Clementine ran as fast as her legs could take her. Everything was gone. The safety of the prison, her survivor group and the last two people she has known since this whole apocalypse has gone down. She wasn't sure if Glenn made it out in time but he wasn't doing too well in quarantine so who knows if anybody truly got him out or not. As for Hershel…

Hershel and Michonne kneeled in front of The Governor. Rick pleaded that they could all live together but in the end nothing and none of what he said got through… it ended with a one word response "Liar" and then he swung Michonne's sword.

Clementine covered her eyes then, the sight being too gruesome for the eleven year old. Hershel, the man at first she thought was rude for kicking them out soon turned into the old man she loved to have around. Now he was dead. Headless, legless, and not coming back as himself, but as a walker.

Clementine started crying she wanted to unwitness everything that had just happened to her but it kept replaying in her mind over and over. Another traumatizing moment to add to her nightmares except this time she was alone.

She looked around in the chaos that followed Hershel's beheading and saw no one except walkers. She had to get out of here before they walkers turned their attention to her instead of the burning prison.

She ran for what seemed like hours and didn't stop even though her lungs were screaming for air. She couldn't stop running. They ran from the pharmacy, the motel, the St. John "dairy", Savannah, and now the prison. She was tired of being left alone. Sick of being left alone.

She finally stopped running through the woods deciding to catch her breath. She pushed back more tears deciding it wasn't the time to be a cry baby and to keep moving. She was lucky to have her backpack with her when all hell broke loose because it had her only picture of Lee in it plus some survival items like a lighter, rope, bandages and her sweater. She sat on a log and unzipped her back pack deciding to make a fire before it got dark. But before pulling out her lighter her fingers grazed the picture and she decided to pull it out. She held it tight staring at it. Lee looked happy… It reminded her of the dream she had of him just last night. She smiled at the conversation they had.

"I'll never forget you Lee." She said putting the picture in her backpack and starting her small fire.

As it was getting darker, the sun setting Clementine decided to put out her fire and set up camp for the night. She looked around the woods for anything she could possibly make to make sure she will be alerted if walkers get close but couldn't find anything. She thought back to what she had learned over the last two and a half years and remembered a story Duck had told him.

They were sitting in the motel colouring when Duck decided to tell Clementine a story about how some guy on a TV show he once watched got stuck in a tree because some sort of animal was chasing him and he had to wait the animal out in the tree until it got bored and left him alone.

Clementine sighed remembering Duck. He was always filled with enthusiasm and he always told the most entertaining and funny stories.

She thought back to his story. The man ended up sleeping in the tree and not even the animal could reach him. He was safe for the night as long as he didn't fall out of the tree.

Clementine looked around and spotted a bigger tree. She placed everything in her backpack and put her foot on one of the branches.

"Looks sturdy enough… Here I go.."

She cautiously lifted herself up on the branch and waited. When hearing no sounds of the branch being under stress or about to break she continued her way up until she was at a decent height. She placed her back against the trunk and felt the fear of being up too high and that she could fall at any moment. Slowly sliding off her backpack she opened it up trying to find anything she could use.

"Yes" She whispered when her fingers wrapped around the object she was hoping to find. Rope. She could tie herself to the tree trunk and try and get some sleep. She wrapped the rope around her legs securing herself to the branch and attempted to fall asleep.

Before dosing off she quietly whispered, "Thanks Duck"

She was lucky she didn't toss or turn in her sleep or else she would be in real trouble.

Another day went by and Clementine was giving up hope. She successfully slept in the tree the night before but felt really sore during the day so decided it wasn't worth the trouble to find a tree and attempt to sleep in it. So for the rest of the day she hiked through the woods dodging stragglers and killing the walkers that go too close for comfort. She still had Lee's gun in her backpack and it was out of bullets but she wouldn't have wanted to use it anyways, it would just drag more unwanted attention to her. She ate berries off of bushes, looking for the ones Hershel and Daryl told her were okay to eat and if she didn't recognize them she would just leave them. Better be safe than sorry she always thought, but the berries were good but they weren't very satisfying. She needed to find more food soon.

She could still see the smoke from the prison in the distance and felt a pang of sadness sweep over her. It was at this moment she realized she may never see anyone from the prison again. Where they dead? She didn't know that but they would be long gone if they did happen to get out.

It was starting to get dark again and Clementine already decided sleeping in a tree sucked. She decided to get out of the woods and go on to the local roads maybe finding some sort of car to hang out in for the night maybe even two. It took her half an hour to finally get out of the woods and she was surprised to see the road was empty. Not a car was in sight alone the long stretch of road. She frowned but then noticed in the distance across from her and the road there was a small cabin. She smiled at the thought of maybe finding a bed to sleep in for the night, even a couch would make her somewhat happy. But most of all she hoped for someone to be there, someone nice, some one she could trust.

She quickly ran to the cabin not wanting to stay outside while it was getting dark. She ran up to the door quicker than she thought and slowly climbed up the porch steps. It was a small cabin but it looked pretty cosy. She noticed the large rocking chair lightly swinging with then wind and went up to the door.

She loudly knocked on the door waiting to see if an walkers were inside. All she heard was silence. She knocked again for good measures and still heard silence. Well there were no walkers, she thought. She tried the door knob and it was locked.

"great" She said sarcastically.

She looked around for another way in. maybe a window or another door. She circled the cabin and managed to find a small window that was far up but not covered up. She went around the front of the cabin and grabbed the old rocking chair off the porch placing it in front of the window. She could hear a couple walkers somewhere behind her but it didn't sound too close so she attempted to open the window as quietly as she could.

"Are you kidding me?" She called out when the window wouldn't budge. Her voice was too loud and she noticed that she attracted the walkers and they were slowly limping over to her.

"Crap!" She said before frantically trying to get the window to open. She looked back again expecting to be face to face with hungry walkers but noticed the walkers hadn't actually seen her but instead just heard her and they were making their way over to inspect what made the noise. They were going to spot her soon enough if she didn't do something to open that window.

She got off the rocking chair and walked around the other side of the cabin noticing a pile of bricks. She picked one up and weighed her options. She could either:

A) Ditch the cabin and find another tree in the dark.

B) Attempt to kill the walkers even though she is tired, weak, and hungry.

C) Use the brick to break the window and risk getting caught by those walkers.

She decided on plan C: break the window even though that puts her at risk for getting eaten. She made her way over to the window and got back up on the rocking chair.

"Only got one shot… I can do this" She said under her breath.

She gazed back over to the walkers and decided it was either now or never. She threw the brick as hard as she could and it smashed right through the window with a loud crash. She prayed there were no walkers inside the house and started to climb through the window. She screamed as one of the walkers had made their way over to her and was trying to grab her feet. She pulled herself up into the window as fast as she could getting away from the walker but managed to cut her hand on the broken glass as she was doing it.

She looked at her bloody hand and sighed in relief. At least it was only her hand and not her life. She grabbed her water and bandages out of her backpack. She cleaned and examined her wound remembering what Lee, Hershel, Dr. S, and Carol had taught her. The wound wasn't deep so just disinfecting it and bandaging it up should be good. The disinfectant she had kept in her backpack stung but she was glad to have it on her.

After getting cleaned up she looked around the one room cabin and saw that it was in fact empty. She also smiled seeing the couch in the corner of the room. Things were starting to look up for the girl.
