Chapter 2:

"Who does she think she is?" Thor thundered as he flipped over a table. "To say that I did not love my brother is blasphemy. I loved him dearly."

"Why does it bother you so much that she wishes to have a memorial for your brother?" Odin asks him.

He sat down on the couch with a heavy ugh. "Having a memorial announces that he is dead."

"He has died though." Odin reminds him. "You watched as he died right before your eyes."

"Indeed I watched as my brother died. You mustn't forget, Father, that he is also a master of trickery. Perhaps I had only seen what he wanted me to see." Thor ponders. "Loki may indeed not have perished that day. When I went to retrieve his body, there was none to be found."

This was news to Odin. He had not realized that Thor searched for the body. As much of an oaf the blonde was, he was onto something. If he continued down this path then he would stumble upon the truth sooner or later. A truth that could destroy all of Asgard.

"There are creatures all across the nine realms that feed upon the flesh of the dead. See it as a blessing that you did not find your brother's body mutilated by creatures." Odin states.

"Perhaps you are right, Father." Thor sighs. "I will see it as a blessing."

"Is anything else bothering you, my son?"

"The Lady Sif has mentioned something to me recently. She told me of a young woman that had warmed Loki's bed for many years." This caught Odin's attention. "The Lady has caught the woman countless times. The woman Sif described is the exact match for the one who was in here yesterday."

"Why is it that you are bringing this to my attention?" Odin deflects. "Your brother had many lovers over the span of his lifetime, as have you. This is no new information."

"I believe she was more than a brief lover, Father." Thor says. "I believe that is why she wants a memorial for Loki. She cared for him as I care for my Jane."

"What are you suggesting?"

"I would like to go to her. Give her the comfort that will help her reach her closure. Perhaps if I tell her of his bravery during his final moments that it will help heal her of this emotional pain." This was the same thing he wanted if he had ever perished. He would want someone to tell Jane of his last moments of bravery defending those he cared about.

"Even as the All-Father, her name is absent from my memory," Odin states. His darling would not like it if the all mighty Thor appeared on her doorstep. In fact, she would not like it if she even knew that Thor had given her a second thought.

"Her name is Adelaide," Thor presents. "Heimdall has given me the maiden's name and location. I will be back before nightfall."

"No," Odin says. Calmly, he collects himself. He had almost let himself slip back into his natural state. "I will do this. As the All-Father it is my job to make sure all of Asgard is at peace, even over matters such as this. You are not king yet, my boy."

Thor hangs his head. "I know this, Father. You have not been well recently, I thought that perhaps if I did this then it would allow you to rest."

"I will rest when I fall into Odin-sleep." Odin says. "Now, go travel to your human. Visit her for some time. I shall summon you when it is time for your brother's memorial."

"Thank you, Father." Thor says before running off to travel to Earth.

Odin makes his way towards the stables. He picks out the king's horse, though he would much rather travel by his own or his mother's. The wild white stallion reared up as soon as Odin had straddled the beast. With a light kick, he was off to the cottage in the woods.

"My king," Adelaide greeted him with a small curtsey. She was covered in dirt from tending her garden. "What a pleasure it is to see you at my humble abode."

Loki let the glamour fade with a smirk. "The pleasure hasn't yet begun, my dearest Adelaide."

It took only a few steps before he was able to wrap his arms around her waist. She leaned into him, breathing in his scent. Adelaide allowed her body to relax into his, resting her face into the crook of his neck. His hand reached up, running his fingers through her golden hair.

"How I wish you could return to the castle with me," Loki sighed.

"If I did then others would notice something. Odin should still be in a time of mourning for the queen." she reminds him.

"They already know something is up."

She pulls away from him, looking into his eyes. "What do you mean?"

"The Lady Sif has told my brother about you. He has now realized that you had been my lover for quite sometime."

"Is this a bad thing? I thought you rather enjoyed me warming your bed."

He gave her a quick kiss. "That is besides the point. My brother wanted to travel here today to speak to you."

"About what?"

Loki shook his head. "I'm not quite sure. He is hiding something. He tried to cover it all up with a claim that he wanted to help heal you of your emotional pain by telling you of my final moments."

"That is a sweet gesture." she states. "I would rather have you tell me of your final moments."

He sighs. "Adelaide, this is a serious matter. Everything could start unraveling."

Her small hands pushed his jacket off of his shoulders leaving him in his undershirt. "Unraveling? That would be a quicker way to divest you of your clothing."

Loki could no longer hold it back, he smiled at the woman in his arms. Lifting her up, he carried her into her cottage. Her legs wrapped tightly around his waist. Adelaide peppered kisses on his face and neck, not wanting a single part of her not touching the beautiful man. She craved his touch. He laid her on the bed, his lips finding hers.
