Hello :) I know... it's been FOREVER since I've updated any of my stories, but I found time to write another chapter :) Enjoy!

June and Elizabeth had packed a beach bag, and headed out to the ocean.

"Are you sure about this?" Elizabeth nervously eyed the waves lapping over the sand, "what if someone sees?"

"Oh please! We're mermaids now, remember? We can just swim away!" June replied to her worried friend.

"We could get caught in a net! Or what if it was some crazy day dream?" Elizabeth continued pestering June.

"You ask too many questions. Come on, it's now or never." June set down the bag on a nearby bench, and walked up to the shoreline with Elizabeth.

"Ok...on three, we jump in, ok?" June asked. Elizabeth nodded in response, but seemed hesitant.

"Ok." June took a deep breath, "one..."

"Two..." Elizabeth continued.

"Three!" June leaped into the water, while it took Elizabeth some time to convince herself to do so. June's head popped out of the water with a bright smile on her face. Her tangerine tail had appeared under the water. Elizabeth had come up to the surface with her voilet tail, and instantly forgot why she was even nervous. She had wanted this for her whole life, and now she had it.

"See? This is no crazy day dream, we're mermaids! Real mermaids!" June excitedly splashed around.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go swimming!" Elizabeth went under the surface of the water, and began swimming. It seemed like an instinct to have her arms out in front while she glided along the coral beds. June had gotten the hang of swimming as well, and they both scoured the ocean floor, enjoying the moment. After some time, the two mermaids surfaced.

"This is amazing! We get to see things nobody else sees, swim the ocean floor without worrying about how much oxygen we have left, and we-" June's excited statement was cut short.

"Someone might hear you!" Elizabeth hushed her friend.

"There's no one out here, it's just us." June reminded the brunette.

"I still can't believe this." Elizabeth shook her head as she admired her scales from above the water, "do you think we should head back to your house?"

"Maybe. My mom could be heading home by now, and if she sees we're gone, she'll flip." June replied. The teenagers went under the water, and quickly swam back to the beach.

~Later~

The girls had washed up onshore, and luckily no one was around.

"How will we dry off without anyone noticing?" Elizabeth asked.

"Remember your power? Let's try it again, and see if it works." June suggested, taking a strand of seaweed off of her shoulder. Elizabeth made a fist, and concentrated on June's tail. June had gained legs within a few seconds, and then Elizabeth focused on drying herself off. She sighed in relief as her legs in denim shorts became visible.

~Later~

June and Elizabeth had snuck in through the back door just as June's mother came home.

"Girls! I'm home!" She bellowed from downstairs, "and I have some people I want you to meet!"

"Coming, mom!" June exited her room with Elizabeth, and went downstairs to see what her mother wanted.

"I'd like you to meet an old friend of mine from high school, Joanne." June's mother gestured to the woman next to her. Joanne had fiery orange hair, and dazzling blue eyes.

"I've heard so much about you June, it's lovely to meet you." Joanne shook June's hand, "who's this?"

"This is Elizabeth, and she's a close friend of mine." June introduced her shy friend.

"Hi..." Elizabeth greeted the older woman.

"You know what? I have a daughter that's your age, maybe you all could get to know each other." Joanne suggested to the girls, "in fact, she's actually in the car waiting for me, so why don't you say hello?"

"Sure!" June nodded as Joanne went out to her car. Shortly after, she returned with a young girl with jet black hair that she had most likely inherited from her father, and she had emerald green eyes.

"Everyone, this is Mandy." Joanne introduced her daughter.

"Hi!" Mandy greeted. The girls noticed how friendly she was.

"Hello, I'm June, and this is Elizabeth, a good friend of mine." June smiled to Mandy.

"Your name is gorgeous!" Elizabeth said.

"Thank you. Do you all want to hang out while our mothers are chatting?" Mandy suggested. The girls agreed, and they went up to June's room.

~Later~

"Wow, you sure do like mermaids..." Mandy admired the books she had, not to mention some little trinkets as well, "I think they're cool."

"Really?" Elizabeth asked. Mandy nodded. She seemed very intrigued as she flipped through a book on mermaid mythology. Then, Elizabeth noticed something odd. Mandy was wearing a beautiful necklace. It seemed very familiar...until she realized that it was the exact same as her's and June's, except it had a light green moonstone in the center.

"June!" Elizabeth whispered as she eyed Mandy's necklace once more, "look at her necklace! I think she's a mermaid too!" June took notice of the necklace as well.

"Oh, so we should ask her 'hey, are you a mermaid? 'Cause we are!' This is a delicate topic, it needs to stay a secret." June went up to Mandy.

"So...you said you like mermaids, too?"

"Yes. Why?" Mandy all of the sudden seemed secretive, and like she was hiding something.

"Nothing, I was just curious." June replied. Mandy saw the necklace that June was wearing.

"Nice necklace...where'd you get it?" June got nervous. What if it was some crazy coincidence?

"Umm, I found it on the beach." June made sure to keep her response as casual sounding as she could make it.

"This is a crazy question, but are you...are you guys mermaids?" Mandy asked. The girls grew nervous.

"What kind of a question is that?" Elizabeth asked, "just because June has some mythology books makes you think that we're mermaids?"

"No, I'm just wondering." Mandy grabbed a bottle of water sitting on the dresser, "so if I poured this on you, you wouldn't get a tail?"

"N-no. You know what?" Elizabeth looked outside, "it's getting late. Why don't you and your mother go home?" Before she knew it, Mandy had poured the water onto Elizabeth.

"You heard she said no, why did you-hey!" June squealed as Mandy poured the remaining water from the bottle on her. The girls toppled over in tails, completely mortified.

"Um, it's not what it looks like-" Elizabeth's sentence was interrupted.

"Hey! Relax! I'm one, too." Mandy smiled, "I'm sorry, I just wanted to know that I wasn't alone."

"You're serious?" June asked, "you have a tail?"

"Yes, it matches my necklace." Mandy looked down at her pendant.

~Later~

"The color is beautiful!" Elizabeth admired the light green scales on Mandy's tail that shimmered in the light. She decided to show the girls her tail.

"How long have you had it?" June asked.

"It's been almost a year now. Next Friday will be my one year anniversary." Mandy replied.

"It's only been a day for us. We went to the beach on Friday afternoon, and we found these necklaces along with a note." June explained. Mandy prepared to tell her story

"I was snorkeling alone, and I found my necklace stuck on some coral. I would've left it alone, but something told me to put it on. It was a full moon that day, and I think that's what triggered my transformation."

"Is it hard avoiding water?" Elizabeth asked.

"For the first few months, it was. I've gotten used to it by now though." Mandy replied.

"Here, let me dry you off." Elizabeth offered as she balled up her fist. Within seconds, Mandy's tail disappeared.

"You can heat things up? Cool! I can freeze things." Mandy smiled.

"I found that I can control water!" June added.

~Later that night~

"It was so nice meeting you!" June smiled as Mandy and her mother walked out to their car.

"I'll text you guys later! Bye!" Mandy waved to the girls as she got into the car with her mother. Shortly after, they drove away. The girls headed back inside to continue their weekend-long sleepover.

~Later~

"I got a text from Mandy!" Elizabeth said, "she asked if we liked swimming at night."

"We've only been swimming once, and it was daytime." June replied, making some orbs of water from her vase full of flowers.

"She also asked if we wanted to come along with her to go swimming. She said that the coral reefs are really pretty at night. I'm up for it!" Elizabeth smiled.

"That sounds really fun, let's go!" June and Elizabeth snuck out of the house again while June's mother was sleeping to meet Mandy on the beach.
