Chapter Three
You know, I'd never really known why my father had suddenly taken an interest in letting me, Gaara, and Kankurou have an actual education but I think that I've gotten the gist of his reasoning. Just from being in two classes, one which wasn't even academic, I could see the business opportunities practically freaking growing out of this place. For example, I think that I'm one of the only actual seniors in my calculus class. Seriously, it's crazy.

First of all, that one Nara kid, he's supposed to be in his sophomore year but apparently he's like a freaking genius and he skipped two grades. Then there's the Haruno girl, she's in my history class. I saw her for the first time today and it seems like all those extracurriculars and all that built-up stress have gotten to her since her hair is pink. No I'm not joking, it's freaking bubble-gum pink. Yeah so I'm thinking that she might not be what they had in mind when they first started up this school; although, she is another one of those bookworm over-achievers so I guess that makes up for her...unusual choice of a hairstyle. Speaking of over-achievers, I almost forgot to mention the Hyuga prodigy. He's in his junior year but he's in both my English and math class. Yeah, and to think that I thought I was smart back at Suna Prep.

Of course, being smart doesn't just automatically make somebody have a business appeal. Being smart is just one of the many factors that make up the essence of a businessman. See, to even make a blip on my fathers' radar you'd have to have money, and lots of it. So I'm guessing that sending me to one of the most expensive prep schools in the world would expose me to some pretty rich kids and rich kids equals rich parents.

Yeah so as you can tell from what I've said before, Konoha Academy is about a million times better than Suna Prep; from the academics down to the athletics department. Most of the kids at Suna Prep had an average G.P.A of 3.0 or lower and that's usually due to the fact that people used to skip classes all the time. Seriously, during last years pre-calculus class only about fifteen out of the fifty people consistently showed up to class. I mean, I guess that it was better for the people that actually did show up since the teachers focused more on us but still, it was a pretty horrid school.

My first day at Konoha Academy actually went pretty well. That Nara kid ended up showing me around after first period and at lunch he pointed out all his sophomore friends; Ino Yamanaka (the almost hyperactive gossiping queen), Naruto Uzumaki (the equally hyperactive kid that's also been pretty messed up due to something like what Gaara went through), Sakura Haruno (the pink-haired overachiever), Shino Aburame (the quiet kid that is really into studying bugs), Kiba Inuzuka (a loud and outgoing kid that convinced the school that his dog was absolutely necessary to have during all his classes since he is a "service dog"), Hinata Hyuga (a quiet and shy girl who has, apparently, had a crush on the Uzumaki kid since first grade), Sasuke Uchicha (a quiet but almost menacing kid who definitely could have given some of the kids back in Suna a run for their money), and Chouij (a "big-boned" yet sweet guy who's Shikamaru's best friend).

All my teachers are pretty cool, too. It's weird 'cause they're all really young compared to my teachers at Suna Prep, where the teachers were all old enough to be considered seniors at any movie theater. Asuma Sarutobi's my calculus teacher and he's pretty laid-back although, for some reason, he's really harsh on Nara. Kurenai Yuhi, my history teacher, is pretty cool although she's really tough since she's the only girl "teacher". Kakashi Hatake's my English teacher and he, apparently, has a reputation for being late to every single class, seriously he's never been on-time to any of his classes.

Soon enough, the day had wound down and I was, quickly and pretty rudely, dropped off at the school reception desk by my oh-so-kind guide. The receptionist looked at me, smiled, fished through a drawer, and handed me a key labeled Dorm Room: 142. She then proceeded to hand me a map and tell me that all of my and my brothers' stuff has already been moved to my dorm-room.

After about ten minutes of searching, I found my room. With perfectly polished mahogany doors and the number 142 on a stainless steel placard next to the door, I had a feeling that it was going to be one of those dorm-rooms that had about a million rules that you had to follow to keep on living there. I, unfortunately, wasn't proven wrong once I opened the door only to find a rule list in a glass frame on the kitchen counter. It's basically a dorm that could be featured in a regular Home & Garden magazine; complete with a stainless steel mini-fridge, toaster, and oven, granite counter-tops with a built-in sink, a few scattered beanbags, a bookshelf (already partly filled with books about the academy's history and rules and such), a bunk-bed and a small twin bed, two dressers and a walk-in closet, a bathroom with a jacuzzi, and a bunch of random artwork hanging from the walls.

I'd just started unpacking my suitcase when I heard a key jangling and voices outside my door.

"Thank Kami, we're here!" Kankurou yelled as he burst through the door.

"I told you we weren't lost." Gaara grumbled as he shut the door and pocketed his key.

"Oh yeah, Gaara, it just took thirty minutes because you enjoyed the scenery." Kankurou retorted sarcastically.

"It wasn't my fault somebody lost the map that the receptionist gave us." Gaara countered as he took off his shoes and placed them neatly against the wall.

"Just because I so-" Kankurou started as he shook his shoes off, sending them flying. I, being the apparent shoe-magnet, somehow managed to get hit with one.

"Kankurou!" I yelled as I hurled the shoe back at him.

"Kami, Temari!" he yelped as the shoe thunked against his head.

"Sorry, it slipped." I deadpanned.

"Such a bi-" he began, silenced once Gaara and I glared at him.

"So how was your day, Tem?" Kankurou asked as he walked toward the mini-fridge and pulled out a diet coke. I smiled and began recounting my day, emphasizing my encounter with Ms. Mitarashi and all the quirks of Shikamaru's friends. I'm beginning to think I could get used to Konoha Academy.

Author's Note: I'm sorry for the long wait! I know that I've been really horrid about updating but I hope that you guys stick around! I know it's probably asking for too much, but a review would be great. I'm actually really looking for some constructive criticism so anything you've got is great for me! Thanks for all your patience!
