Chapter Three: The Big Bad Wolf Ruins the Day (part two)

James POV

I pressed my lips to his, enjoying the warmth of the Gryffindor common room. His arm wrapped around my waist and the other slowly drifting down to meet it then past it. His arm slipped slowly further reaching my butt, then squeezing. I pushed him away, bringing my arms to my stomach. I felt like I was going to be sick.

All I could think about was Avery's hand wrapped around my thigh, slowly drifting upwards. About- not important. I looked into his eyes. What was this, a rumor?

"So you just had to get your share too?" I asked, feeling the tears coming to my eyes.

"I-I," he started. I bolted out of the Gryffindor common room, running as fast as my legs would take me, down the corridor and multiple sets of stairs. I wandered until I was back outside the hospital wing. I came to Sirius' bedside sitting on the edge. Sirius looked up at me, his face morphing into one of concern.

"What happened?" He asked me, scooting as best he could and allowing me a place next to him.

"R-Remus, h-he," I started, my stutters getting too close together to understand.

"What did Remus do?" Sirius asked in a threatening tone, though it wasn't directed at me I couldn't contain my tears and like earlier when Sirius got hurt, I cried.

Sirius' face softened. "It's not your fault, I don't know what happened but I know me a Remus will be having a little chat later." Maybe it was my fault, I thought. Maybe I should have set rules, maybe when Avery had his hand around my waist I should have pulled on his hand harder, screamed, done something. Maybe when- not important.

Sirius pulled me close to him, I nestled my head into his chest, I fell asleep almost immediately.

Sirius POV

I held my little cousin closer, waiting for someone to come in, someone to get Remus. After an hour of no one showing up, I stood. Though my legs were healed they still felt painful, like when you run without being warmed-up. I laid James' head down on the pillow before leaving. Once I had reached the corridor, I saw my little brother Regulus coming, my schoolbag in his hand.

"Sirius you're supposed to be in the-" Regulus started but after seeing my face stopped short.

"Remus did something, Avery did something-" I stopped short, no reason to worry my little brother at the moment.

"James is asleep in there, stay with him until I get back." I said leaving, not giving Reg a chance to reply.

I walked up to Gryffindor tower, seeing that it was empty, including Remus, I headed to the library. I knew he was lurking somewhere within the stacks of books.

Remus POV

I disappeared behind a shelf of charms books before Sirius could spot me. I saw his black hair before I saw the rest of him. He spotted my boots and I ran. I went past a group of first years writing an essay and past a group of my classmates- sixth years- collecting transfiguration books, they were probably sent by Professor McGonagall.

As I was turning the corner, Sirius appeared in front of me. I startled backward, sensing the fear in my eyes, he narrowed his.

"What did you do to him?" He asked, his tone threatening.

"I-I, we were kissing, in the common room. I lowered my hand, squ-squeezed his butt and he yelled at me before running away." I said, taking deep breaths.

"I told you not to hurt my little cousin." Sirius threatened, "don't come back to the dorm tonight. I'm having James sleep with me up there, and I don't want you anywhere near him. Or Reg." Sirius said, walking away and- I assumed- back up to the hospital wing.

Sirius POV

I walked to the hospital wing, I was fuming. A group of first years immediately silenced themselves as I walked by. I went through the doors. Ignoring two Ravenclaws groans. They were the victims of a potion explosion, one that gave them a headache.

I saw Regulus wearing his silver and green quidditch shirt. His gray eyes were staring down at James as he shifted in his arms. I walked towards my younger brother and cousin. Reg looked up at me.

"What happened?" He asked me.

"Not important." I told him. He loosened his arms from around James.

"Reg can you get all our bags? You and Jamie are sleeping up with me tonight." I said in my overprotective brother voice.

"I think Jas and I will be fine. The Hufflepuffs are nice and I'm capable of handling myself." Reg said as I picked James up. Regulus knew it was a losing battle and followed me up to the Gryffindor common room to the sixth year dorms.

"Reg, you get Remus' bed, James can sleep with me." Sirius said pointing to where Rehulus would sleep. James was curled on his side on the silk red sheets.

James POV

I awoke, feeling soft silk pressed against my cheek. I raised my head and brought up my hands, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.

"Hey Jamie," I heard from somewhere beside me. I looked over at the blurry figure and held my hand out for my glasses. I felt them fall into my hand and slipped them onto my face. Sirius was next to me.

"How are you feeling?" He asked me, slipping into overprotective cousin mode. Sirius and I used to be close until the big move to New York. We haven't seen each other since his first year and my sixth grade.

To the question- how am I feeling? I feel trapped, closed in. It feels like it's never stopping and there's nothing I can do. I feel dirty but I can never get clean.

"I'm fine." I tell him and smile sweetly before lowering myself back on the mattress and pretending to sleep. I'm dirty, the clothes are dirty, and the bed… the bed is terrifying. The sheets are soaked with my blood, his nails are dug into my wrists. But I'm fine. I'm fine.

But now I'm pushing and the tears are streaming down my face and now he's pushing and there's no way out. Breathe in, breathe out. Shuddering in, shuddering out. There's a terrible pain and I'm stuck. There's a terrible pain that he caused, that he's causing. It never stops, it's still happening now. There's a terrible pain, and I have to deal with it alone.
