Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey. Its been a while. Ok lets get cracking.
Idle reading
Lucy was in the library reading. It was a few years after that night. She had become accustomed to life as an agent of Hellsing. She was as budding into a beautiful young woman though she was still a child. She began wearing hats in order to hide her horns to keep the new recruits from prodding her with questions. She didn't particularly hate humans anymore but that didn't mean she liked them. There were a few she liked though. She didn't view them as a malignant and hateful race anymore. Anytime she was harassed by some hotshot newbie the others usually took care of it. She didn't need to lift a finger. It was like suddenly she was thrust into this huge family. Something she always wanted.
The sixteen year-old diclonius curled up and flipped the page in the journal she was reading. It was a private journal of Mina Harker, or a copy of it anyway. The woman that Alucard fixated on during his time here. The woman that led to his downfall. She found it in the old library. No one went there anymore so she just took a few journals. It was really boring at first. Half of her damn journal were about trivial things. Her fiance, her best friend, her wanting to help her fiance as soon as he came back from Transylvania, Also something about some old sailor she knew. She didn't really pay attention. She started skipping chapters and landed on a certain page. She started reading the contents and then started to blush. "No...what...He didn't..."
As she kept reading more and more her face went from pink to dark red. Her legs closed together tightly and she started feeling strange. There was so much detail. It was almost sickening that she wrote down this much. She was completely engrossed with the "fiction" she did not hear the footsteps behind her. The vampire in question loomed over her shoulders with a malignant smile.
"Ah. I knew that volume was missing. Are you enjoying it?"
Lucy looked up and saw who it was. Her face turned into a deeper shade of red. The embarrassment of being caught reading this by him. Her gaze then turned to a spiteful glare. The kind of glare that made her infamous among the hellsing staff and some of the soldiers were absolutely terrified of her for. This expression made the vampire grin more.
"It seemed interesting but it turned out to be the ramblings of a dead woman."
The vampire made a little growl. Lucy still didn't know what growls meant to him. It wasn't like a snarl or one of those hallowed screams that he makes during a hunt. It was one of those growls that meant he was either excited, interested, bored, angry, happy. You pick and that is what it was.
"You're lying."
"No I'm not!" She flustered. He was beginning to piss her off. Alucard knew this and while he wanted so badly to cause her to loose control and lash out at him, he was here for a different reason.
"We have a mission. A town is being over run. Walter says that there is a small coven of vampires. It should be fun."
"Heh. I needed a bit of a stretch."
"Then lets not dally."
Lucy smirked putting down her book and getting up. The vampire was already gone by the time she looked back up. Damn him. He took a head start.
"Hey! Wait for me!"
Exercise
Walter watched the girl run through the training exercise. He smiled pleasantly watching her progress. She leaped over the obstacles through use of her vectors. through using her otherworldly limbs she was able to overcome near impossible feats in less than a few seconds. She was able to jump higher and farther than the usual run of the mill vampire. She was just as fast as a young fledgling by using her vectors to maneuver though she couldn't comprehend her speed thus causing her to make errors such as slamming into a wall or missing targets completely. She couldn't The girl was more useful against ghouls and vampires that were just a few years old. Anything older than that she would require back up.
Though it was rare to run into a vampire older than just a few years. All of the old ones were either dead or keeping to themselves. Some were either known and killed by Hellsing, some were deemed not a threat and others were simply not noticeable. Alucard had said that since his capture 100 years ago and how famous that story had become others like him were keeping to themselves not wanting the same fate. When Lucy asked if there was any vampire more powerful than him, he laughed at her and simply said
'If there was then he or she would have slaughtered this entire organization decades ago.'
This was fact. While they truly did not know if there was something more powerful than Alucard, there was more than enough evidence to suggest that there isn't.
Walter kept watching the Diclonius. She was impressive but she wasn't flexible enough. Lucy used her vectors to jump in the air. Lucy was getting cocky. Arrogance was a bad sign for someone like her. She used her vectors again to twist her body in the air. The butler frowned at her arrogance. It got people killed. Sure it was fine for Alucard because he was usually dispatched by himself to confront the vampire causing the trouble alone. Lucy on the other hand was dispatched with the soldiers and acted as a scout for Alucard. If she made a mistake then the whole operation would be hindered but not become an utter failure. In the grand scheme of things, she was there for efficiency.
She grinned widely at flying through the air. The obstacle coarse was too easy and so were the hunts. All she did was dispatch ghouls and the younger vampires. It was nothing. The range of her vectors even increased another two meters meaning that she was that much more dangerous. This increase of deadliness made her arrogant and rash in her decisions on the battlefield. How she reminded her of himself when he was younger.
Walter frowned as he came to realize this. He would need to break that aspect of her. His eyes cold and merciless, he donned his black gloves and jumped down to the field. As she hurtled over another wall as he swung his hand like a wave sending out the threads of death. They flew at the speed of a bullet when he felt them wrapped around the target. Though when his eyes caught up they were not binding the girl like he had thought. The wires were being blocked by nothing. An invisible barrier stood between them. Lucy landed in a clumsy manner as she turned her head to him. "You know Walter if you wanted my attention, all you had to do was use the intercom." She asked in a puzzled tone.
Walter kept his composure but it was quite a shock to see her actually anticipate his movement even during a completely unpredictable scenario such as this ambush. "The correct terminology is "All you would have to do.'. Not 'All you had to do.'. You aren't American use English properly."
"Awwww come on Walter. English isn't even my first language. Cut me some slack."
"Regardless this training session is over. Go clean up and prepare for dinner." He said letting a moment go by before saying. "I will be preparing you your favorite dish tonight."
Lucy brightened up when she heard that. "Yes!" She declared jumping up and down and running into the mansion. Walter couldn't help but smile at how ridiculous the girl acted as he followed.
