Kagome sighed silently as she placed the tea tray down. Itachi has been out for 6 days. Sango was still missing and she has been ignored by some girls that used to be her acquaints.

Rubbing her cold hands together, Kagome walked towards the door and grabbed a basket. She slipped on her shoes and started to walk towards the exit of her clan's complex. She put the basket strap on her forearm and walked towards the market.

Konoha was such a beautiful place with many secrets. She stopped and pondered if it was better to buy berries on the market or pick them up herself. The flavor is indeed better than buying it.

She smiled at the young woman and approached her. "Everything looks so fresh."

"That's because they are."

Of course, they have to say it. They have to sell it or they will lose their market profit. "Hmm, i would like to take some oranges."

"Very well miss." The woman gladly placed some oranges on a bag.

As Kagome was rummaging her wallet, she looked to the side and smiled. "Oh, hello Sasuke. How are you?" She asked, giving the money to the woman and putting the oranges on the basket.

Sasuke blushed and muttered a very shy 'hi' in return. "It's good to finally meet you-!" She blinked when Sasuke suddenly turned away and started to run. "You're just like your brother." She tilted her head and smiled.

This spring day on Konoha was like a blessing. She walked silently towards her house, when she stopped her tracks. She quickly grabbed the basket as it almost slipped from her hand. The orange she was eating did not get the same luck. It fell down and started to roll without a destiny.

Kagome stared at Itachi and an unnamed girl, sat together by the docks sharing dangos. He always returns to her to reassure her that he was fine and he… She blinked in sadness and made her way back home. Her steps became slow and her eyes that once had a joyful gleam, had nothing more than a slight shadow on them.

'Perhaps i'm exaggerating. Maybe he just returned and is talking with one of his friends before coming to me.' She stopped at her front door and placed the basket down. 'Itachi has a lot of responsibilities and duties to accomplish. I will wait for him to come to me. ' She took her shoes off and grabbed the basket.

She looked to the clock and decided to make an orange pie to keep her mind busy. She trusts Itachi, she really does but….Beside Sango, he's the only friend she has. A friend that conquered her heart. Someone who promised to never break it. She touched the necklace and shook her head.

"My God." She laughed. "Where did these thoughts come from?" She sighed and started to get the necessary ingredients to bake the pie. She will go to him and offer it as a welcome gift.

Uchiha Complex

After dinner, Kagome took the pie and walked silently to the Uchiha complex. Her father wasn't too keen to let her walk around alone, especially at night. But, fortunately, he always gives in when her mother steps in. Konoha is practically under surveillance 24/7. There are always people outside and besides not being a great kunoichi, Kagome can defend herself pretty good.

"Hello Kai." She greeted a young Uchiha that stood at the entrance, smoking his usual cigarette.

"Higurashi-san, it's good to finally see you." He retorted, putting the cigarette on his mouth and looking at her from the corner of his eyes.

"It's good to see you too." She coughed. "Sooo…hmm…You still don't think on quitting that horrible addiction?"

"Meh." He shrugged and lifted his head up and blew the smoke away.

"Ok. Nice chat. I'm going to see Itachi-san."

"Hmm." He grabbed the tip of his cigarette between his thumb and index finger to take one more blow. "He's at his house. In the garden." He tossed it to the ground and stepped on it, smashed it on the cold ground.

"Thank you." She said and made her way to his house.

"Yeah, whatever." He retorted before leaning against the wall again.

'What a charmer.' She thought as she smiled to some Uchiha's that crossed her path.

"Hello, Mikoto-san. It's so good to see you." Kagome smiled as Mikoto smiled back.

"I haven't seen you in 6 days Kagome. You should visit us more often." She took the pie and motioned her to come in.

"Excuse me." She took her shoes off and looked around. "Forgive me for coming at night. I'm here to see Itachi."

Mikoto smiled and pointed to the back door."Make yourself at home."

Kagome nodded and walked to the garden. The Uchiha's had a beautiful garden but her mom being the plant fanatic she was, always had a vast flowered one that was to die for. "Itachi?" Kagome whispered and peeked through the door. "Itachi? It's me. Ita-!" She opened the door and stepped closer. She found him with that same girl he was in the docks.

Kissing.

Was this a prank?

Itachi would never do this.

….would he?

Kagome looked to her feet. None of them seemed to notice her, standing there. She squeezed her fists and caught her breath on her throat. Was this tears?

The only time she cried was when she fought with Sango before becoming friends.

Kagome blinked, sending the tears away. She soundlessly turned around and left. She passed by Mikoto who was with her back to her, washing Sasuke's glass of milk. "Kagome-chan-!?"

Kagome did not stop to speak or even look at anyone. She walked straight back at home, to the safety of her room.

Once there, she closed the door and locked herself on the bathroom. She gripped the sink and felt her tears falling down her face. She closed her eyes and bit her lip, preventing a whimper to escape her lips. She had so many things in her head that Sango's image was so blurred that she did not know what to do.

Shisui had promised to find her, although he was right that she had the tendency to do this kind of things. But Itachi cheating on her? That was something she would never guess, he was capable off. Isn't he happy with her? If he isn't, why doing this behind her back and not be straight? To avoid a bigger pain, putting everything in clean plates would make the pain weaker.

"This is not happening." She shook her head and washed her face. She looked to the mirror and more tears began to fall down. That gleam completely gone.

Two days later

She really thought, Itachi would return in the exact same day she had caught him with that girl. But he didn't go to see her at all. She had not put her feet outside her compound either. She managed to hide her pain from her parents and from some old people from her clan.

Kagome stopped caressing the necklace and decided to take it off. She placed inside the box he had given her and closed it. She stared at it for a few moments, before deciding to make her way to the Uchiha complex.

As she walked alone, Kagome quickly pulled up her mask. She reached the entrance and stopped. The girl Itachi was with, was leaned against the wall, with her hands on her pocket. A light blush on her cheeks as she stared at the sky.

"Hi." She greeted sweetly. "Do you need anything?"

Kagome stood frozen in place, staring at her. She walked up to her and placed her hand on Kagome's shoulder. "Are you okay?" She tilted her head to the side and smiled.

"Th…This is for you." Kagome gave her the box and continued idiotically staring at her. She initially planned to give it to Itachi and break up. But looking closely, this girl is definitely an Uchiha.

Figures.

"Hm, what?" She raised an eyebrow and took a few steps back away from Kagome.

"...Itachi requested me to give you this." She held the box and waited for the girl to take it. Which she did happily.

She gasped and squealed in delight. She jumped and hugged Kagome tightly. "Itachi-kun, is so sweet." She caressed the necklace and twirled around in enjoyment.

Kagome retreated and made her way back home, staring at nowhere specifically."Hey, wait." She looked over her shoulder to the girl.

"Y-yes?" She said quietly, not wanting her sad voice to be noticed.

"Who are you?" The girl asked, holding the box between her hands.

Kagome gave her a fake smile and answered. "A nobody."

Afternoon

She did not eat that day. She was lying down on her back on her mother's garden, thinking about the pain in her chest. She sighed deeply as she played with the ends of her long black silky hair. Despite being 14 years old, Kagome was mature as a grown woman. The women on her clan were well known to be like that.

"Kagome." Her mother called. "Kagome, come here sweetie."

She closed her eyes and got up. She went to the kitchen were her mother was. "Yes?"

"I need you to go to the market and buy me some potatoes,. Your brother is bringing his girlfriend to meet us. I have this delicious dish i want to prepare." Her mother said as she washed the vegetables. "Bring some grapes too, please."

"Yes mother." Kagome replied and grabbed her shoes.

"Kagome?" She turned to meet her mother's eyes. "Is everything okay with you?"

"Yes. Why do you ask?"

Her mother stood silent as Kagome turned her back to put her shoes on. "I'll be right back."

"Don't take too long." Her mother replied while continuing to look at Kagome.

As she sadly made her way to the market, Kagome walked with her head down with her arms crossed. On her way, she stopped to look at the docks. She glared at that now empty spot as a sweet voice brought her back from those clouding thoughts. "Kagome?"

She took a deep breath and slowly turned around to meet Itachi. She felt her feet tingling and her heart sinking. She stared at his black eyes as he brought his hand to her face. She jerked her face back before he could touch her.

"Is everything ok?" He asked with a worried expression.

"I have important things to do." She said coldly. "Excuse me." She walked past by him but he quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her to him. She took her hand back and glared. "Don't touch me."

"What's wrong?" He asked but went silent seeing she wasn't wearing the necklace. "Kagome what's-!"

"It's over, Itachi. I don't want to be with you or even see you." She said in a low hurtful tone. She successfully managed to prevent her tears to fall down. "Please, leave me alone. Please…."

"What are you talking about? Kagome…." He got closer but she retreated. Itachi's eyes melted into sad ones before calling her name once more. "Kagome….I…."

"You don't have to, Uchiha-san." Kagome sighed and turned around to leave. "You just…don't have to."

Itachi continued to stare at her as she ran to the busy market. He squeezed his fists in anger as her figure disappeared between the small crowd.
