Everyone quickly rushed to the dining pavillion, like a river of warrior kids. They sat down at the tables, labled with gods' names. "We normally sit with the other kids in our cabin. Who's your parent again?" Nico said.

"Uhhh..." I didn't know what cabin I was in. My dad. . .I never knew my dad. I think my mom said he left before I was born. I always thought that was extremely rude of him, whoever he was.

"Jade. You may pick a spot wherever you like," Chiron told me. I heard an audible gasp from the other campers. "We'll discuss your cabin placement at the campfire this evening." I chose to sit on the ground, at the foot of the Apollo table, with my back against a marble pillar. The elfish girls, like the ones from the infirmary, were serving food. One of them gave me a plate of pizza and an empty cup.

"You have to sacrifice some of your food," a girl's voice said. I looked up to see the girl who shot that arrow at the archery arena.

"What?" I said.

"Put some of your food in that fire," she said. "The gods like the smell." I walked over to the fire she pointed at and ripped the crust off my pizza. The fire spluttered like it was angry at me. I stuck my tongue out at it. When I got back to my spot, the girl was sitting in it.

"Nice offering," she said as I sat down. "You're supposed to give the best part of your food."

"Yeah, well. I like to eat the best part of my food," I said.

"Ooohh, Genevive, you're breaking the rules!" someone teased. I looked up and saw the guy who was there with Genevive that one night.

"Shut up, Leo," she said. "You would, too."

"Yup. And I am now, too." He sat down with us and took a massive bite of pizza. "What you do, is you tell it what you want to drink," Leo said. I stared at him. "The cup," he explained. "Water." And the cup filled with cold water.

"Just tell it whatever?" I asked. "Dr. Pepper," I said. The glass filled with fizzy dark liquid. I got an idea. "Melted marshmallows," I said. White stickiness appeared in the cup. I went through a whole lot of other liquids, a few of them inedible (i.e, bleach). It worked every time. I giggled.

"Stop, you're gonna break it," Genevive said, laughing. I told the glass to fill with cream soda, and ate my pizza with Genevive and Leo.
