Chapter 3:

Tsuna went to his office and sat on his chair while signing some paperwork. What happened earlier was a huge slap on his face and left a throbbing pain in his heart. He had to bite his lips to stop himself from sobbing so that no one will hear him. But every now and then, his eyes would just defy him. He could feel hot tears pooling in his eyes threatening to fall. He blinked a couple of times, straightened his back and slightly shook his head ignoring the pain.

He knows he should give up anytime soon. He knows he has to stop these feelings of him. But he kept torturing himself. Reborn's Spartan training was nothing compared to this pain. But he was also aware that moving on is not the easiest thing to do.

A knock on his door brought him back to reality. He looked up at the door and answered.

"Yes?"

"Tsuna-sama, a letter came for you. May I come in?"

"Ah Basil… yes, you may" Tsuna replied

Slowly the door opened revealing Basil holding a white envelope sealed with an unknown crest. Basil went over to Tsuna and gave it to him.

"hmmm… what's this? M…Mill..fi…o…re…? Millfiore? It's my first time seeing this kind of crest" Tsuna said curiously eyeing it with suspicion

"A family looking for alliance, maybe? I've never heard of that family before Tsuna-sama. Enemy?" Basil added cautiously

"I don't know. Thank you for your hard work, Basil. You can return to your post now" Tsuna smiled

"Good day sir, just call me if you ever need something" Basil bowed as he exited the office.

Tsuna's eyes furrowed. What could this letter be? He took a small knife from his drawer and used it to rip the envelope to open it. As he took the letter out from the envelope a sky flame emerged at the top of the paper.

'A letter from another boss… what's this!" Tsuna's mouth went agape as he looked at the letter alarmed of what's written on it.

Hello, Vongola Decimo~

How are you? Are you doing fine? Ahaha! Of course you are! I know! Cause I always watch you from afar. I know what you're doing right now and what you're family too! Aren't you tired of crying? Oh booo~ I'm so sorry ne? Psyche! I'm not sorry though hahaha! It's fun watching you suffer! I bet your boyfriends are suffering too? Oh, the joy of inflicting pain to other people! Anyway~ won't you come over at my place for some marshmallows and a cup of tea? I bet you want to talk with about that "plane crash". And what I did to your brother and his lovers. Oh, do come alone ne? I'll know if you bring someone. Don't want to put others in danger right?

P.S. Oh yeah Telephone number! 0476-XX-XXXX

Love,
B.

"B? Who the hell is B? And to threaten me like this! How underhanded!." Tsuna stood up from his chair violently while holding the paper almost crumpling it. He took a deep breath.

'what should I do? One wrong move and everyone might be in danger? I can't risk more lives!' He thought while pulling on his hair.

His eyes darted over the telephone at the corner of his office and that was the biggest decision he had ever made.

'I have to go alone' and that's final.

Flashback:

Mukuro knew that ever since he was child he was different. His parents left him. His sister died because of him. Even his friends were disgusted of him. He was five then when he and his sister Chrome was sold by their parents to some laboratory for experimentation because of some lack of money. They said it was for "FUTURE KNOWLEDGE" that could be "HELPFUL" to the humanity. But all they ever did was inject different chemicals and substances again and again. A hundred times. A thousand. Until he couldn't even count anymore. They started with her sister first. And even though how many times he begged them to stop they continued what they were doing until everything he had left was gone and dead. He was filled with remorse, and hatred. He kept himself strong and as he found courage he didn't know what has gotten into him. Everything went blank. And all he could remember were people dressed in white lab coats sprawled over the floor and a huge explosion that happened after he stabbed one of them. He sat in a corner of the laboratory holding a shard of glass. His knees were brought together to his chest as he buried his head on them. He was safe now, right?. His eyes felt heavy that time and his ears were ringing loudly. There was a lot of noise around him. The door burst open and the police entered immediately.

"Kid, are you alright? Sir, we have survivor here!" Lifting Mukuro up, the police man quickly covered him with a cloth and brought him outside.

The glaring heat of the sun struck Mukuro's eyes. 'I've never seen the sky look so beautiful in such a long time' he sighed inwardly. He smiled in relief. At last he was free. But the guilt, pain and sadness never left his heart and mind. He longed for that feeling of acceptance and as he was growing up he yearned for it even more.

After he was saved from burning laboratory and after knowing that all they were doing was illegal, he was sent into an orphanage and there he met Ken and Chikusa who, blindly, followed him everywhere he went. The three grew up to be close friends. When he was already 6, he went to elementary school together with Ken and Chikusa and there he met a certain Dame-Tsuna. He was famous and something like that. He was so pathetic that no one wants to be his friend. He was clumsy too. And he saw himself in him. The feeling of no one wanting to be by your side. The feeling of being alone.

It was playtime that day and everyone was in the playground when Mukuro found little Tsunayoshi in the sand box playing alone. Tsuna kept his head low and fiddled with the sand. Mukuro could see the sadness in those big brown orbs.

"Hey, you!" Mukuro called but didn't get a response. And then he called again. A vein popped on his head and he decided to shake the boy out of his stupor.

"HIEEEE!" He heard Dame-Tsuna shrieked. He winced "R-R-Rokudo-san!" Tsuna said

"You know me?" Mukuro asked

"W-Well, everyone in our section talks about you so…. U-umm a-anyway! Do you need anything Rokudo-san?" Tsuna stuttered Mukuro was amused

"Kufufufufu~ you can call me Mukuro. From now on we are friends" Mukuro replied bluntly. Tsuna looked at him owlishly and blinked a good number of times before he finally registered what he had just said.

"E-EH? But you… um… I mean… Y-yes! I want to be friends with Rokudo-san!" Tsuna gave him a bright smile while nodding vigorously. Boy was he happy!

"Kufufufufu. Can I call you Tsuna then?" Mukuro asked

"Y-Yes, I would be glad! M-Mukuro…" Mukuro's name drawled in his tongue

Mukuro was interested in this kid. He was happy. and soon they were talking nonstop.

Unknown to them, a certain skylark watches from afar analyzing their every move.

"Kids! It's time to go home now. Pack your things up~" Their school teacher said in a her singsong voice.

After that they arranged themselves and readied to go home. Tsuna, Mukuro, Ken and Chikusa walked side by side with each other. Tsuna recently knew these two are Mukuro's friends from orphanage.

"Tsuna~!" A voice called and Tsuna looked over to where the voice came from

"Gio-nii!" Tsuna ran over to his so-called brother and tackled him to the ground "Gio-nii I made friends today! This is Mukuro, Ken and Chikusa!" Tsuna said excitedly as he pointed to each one of them.

"well hello there little one! I'm glad you are friends with Tsuna~" Giotto smiled warmly.

Never in his life had he met someone who was as warm as the sun. And from that day on… Mukuro knew that this person is something else. He knew that this person had brought back light to him. He came to realize that Giotto became more and more important to him as the years passed by.

00000

He remembered the past again. Giotto. His warm smiles. But lately, it doesn't feel right anymore. He loves Giotto with all his heart but, but as the image of Tsuna looking at him with painful eyes replayed in his mind, he can't help but feel guilty. Tsuna was not like this. Even though he was hurt Tsuna remained strong for him. Tsuna was always the one to sacrifice. 'he sacrificed too much for us' then he remembered the shameful thing he and Kyouya did earlier. They were too ignorant.

Mukuro closed his eyes and saw an image of Tsuna. He was smiling at him brightly. He was laughing and it sounded music to Mukuro's ears. It was then he realized that he doesn't want to see him hurt nor crying. Tsuna is also important to him. He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. He was such an idiot. A big one at that.

"Mukuro, I love you"

Those words kept ringing in his ears over and over again. 'Shit' he cursed as he felt a familiar pain in his heart. 'Tsuna is all I have left now I don't want him gone. I don't know what to do if I lose him too.' His eyes widened in realization and understanding. Tsuna is his everything. His heart beats faster and faster. He has to talk to Tsuna. He has to tell him everything. He has to tell him that he loves him. He stood up and ran towards Tsuna's office. Oh God, he has many things to say. As he arrived at the door of the office, he took a deep breath and opened it.

"Tsuna!" Mukuro called. He scanned the room but no one was there. His eyes fell on the letter on the office table he reached for and quickly read it. Mukuro's heart sank, his eyes were terrified. He was panicking inside. He punched the table hardly and once again, he cursed.

"This can't be fucking happening. Shit"

I'll be gone for a long time… I don't know when I'm coming back. But maybe I won't. I love you.

It was Tsuna's handwriting alright! And even though it was general he knew that I love you meant so much more. It was their fault. 'Kyouya and I were so cold to him' Moreover, Mukuro blames himself the most. He brought the letter with him and quickly searched for the Arcobaleno and the Guardians to inform them about this.

"I just hope you're safe Tsuna…" He said, voice filled with hope.
