When I stepped outside, my senses were overwhelmed. The bright sunlight. The dry heat, burning as I breathed in and out. The smell of earth and animal droppings, it all hit me at once.
"Shit," I said while covering my eyes.
After a few minutes my eyes began to adjust to the strong sunlight, just as I started walking I saw what I thought to be a Robot strolling by, I didn't pay it much attention.
I took a minute to observe my surroundings. To my left I saw a burnt house with a dirty broken picket-fence that appeared to stretch all around the house, a small looking garden in the front with a man tending to these strange plants. To my right I saw another burned down building beside three large boulders and some sort of wind device, I have no idea what it is, but I plan on finding out.
In front of me was appeared to be some sort of Vehicle that crashed into a stop sign. The road way looked terrible, cracked and scorched. I wonder what happened to cause that kind of damage?
I followed the road, my senses going wild as I caught wind of some sort of animal, its scent was oddly familiar to me. In my mind I pictured a large creature with red skin and big horns, Bighorner? It seems to fit but I'll ask someone later if that's the proper name for the creature. Just as I was about to continue I heard the most odd noise, I turned to see the very creature I'd pictured not but a second ago. I guess my sense of smell is very powerful, or the animal just stink really badly. Following the road I came across a strange looking plant growing next to two large crates. It had large round seeds growing out of it, I picked it thinking they could be useful.
After walking for a few minutes I came to a building that had: "Goodsprings General Store" written on it. Boxes were scattered all around the small building. Next to it were some sort of work benches, as curious as I was about it I wanted to talk to someone other than the Doctor. Just as I was about to pass the second building that had a swinging sign that read: "Prospector Saloon" building I saw an elderly man sitting in a chair, looking off into the distance.
"Excuse me, sir."
"What can Easy Pete do for you?"
"Where am I?"
He looked at me with an amused smirk and said,"This here is a Saloon."
"I know that, but what I meant is where are we located?"
For some reason that sounded a bit disrespectful, but he didn't seem to notice or care.
" In the Mojave Wasteland."
"Wasteland?"
"Now if I hadn't known that you'd be shot in the head, I would've swore you just crawled outta a Vault."
I was about to say something in my defense, but he just waved his hand and began to speak again.
" Long time ago there was a big ol' war and for some reason one side thought it would be a good idea to drop a bunch of nukes. It killed a lot of people, the ones who couldn't buy their way into a Vault either died are turned into a Ghoul. What you see around you is what was left. After the Vaults opened up, the people started to rebuild."
I don't know why, but I believed him.
"Thank you for telling me, I guess I'll go inside now."
"Keep your gun handy if you go poking around in abandon places like the schoolhouse, critters made their home in there."
"Thanks for the advice," I said walking up the steps into the Saloon.
As soon as I closed the door to the Saloon, I was greeted by a dog barking and snarling at me. But then began to whimper and tuck her tail and hide behind a woman with orange hair and Leather armor.
"Cheyenne, stay-Cheyenne? Girl?"
"That's strange. Normally she's very aggressive around strangers," she said looking at her dog, clearly concerned by her odd behavior.
"Sorry, I don't know much about dogs. Ugh, do You know where I could find someone named Sunny Smiles? Doc Mitchell told me she could help me out."
"You're looking at her. And yeah. I guess there's a thing or two I could show you. Sounds like you need all the help you can get after what they done to you. Meet me outside, behind the saloon."
And with that she walked out the door. I don't know why. But I had a feeling things were about to get VERY Exciting
