, gently cupping his face in her small hands. "There has to be the smallest part of you that feels something. This was out of love. You have to feel something. Please, tell me you do." She spoke softly, biting her lip to hold back her sobs for a second. She looked into his eyes, searching for her answer in them. She was practically begging him at this point.
He grabbed onto her wrists, roughly moving them away from his face.
He didn't speak. He stared back into her eyes. There was no warmth. There was no love. She couldn't find home in them anymore.
"I love you. You're everything I've ever wanted and more." She continued, waiting for the right words to reveal the familiar look in his eyes.
"It's not an it for me... It's ours. It's you and I. It's us. It's every 'i love you.' It's the best thing that's happened to me. Even if this isn't how I wanted us to end up here."
His eyes remained cold.
She tried to reach out to gently caress his face, but was quickly stopped.
"Please..." She begged one last time.
His silence spoke volumes.
Isabel watched him quickly pack up a few things and toss them in his gym bag. Before she knew it he was out the door.
The days passed. No sign of Seth. No calls. No dropping by.
She spent each and every single night crying. She barely ate. She tried to force herself to, but it only made her feel sicker than she was.
She hoped that he was thinking about her words. Re-considering. Each day proved her otherwise.
She had hit six weeks since she found out what seemed to be the end of them.
She checked her phone one last time before setting it down on the nightstand and getting into bed. She hugged his pillow, as usual, letting out a deep breath. The negative thoughts never ended. The sadness didn't get better. She stared at the ceiling, tears beginning to stream down her face as she waited for her phone to buzz. She wanted it to be him. She wanted to hear his voice. She wanted him to ask her how she was. She wanted him to tell her that he misses her. She wanted him to say that he'd be by her side. Help her. Love her. Hold her hand and guide her through this. After hours of false hope and depressing thoughts, she had dozed off.
Her dreams consisted of a happy family of three. Love and laughter were all she dreamt of.
