To the guest that left a review, you know, saying what's wrong doesn't help me make the story better if you don't tell me how or why it's wrong you know? If you had an account I'd actually be able to get to you to find out but... you don't so, this doesn't really help.
So as a quick response to your review.
1. When doesn't Natsu get along with everyone? I mean the only one you actually see that happen with is Gray, and Jellal for a while. It's not that he has to get along with the tsundere character, just what would you expect?
2. His big speech if you think about it. I pretty much had him apply Fairy Tail's rules to Remnant. Fairy Tail is willing to accept everyone so long as they are willing to forgive what they have done (Like Juvia, Gajeel, and Crime Sorciere). He's just getting her to realize that she can't hide behind her title (That and it was an excuse for me not to have her be a brat and so I can stop saying she's an heiress, because I tend to run titles and status dry.)
3. I'm more upset you think I'm made for something as simple as that. You seem sincere, but if you told me how and why they were bad scenes/chapter, that's when it's a critique/review.
NOTE OF ERROR:
Previously in chapter one I mentioned he had eleven gate keys, this is an error on my part as he only has ten.
HUGE chapter, you're welcome! (Bit of a gift)
As Natsu was talking to his 'possible' team members, Weiss was wondering who the boy was. After time had gone by she took thought to what he meant. She was Weiss Schnee, there was nothing she couldn't do if she had to.
She was trained to fight things much worse then mindless beasts. These were nothing short of pathetic.
However there was one thing that plagued her mind ever since he just vanished. It was the curiosity of who he was and where was he. Unlike the other students who were excited for their initiation, she was looking for the pink haired teen. Watching for any sign of him. If anything that was what she desired to know the most and it annoyed her. How some imbecile managed to get her attention is getting to her.
While she walked she looked for him, it was a gamble, but he could be stronger than her and that would make him a better choice. At least, to her assumption from the people she knew. He was definitely the second person, right behind Pyrrah, but that is only because the others she doesn't know much, but he just seemed... experienced.
There was something about the teen that oozed off talent from him. Was it a semblance? Strength? Sure she may have ridiculed him earlier, but he still got into Beacon, without a weapon means he is either a highly capable dust user, or he wasn't joking about being one of the best hand-to-hand combat user where he's from.
A small rustle in the bushes drew her attention in, she turned and instantly regretted it. "Uh... hi?"
It was the girl who nearly blew up her off Beacon. One, Ruby Rose.
Without a second thought Weiss turned and began to walk forward. "W-wait! We're supposed to be partners!"
Not a single reply was given, at least, until she saw another person pinned to a tree via javelin. "Hi? Um... mind getting me down?"
Weiss turned back around and grabbed Ruby by the back of her collar. "You are the lesser of two evils." She groaned internally, if it wasn't Pyrrah why not the other boy, at least he seemed talented compared to these two nameless people.
"Wait! I could use some..." Jaune sighed, "help."
"Hello there," A voice called out and he saw that it was Pyrrah, "So... is there still room for 'Team Jaune'?" She asked jokingly.
Weiss on the other hand, was having much more difficulty getting to cooperate with her, now permanent partner and team member. "Just try not to hold me back, and do not lag behind."
As these two were getting more acquainted with one another, on the other edge of the forest were Nora and Ren, the latter having just defeated a King Taijitu, and the former appearing before her friend.
"Nora, I told you sloths don't make noise." Ren smiled at his childhood friend.
To which she tapped his noise in reply, "Boop."
Lastly was Yang, she was casually strolling through the forest, "Ruby? Ruby? Ugh, where are you little sis?" Just then the bush rustled.
She smirked thinking her sister was trying to be sneaky, which was not going to happen with how much of a klutz she is. "Ru...by?"
Instead of her black haired red tipped sister, she found a pair of Ursa staring her down. The white masks with red details along with their black fur(?).
In this situation about 75% of the world would first run, 15% would quickly faint, freeze, or just stare back, another 9.99% would punch first, so where us that last 0.01%? Simple, that part would crack a small joke.
"Nope." She said with a grin and jumped back as she jumped back while the bear charged. Within seconds she had gone back in and began to attack it directly, shooting explosive rounds in it's face and stomach. Round after round and fist after fist, Yang attacked it relentlessly, but the damned creature would not just let up!
That is... until a single golden strand of hair was caught in Yang's view. Nobody messes with the Xao-Long girl's hair, nobody. "You... YOU MONSTER!" Her hair caught fire and amethyst eyes turned to a dark red garnet. Once she yelled that she went into a rabid fury of random punches and shots, it would be extremely surprising if a master, let alone a grimm, could predict what she was doing.
Once the beast had fallen over she turned to the other one and in her anger induced state lifted her arms up once more as she cried, "You want a piece of me!?"
However the grimm suddenly fell backwards, and it behind it was Blake Belladonna. "Eh...he... I could have taken it." She said calming down, to which Blake smiled. "So... partners?"
"It appears so." She said simply.
"You're one of those girls of simple words aren't you?" Yang asked, but, rather expected, her answer was a very subtle nod.
It was at this moment that Natsu was allowed to be launched, having all pairs been made.
He loved the feeling of flight, these moments he had with Happy, flying, defeating bad guys, he sure did miss the blue exceed. However this wasn't on his mind, 'I'll just give them a show they'll never forget!' He thought with absolute pride before disappearing in a flash...
Only for him to end up in an Queen Taijitu's dwelling. While most are familiar with the standard King Taijitu, the Emperor Taijitu is not that different... except for one tiny detail.
The beast opened it's eyes and began to chase him. Natsu knew when to run and started to get out as quickly as he could, but he refused to use his lightning spell to get out, it was highly unlikely he could get the energy to do so again, not to mention it wasn't used for long distance, most of the time it was close and he could see his destination, but this time it wasn't a clearing, it was a forest.
He tried his best to outrun the damn thing but he knew it was faster than him, it will catch up to him eventually. He also knew he absolutely could not allow it to bite him.
See, there are the standard differences between a King and Queen Taijitu. The King evolved with a stronger yang side, the Queen came from a stronger yin sign. The King was the brute half of the two, they were much more physically durable, this did not mean they were much more difficult to kill, simply that they took more to do so. The Queen on the other hand was more on the attacking side. Their tongue as well as fangs, were coated in a highly venomous, not to be confused with their counterparts, the poisonous Basilisks. These, while yes were physically easier to kill, they were almost always killed at range due to getting anywhere near their fangs was a death sentence.
'Of all the things I could have run into it had to be one of the Grimm that are taken care of by senior hunters!' Natsu thought as he ran.
However his train of thought was momentarily shifted towards a sound of teens, he knew they were far as the reason he heard them was due to his sensitive hearing.
"She's gonna fall."
"She'll be fiiiinnneee..." Another voice answered.
That is before the former had responded right after, "She's falling."
"How could you leave me?!" A third voice joined in.
"I said jump!"
Natsu knew there was probably not a better chance to get away, he could hear them meaning there was probably somewhere safe to go to, plus someone was probably falling off somewhere high, and considering there were no trees tall enough or mountain nearby, he took it as someone was on a flying Grimm.
For the third time that day he used his Lightning Dragon Slayer magic to flash him to the general area.
A thunderous sound rang out through the forest. "Thunder in the middle of broad sunlight?" Blake asked narrowing her eyes, "There isn't a cloud for miles, there is no way we should be able to hear thunder."
However she was knocked off her feet from the sudden thunderbolt which had hit the center of the ruins. Low and behold, Natsu Dragneel was there. "I am so gonna regret using so much energy in one day!" He yelled out aggravated.
That is before Weiss stormed up to him, "You!" He turned to see her fuming at him, "Just how did you do that?!"
"Secret, oh by the way, there is a Queen Taijitu after me... Hey don't they have sensitive hearing?" He said suddenly realizing something.
Just as they heard those words a subtle hissing was heard. Yang threw her hands in the air, "Oh great, a Death Stalker, Nevermore, and a Queen Taijitu! What are we going to do now?!"
Ruby had a determined look in her eyes, "I'll just take one of them out now!" She yelled as she began charging at the Death Stalker, however, she wasn't prepared for the Nevermore to shoot feathers at her, and pinning her cape, along with the girl, to the ground.
"Ruby get out of there!" Yang yelled worried for her sister.
"I'm trying!" She yelled yanking at it in panic as the Death Stalker started getting closer. Just as the tail was about to pierce her she closed her eyes.
Everything blurred for a moment before she could hear a voice yell at her, "You are so childish! And immature, and insane... and... I could be a bit... difficult. But if you're through showing off, you can start acting your age, and... I can be, nicer."
Behind Weiss was a thick wall of ice, enough so that the Death Stalker couldn't move... for now.
"I wasn't trying to show off, I was trying to show you I can handle myself." Ruby attempted to justify herself.
Weiss sighed, "You're fine."
Natsu smiled at the group, "So... not to break the moment of happiness, but what now?"
Taking the logical standpoint, Weiss said to them all, "Look, there is no point in fighting, we were told to get the relic and return back. Nothing more and nothing less was required.
Jaune stood up wearily, "Take a piece and run, I'm cool with that."
He and Ruby walked up and took a white rook and a white knight respectively. However, they were surprised to see one remaining piece, and even more so when they saw an odd number of pedestals. If they were correct, then there is a missing relic and piece or...
Natsu walked up and looked at the remaining piece, it looked like... He grinned, "Ozpin you devil you..." He grabbed it. It looked a queen piece, but at the same time it had attributes similar to a bishop, rook, and knight all the same.
They all looked confused but did not say anything knowing their objective. Just as they began to move, the Queen Taijitu peered their heads out, the Death Stalker broke the ice, and the Nevermore was making a round.
Jaune looked, "Let's move." It was as though a switch had gone off in his mind, he had a purpose and a goal now, get everyone out of this forest.
The only place left for them was the ruins even further from their destination, but what was worrying was not that, but the fact it would also mean they had to fight them.
Yang cursed slightly seeing they were trapped.
Ruby then had an idea, "Blake, Weiss, Yang, you're with me on the Nevermore. Jaune, you your partner and Nora's will take on the Death Stalker. Uh... Pinky you help out-"
"I'll handle the Queen, I brought it here, I'll get rid of it." He said with absolute confidence.
"That's suicide!" Weiss yelled.
He only smirked at her, "That's where you're wrong ice princess." He said using a name often used for Gray, "It's impossible for anyone without something I have."
Just as he said that the Nevermore began to fire feathers at them forcing them to all break into their respective groups Ruby gave earlier.
Ruby's team was towards the center. This was perfect due to the amount of pillars and platforms they could leap to if they had to move.
Jaune on the other hand had the bridge connecting them to the main parts.
Natsu, Natsu was stuck with pillars and nothing more than that. Some of which had fallen, and the Queen Taijitu used it to her advantage, slithering across it. Unfortunately for him he didn't have the strength to break quartz pillars of that thickness. Not now at least, maybe if he only used his Lightning Slayer travel technique once, he could, but right now he didn't.
(If you want to know what Ruby and Jaune's team did just watch the anime, because the only different thing here is they split into teams immediately, the only true addition is Natsu's fight, for all sake's and purposes I will say when Jaune then Ruby's team is watching)
He dashed across pillar to pillar much like he did in the Tower of Heaven when he had to chase Jellal up falling pieces of Etherion. Once Natsu had gone as high as he could he watched as the Taijitu attempted to follow him.
Natsu could hear the fighting behind him, specifically Jaune giving orders and gunshots from where Ruby and her sister was. He grinned at this, he pulled his fist back and jumped straight down, "Fire Dragon's Flaming Elbow!" Flames erupted from the joint speeding his fist straight down. Just before contact was made the fire gave out only to be moved straight to his fist, "Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"
The Grimm yelled out, clearly in pain from the bashing, however they were still resilient enough to get back up.
"Kssk, stronger than I thought." Natsu cursed lightly. "Guess I'll need to pick up the pace! Fire Dragon's Roar!" He screamed out as fire shot out of his mouth. He jumped back and swung his arms as he followed up.
"Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!" His next attack caused twin twisters of fire to spring out and towards the two headed snake creature.
Instead of keeping it down, it was only angered and charged forward.
At this moment Jaune had finished and looked at Ruby's team who was slowly picking off the Nevermore, however he was more surprised to see the Queen Taijitu follow Natsu. At this rate it would be more than close enough to snap it's neck long enough to catch him. "Watch out!"
He didn't need to be told at all, but nodded regardless, not that Jaune could see from such a distance. He jumped back and as a fang was about to reach him and pierce his skin, he pushed the head away with his palm. The second head made the same attempt only for it too to be pushed.
This was a constant action as the moment he derailed one, the other was striking once more, of course it was gradually slowing down, as even the Grimm could not keep up with Natsu.
Once he had even a fraction of a second, seeing both were far enough away for him to get out of there. A loud sound of a crow cawing could be heard, Ruby's team had just taken care of the Nevermore, all that was left was Natsu's Queen Taijitu.
The two remaining teams tried to get close enough so that they could help, however none of them were able to reach across the pillars to get to him.
"With the flames on my left hand," he said raising his arms, fire came to life in his left hand, "And the flames on my right," he continued, demonstrating his pyrokinesis. Natsu proceeded and raised both above his head bringing the two together, as he planned to end it the same way he does with most, "Then this is what you get! Fire Dragon's Brilliant FLAME!"
Once he placed them together, Natsu pumped a ton of magic into his hands. The fire grew larger and larger, many would think he was on fire himself, until he brought his joined hands down and the fire left his range as it slammed down onto the Queen Taijitu.
It screeched out in pain, falling down into the fog beneath the ruins.
He looked up to see the other eight first years gaping at him, well except Ren and Blake, but the two still had wider eyes than usual. He gave them a smirk and jumped back down, before pulling out a scroll. He turned around and opened up a call, "So, how was it?" He grinned into the camera.
On the other line, Ozpin's glasses were drooping, Glynda was spitting incoherent words, and Team CFVY... well they were passed out on the floor.
Shaking himself out of it, the headmaster pushed his glasses up his nose before looking back at Natsu, "Impressive work, now, why don't you all come back and get your teams assigned."
"Got it headmaster." He nodded and cut the call. He looked over his shoulder and was about to tell them they should get going, but... they were so shocked they couldn't even process anything, all just stared at him. He shrugged and walked away from them all.
"Cardin Winchester, Russel Thrush, Dove Bronzewing, and Sky Lark, you four retrieved the Black Bishop piece, as such your team is... Team CRDL (Cardinal) lead by, Cardin Winchester." The four cheered as they celebrated their teaming, from the looks of things they were most likely friends.
Ozpin continued with the next group, "Jaune Arc, Nora Valkyrie, Pyrrha Nikos, and Lie Ren, you four claimed the white rook piece. From this point forth, you will be known as... Team JNPR (Juniper) lead by... Jaune Arc!"
"L, lead by?" Jaune stuttered pointing to himself, Pyrrha grinned at him.
The headmaster nodded, "Congratulations young man."
His three team members began to push him away from the stage, who was frozen in shock at the revelation of being a team leader.
"The last team is made up of, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xao Long. The four of you have managed to gain the White Knight piece, for your time as hunters, the four of you are... Team RWBY, lead by, Ruby Rose!"
Before Weiss could even retort, as though Ozpin predicted she would, he continued. "Now, there is one student left. From the time of opening Beacon to last year we have always had enough students to make even groups of four students. I see that as a miracle, however today, we happened to have an odd card in the group. As a headmaster I have prepared for this. He is the first student placed under the Wild Card program I have set up.
"The Wild Card is simply what it is, he will join a second year team, each member joining a class or two of his, and will do so for the first quarter of the school year. During the second quarter, each week he shall join a freshman year team, if he finds the team inadequate or is unable to work with them, he may leave them and return to the second year team until the next week. Finally once the semester happens, he may join one of the Freshman teams. Of course, if he chooses he may go on his own... but that is only if he manages to complete a special test one in which no details will be excluded until the date of the test.
"Come up, young man." Ozpin called for him.
Natsu smirked and pushed off the wall he was leaning on. He walked up with the unique piece in his hand. Ozpin then continued, "Natsu Dragneel, the first Wild Card of Beacon, you've collected the Empress piece. However, that is the specific name of the chess piece. Anyone who has had the curiosity to look it up before, would be well aware any piece not from the orthodox chess, they are known as..."
"A Fairy Piece." He smiled at the piece. Yes after a bit of convincing Natsu had told Ozpin a bit of the truth.
"Correct, the team you will be joining, is Team CFVY." The four members of the team stood up and walked onto stage.
Coco walked up directly to the boy and pulled her shades down, "I hope you don't plan on quitting. I don't take quitters into my team." She stated rather confidently.
And that marked the day for him.
The five of them walked to their dorm room and once they were they looked the room, seeing that it was going to be a while for dinner to be served, but also because it was time for Coco and her team to learn more about their temporary addition.
"Okay, well since we have a new member I suppose it's time for a more proper introduction huh? Well I'll go first." Coco said gesturing to herself, "If you haven't been able to tell, I am the team leader, Coco Adel. I have chosen to take classes with you, those being Professor Goodwitch's and Professor Port's. Goodwitch's focuses more on Hunter to Hunter, or in real world terms, us against people like the White Fang or Roman Torchwhick. Port is more on Grimm, meaning the things you fought, got it? Good!" She said before he could even respond. "My likes and interests are simply my team, and fashion. Dislikes are poor choices in fashion, and the people who harm my team."
The rabbit girl walked up next, "I'm Velvet Scarlatina, I'm a rabbit Faunus and I'm the mage of the group. I will be with you as well in Professor Goodwitch's class, but in her Dust classes, I will also join you in history with Proffessor Oobleck's classes. I'm not really much of a social person, but I also support Faunus, just not the way the White Fang is doing it now." Velvet explained.
Next was the thinner male of the team. "Fox Alistair, and no, I'm not blind. I do though prefer not to rely on my sense of sight so much. I also prefer going on the offensives. As for dislikes, just don't mess with my friends." He shrugged. "As I've mentioned before I will be with you in free period.
"Yatsuhashi Daichi, I am the warrior of the group, protecting and attacking where needed. I would hope to ensure my team gets out with the least amount of injuries. Dislikes is the exact opposite and what causes them." He stated simply. "I shall assist you in Professor Peach's survival class."
"So... you gonna introduce yourself, Pinky?" Coco taunted.
He grinned and raised his hands, his extended his fingers. Before anyone could question his actions his fingers set fire until they formed two words, Natsu Dragneel. "A Fire type mage, specifically, a Lightning Flame Dragon Slayer." He said with a smirk as lightning arced around his body before leaving as soon as it came.
They watched with wide eyes and piqued interests. "Incredible..." Velvet said, she herself was incredibly impressed with his abilities.
"I don't really have weapons, unless you want to count what's in my pouch." Natsu shrugged while giving a nonchalant gesture with his head towards the brown bag at his side.
Coco, being a touch of a weapon fanatic herself, not as much as she is with fashion, popped the question, "So... what is it?"
Moving his hand towards the bag he pulled out a ring of...
"Keys?" Fox said looking at it, "Certainly you don't want us to believe you can fight with keys that size." He said with half drooped eyes in a 'You have got to be kidding me, right?' look.
A soft chuckling was heard, "I don't know how Aquarius would feel about that."
Needless to say, they were even more confused. "Mah, mah, I won't be using any of my other abilities for now, unless there is some reason. Anyways I like fire, electricity to an extent, and friends. As for dislikes, just ice, jerks, villains, and those that hurt the innocent." However just below audible level, he added on, "and those who betray their friends." The sad look in his eyes were very difficult to find, unless one was looking for it.
However there was one person there who heard him very clearly. One, Velvet Scarlatina. She picked up on his words and the look in his eyes, making a mental note to talk to him about it the first chance they get.
Suddenly Coco's scroll vibrated on the desk. "Oh, dinner time! Sweet, I heard they're serving you're favorite Velv."
Her eyes came to life, "Really?"
The leader nodded, "Well it's not gonna stay cold let's go!"
They all heard Natsu whisper something and just added onto the mystery, "I wonder if they can set fire to mine..."
Again, just going to mention Natsu has ten keys, not eleven, I made a mistake.
Next chapter, is going to be episode 9 + extra (Seriously, you can't expect a new character to be added in and NOT have changes.)
PAIRING: You know what? I can't decide. One person want's a harem, some don't. Here, I'll do this.
In your review, if you want a pairing, give me the person and give me a good reason WHY.
As of now, I am debating on TWO and ONLY TWO, the rest are deep into the iffy zone. Velvet and Weiss. Why? They are the only two actual mages his age! Know that these two are NOT for certain they are in the MAYBE zone. If nobody is gonna even try to convince me, I will decide one or the other. So unless you honestly despise these two and would rather have anyone else, you better speak up now.
