Forever and Always

Chapter 3

Disclaimer: I do not own Hetalia

Hey guys. It's been forever since I've worked on this story. Well, know I'm back and I'm ready to write. This may also be due to the way my schedule is I have three hours to kill between classes. So here you go and please enjoy~

Amelia heaved herself off the couch as the phone rang. "Hello?" she answered as she leaned against the wall with a hand on her now six month belly. Easy things began to become difficult for her like getting up off the couch or bending over.

"Is this Amelia?" the voice asked.

"Yes it is" Amelia answered and slightly furrowed her eyebrows.

"This is the nurse for your doctor. The results of the tests we did when you were here for your sixth month check up are in. He would like both you and your husband to come in for the report. He would also like you to come as soon as tomorrow" the nurse said in a way that was clear that she made these types of phone calls all day long.

"Is there something wrong?" she asked in an almost panicked tone as she pressed her had harder against her stomach in sort of a protective way.

"The doctor will go over everything tomorrow. Is one o'clock alright?" she asked and the keys of a keyboard could be heard.

"Yes, that's fine. Thank you" she hung up and began chewing on her bottom lip. She paced around for a bit before she tried to distract her thoughts with preparing dinner.

By the time Arthur got home Amelia was about to fall apart at the seams.

"Amelia, love, what on Earth is the matter? Did something happen?" he asked and wrapped his arms around her.

Amelia buried her face into Arthur's chest. "The nurse from the doctor's office called today and said that the doc wants both of us to come in tomorrow to go over the results of some tests. When I asked if everything was alright the nurse sort of avoided my question." Amelia said and shook slightly.

Arthur squeezed her reassuringly and kissed his forehead. "I'm sure nothing is wrong, love. Everything will be perfectly fine."

Amelia gripped onto the back of Arthur's shirt as she began crying, all of them spilling out at once since she had been holding them in all day. Arthur rubbed her back and looked up to see dinner only half prepared and nothing really cooked. "There, there. Try to calm down now. Let's go out for dinner so you don't have to stress yourself out anymore tonight, alright?"

Amelia nodded and wiped her tears away. She pulled away from Arthur and went to turn off the stove. He grabbed her coat for her and they headed out to dinner.

The next afternoon Arthur took off from work and headed to the doctor's office with her. Amelia fidgeted nervously as they waited. Arthur kept a hand on her knee to try to keep her calm. Soon enough they were called back were they did more waiting.

"Sorry for your wait" the doctor said as he came in. "It's been pretty busy today. Thank you for both coming?"

"So what do the results say?" Amelia said quickly. She was tired of waiting and she wanted a direct answer now.

The doctor sighed as he took one last look over the papers. "Well, getting right to the point it would seem that there is a very high chance that your baby could have Down syndrome."

Amelia froze as the words echoed through her ears. No, there couldn't be anything wrong with her baby, it just wasn't possible. These things happened to other people, not her, not her baby.

"So there's a chance that he won't?" Arthur asked since Amelia really couldn't at the moment.

The doctor nodded. "Yes, but it would pretty much take a miracle. I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do. I have compiled a few pamphlets of information and there are many sources online you should look at for learning about this type of thing. He handed Arthur the papers and Arthur thanked him. "Other than that everything else is perfectly fine."

Arthur stood and helped Amelia up with him. He thanked the doctor and left. Amelia stayed in her shell shocked state all the way from the doctor's office back to their house. She didn't even realize they had left until Arthur was helping her sit down on the couch. Amelia looked up at Arthur and her bottom lip began to quiver.

Arthur gave her a sad look and sat beside her. He hugged her tightly as Amelia broke down into a sobbing mess. The two of them stayed that way for a good thirty minutes. Arthur even let a few tears slip from his eyes as well but only when Amelia wasn't looking.

"Oh, Arthur" she sobbed as she tried to wipe her tears away, "our baby."

He hugged her tightly again. "I know love but we can deal with this. He's still our baby and we will love him just the same no matter what."

"I-I know that. Of course I still love him just as much but…" she couldn't finish due to her choking up.

"I know, love, I know" he closed his eyes and let her sob since there was nothing else he could really do.

I know this chapter has been really short. I have an outline I go by and some chapters are just shorter than others. Anyway, please review and leave comments or suggestions. Thanks for reading.
