A/N: Here's chaper three! Hope you enjoy. It's a tiny bit shorter than the other two due to a much shorter pesterlog.

Sprawled on sheets of indigo was a teenage boy who was feeling a bit frantic. Josh had been anything but helpful in his quest. He stared at the recent chatlog on his laptop that sat in front of him. He guessed he could talk to Lizy for help on what to get her but that's what everyone probably did. The two girls could practically read each other's minds. So chances were the other two asked her for help, not to mention the fact that Lizy had to come up with her own awesome gift.

With an exasperated sigh the young man snapped his laptop shut and rolled off of his stomach and onto his back. Why wasn't he good at this? For his entire life he had been praised for his intelligence and applicable skills. Certificates of achievement hung on the fridge with 'Ryan Egbert' written proudly across them. They ranged from achievements from when he was five to then, when he was sixteen. He was 'his mother's son' in that aspect. Then why couldn't he come up with an awesome present!

Becoming frustrated with the situation, Ryan pulled himself up off his bed. This, however, did not go as planned. The boy hooked his heel under the bedframe and crashed to the floor, hitting his head against his tool box. A yelp escaped his lips as his hands instinctively clutched his head. Maybe the others were right, he was derp.

Why the hell had he left the metal box right at the edge of his bed in the first place? Oh, that's right. He was dead tired after building sets last night so he dumped it on the ground and rolled into bed. Crap, sets! Ryan checked his mental calendar. Did he have to be there today? No, today they were off. Did he have anything going on today? School was out for summer so that was a no. He couldn't think of any appointments or prior commitments he had. Not that he had many in general. His small group of friends (outside his four best friends, referred to as 'The Family') weren't the most social and adventurous group of people. They hung out occasionally but not very often. This meant his day was open to do whatever he wanted. This also meant he would spend the day playing video games, reading a comic or two, talking to the others, and trying to figure out this shitty birthday present. Yup, that sounded about right. It would be a good day. The past four days had been filled with nonstop set building for the upcoming production of 'Alice in Wonderland.' As much as he loved building and engineering and anything else related it could really get on his nerves.

While Ryan was going on this mental rant he hadn't noticed his father walk in the door. The blue eyed, black haired man rolled his eyes at his son on the floor. Ryan's indigo eyes glanced up to find his father, one John Egbert, staring at him slightly amused.

"Ry, you okay? I could hear you yell from downstairs." He said with his almost always present goofy smile. It sometimes made him wonder how his mother, a very composed and analytical person, had ended up with his father.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just, uh, fell."

"Well okay then. I'm gonna head to work. Your mom is already at the office. Get dressed too. I don't want you spending the whole day in the house." Ryan let out an audible sigh.

"Fine. Bye Dad."

"See you tonight." With that, John left the room. Fallowing his father's instructions he began to get dressed. He threw on some old tan cargo shorts and a black T-Shirt with some unknown monster on it; just an average outfit for Ryan. Cargo shorts, T-shirts, jeans, vans, all of it. He never was very fashion coconscious despite his mother's protest. She was determined to get him to care about what he wore and try and look nice. 'If I can get to your father to care about fashion, I can get to you to, too.'

He then trudged to the bathroom to brush his teeth. As he brushed his oversized front teeth he looked at himself in the mirror. His extremely pale skin was matched with the same shaggy, jet black hair as his father. If he had Lizy's red eyes he would have looked like a vampire, but instead he had his bright indigo irises. They were the perfect combination of his dad's blue and his mom's violet. He wasn't too tall, standing at about five foot eight, but still taller than most girls. After brushing his huge smile he grabbed a brush and worked through his knots. Unlike his father, his hair actually looked like he brushed it. It really didn't look half bad. A little long and it fell to his chin, but not bad. A few pieces here and there curled on their own and he was tempted to barrow his mom's flat iron to fix them but decided against it. It's not like anyone would really see him and he wasn't that desperate.

After finishing up in the bathroom he headed back to his room. His phone was sitting on his desk and he picked it up quickly. Might as well talk to the upcoming birthday girl herself to find out what she wanted. Or at least get a better idea as to what to look for.

With a sigh Ryan headed downstairs to grab something to eat. It was only nine in the morning and he was already fairly stressed. Today would be just great.

A/N: For those of you wondering, the shirt is John's black shirt with the slime monster from when Vriska made his outfit.
