Chapter 2
Antonio held up the two responses in triumph.
"Ay! They're all coming! This is going to be a fiesta to remember!" He cheered, bouncing a few times. He had anticipated the positive responses but was excited nonetheless. He calmed down and turned to his second in command. "You have the agenda right?"
Ludwig, surprisingly, wasn't paying attention to him however, and was instead worrying over the bouncy Italian insisting upon a piggy back ride. Antonio sighed fondly at the hard headed young man and his oblivious counterpart. They had been basically glued to the hip since they were young, and despite Ludwig's insistence that Feliciano was simply a pain in the butt, the two were best of friends. Or more. The Spaniard couldn't tell anymore.
"I'm also only going to have five of you attend," Antonio continued, hoping to catch his attention. "Of course you and Feliciano are going to be two of them."
The blond suddenly looked up, surprised, before Feliciano took the opportunity to jump on him. Ludwig stumbled before regaining composure and supporting the singing Italian on his back with a sigh. He grumbled something about immature Italians under breathe.
"Of course, sir. But if you don't mind me asking, are you sure it was a good idea to invite both the Vampires and the Warlocks here at the same time?" Ludwig asked grinding his teeth at the sounds the small Italian werewolf was making behind him. He was singing something about Germany, the place he used to live before the werewolf kingdom was formed some 156 years ago. Antonio couldn't help but laugh and join in, it was the Italian's favorite tune afterall.
"Sausages with cheeses always taste so good! It'd be heaven for a dog; yeah, that's Germany. Tell me, how is it you Germans are so robust? You're crushing me with your intimidation. My fragility causes me to openly weep out of fear. Your women terrify me." The Italian sang, upper body swinging with the rhythm.
"Mein Gott Feliciano, will you please shut up!" Ludwig shouted, trying to turn around to see him. Antonio had to admit he looked like a dog chasing his own tail.
The small Italian werewolf gave a small shriek and jumped off his back. Ludwig whipped around to face him.
"Eek, sorry Ludi!" Feliciano hid behind one of the white columns lining the room. Antonio started laughing.
"Seriously Ludi, lighten up. Little Feli was just singing a little song about Germany," Antonio responded, voice tinted with mischievousness. "And to answer your question, yes. I have my reasons."
Ludwig ignored the answer.
"Don't call me Ludi! And that song is an insult to my homeland!" Ludwig shouted at him and Antonio just tisked him. Feliciano on the other hand shrieked some more and then started crying. Antonio watched the taller's face drop, a distressed expression flooding the blond's face. He went over to comfort the smaller.
"Uh, Feliciano, I'm sorry, ja? I'm just stressed. I swear." Ludwig had just started to coax him out when Feliciano's twin, Lovino, came running out.
"A-ha! You stupid potato bastard!"
The two Italians looked exactly alike except for Lovino's slightly darker hair and the strange curl both shared stuck out from the upper right side of his head. The same curl that everyone knew not to pull unless you wanted an extremely angry Italian chasing after you. Which was exactly what Antonio wanted. He skipped over to the unsuspecting brunet.
"Oh Lovi~" He sang and promptly tugged on his curl.
"CHIGI!" The Italian yelled and fearlessly head butted his leader. Antonio grunted and then laughed, catching the smaller in his arms and patting his head.
"Aw… But Lovi~" Antonio whined and pouted, not at all threatening.
With Lovino distracted, Ludwig decided it was the perfect opportunity to escape and grabbed Feliciano's wrist, pulling him out of the throne room suddenly filled with curses. They raced down the hall until Feliciano spoke.
"Ve~ Sorry Ludwig," Feliciano apologized, somehow totally fine now.
"There is no reason to apologize, Feliciano," Ludwig sighed, knowing he also had to apologize. "It's my fault, I shouldn't have yelled at you."
The small Italian let out a loud "ve" and hugged him. The man was an emotional rollercoaster and Ludwig had been dragged along for the ride.
"Ve~ I got an apology!" Feliciano smiled at him and Ludwig thought that maybe his heart fluttered a tiny bit. But only maybe.
There was a sudden ruckus outside as they heard Lovino shout. Ludwig blanched.
Oh no.
"Wait, where did my brother go?! Don't you steal my brother you bastard!" Lovino shouted from the other room. Rapid footsteps could be head approaching.
"Lovi~ don't run off!" Antonio yelled at him and another step of footsteps joined.
"Potato bastard! Where the hell are you!" Lovino yelled. Ludwig made a move to sprint.
"Ve~ Ludi, you should run. Fratello sounds angry at you." Feliciano pouted up at him, stating the obvious. Ludwig rolled his eyes and tugged on the Italian to start running
"You better not be molesting mi fratello, potato bastard!" Lovino's voice sounded again.
This time Ludwig stopped in shock.
He raised an eyebrow; where Lovino got these ideas he'd never know. All he knew now was the running would just make him look more guilty and that was an embarrassment he did not want. Instead of running he just stood there with his hands on his hips. Feliciano hid behind him when his brother burst through the doors.
"Why would I molest your brother?" Ludwig sighed as the Italian went to attack him.
"There you are!" Lovino ignored the question. Ludwig just stepped aside and avoided the attack. The two of them were absolutely useless in a fight.
He held his hands out as if to strangle him as he surged forward again. Ludwig prepared himself to dodge again. That was when Antonio appeared behind the Italian and tackled him to the ground. Lovino struggled underneath him, yelling insults at the king. Antonio just laughed and nuzzled his chest, clearly enjoying this.
"Let go of me, you tomato bastard!" Lovino shouted and struggled some more half-heartedly. "I need to kill the potato bastard for trying to molest my defenseless fratello!"
"He wasn't anywhere near your brother Lovi, you're just looking for an excuse." Antonio reasoned before pulling the hair again and laughing at his reaction. "Plus, I can't afford to lose a good second in command like him."
"Argh, fine. Let me go, I promise I would try to strangle him." Lovino gave up with a scowl. Antonio pouted and slowly stood up, still keeping an arm around his Lovino.
Lovino jumped to his feet with a small 'humph' and dusted himself off. His face was bright red from a mixture of anger and humiliation with his one stray curl was sticking out straight. He angrily brushed himself off and smoothed down his clothes. Then, shoving off Antonio and grabbing his twin by the arm he dragged him out.
"Bye Ludi!" Feliciano called out behind him.
"Goodbye my tomato!" Antonio called after them. A weak "bastard" was heard as they disappeared into the palace.
The German man just put his head in his hands, not sure how the two ended up in his life. He mumbled something, barely understandable.
"Why does he have to be like that?"
"Which one?" Antonio asked with a smile. Ludwig looked up and thought about it for a moment before answering.
"Both of them."
"'Kay everyone, as you all know we are hosting a feast and party here with representatives from all the other supernatural kingdoms in about three days. Only five nobles will be able to go and I'm also only enlisting four royal guards!" Antonio announced happily to the assembly in front of him.
Everyone looked around the room with their eyebrows raised. They did not, in fact, know that they were hosting a feast and party. The cooks looked agitated at their enthusiastic employer, a feast! The nobles all looked around, noticing for the first time there were only five of them in the entire kingdom.
"Yo, tomato bastard, there are only four royal guards and five of us to begun with," Lovino pointed out.
"Aw, Lovi~ you're taking the fun out of the announcement." Antonio pouted at him.
"Fine, just get on with it." Lovino rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, looking to the side as if he may have felt the slightest bit bad.
"Alright then, the nobles are Lovino, Ludwig, Feliciano, Katyusha, and Alfred. The guards are Ravis, Carlos, Heracles, and Ivan," Antonio finished dramatically anyways, staring pointedly at the now guilty Italian. Everyone just looked amongst themselves in the awkwardness before Feliciano broke the silence.
"Ve~ we are holding a party! I'll make new friends!" Feliciano yelled out happily.
There was a strangled "yay" from the rest of the gathered crowd.
Ludwig just gave another sigh and frowned at the room's reaction. Feliciano saw this and immediately skipped over to him, worried. A small frown creased his forehead as he hung onto Ludwig's arm; completely ignoring the glare his brother sent both of them.
"Ludi, what's wrong? Do you not want to have a party?" Feliciano asked him, tears now gathering at the corners of his permanently closed eyes. Ludwig scrambled to gather himself.
"Nein, I would love to have a party!" Ludwig said frantically shaking his head and blushing. If looks could kill, the glare that Lovino sent to Ludwig would have him burning within the depths of hell in about three seconds flat. He started to stomp over to the two.
Thankfully for Ludwig, Antonio saw this and decided to save his second in command (and have fun with his little Italian). Running over, he gave the hair another pull.
"CHIGI! Stop it, you tomato bastardo!" Lovino shouted, his attention successfully directed away from Ludwig.
Ludwig and Feliciano took the opportunity to slip out of the room again. Ludwig really should thank his king one day. Feliciano had followed Ludwig to continue their previous conversation.
"Ve~ Ludi, so you do want to have a party, right?" Feliciano said enthusiastically.
"Yes, I'm excited for this party, Feliciano," Ludwig answered dutifully, nodding his head.
"Oh yeah!" Feliciano brightened up again as if realizing something. "The vampires coming means that your brother will be here! I can't wait to meet him!"
Ludwig's eyes suddenly widened. Oh no. He had forgotten that Feliciano had never met his brother before, and of course he would want to meet him. The German had tried so hard to keep the small Italian away from his annoying and slightly perverted brother. If his brother saw the Italian man he'd probably jump him on the spot, his brother always did like cute things. Not that Feliciano was cute or anything but… Okay, he was. But that was besides the point.
"You will NOT meet my brother," Ludwig declared, looking away at the hurt expression on the other's face.
"Umm… okay then Ludi. I'll make sure I don't go near him unless I'm with you," Feliciano told him happily and started skipping away.
"W-wait, that's not what I meant!" Ludwig yelled chasing after him. There was no way the Italian didn't know what he was doing.
